Very clear with plenty of easy to follow drawings and schematics, this book sheds light on very confusing aspects of boat ownership, chartering, surveying or just 'using'. Now, when I lift a floorboard or the engine room I know what every piece is and is supposed to do. David cruised extensively and he gives us the benefit of all his mistakes. I strongly suggest buying this book and keepint it on board.

Any lake-home owner would be a moron if they did not buy this book. Chock full of common sense advice and great illustrations. Mr. McComas is witty and fun to read as well in providing all sorts of useless tidbits of interesting information. I especially enjoy listening to him on KSTP as the "Lake Detective".

My car was undergoing a complete engine overhaul. I was a little nervous about the whole situation. So I went to my local library and found this book to help me better understand what was going on. It offers clear and easy to understand descriptions with excellent diagrams. Being of the female gender I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but thanx to this little book I now know exactly how my engine works, why it sometimes does the things it does, and how to prevent and fix certain situations.

I picked this book up on a whim without knowing much about it, and I'm glad I did! You don't have to be a do-it-yourself wizard or even a homeowner to appreciate the insights in this book. The book's title implies that the book is about houses, but the subject matter is really oriented around family--if you are part of or have ever been part of a pleasantly dysfunctional family, you will recognize truths about yourself.

The book is a collection of very short and informally written humorous essays. David Owen writes with a lot of heart and I often found myself laughing out loud. It was hard to put this book down! The stories are consistently humorous without being sarcastic or biting--and the reason they're so funny is that I can recognize aspects of myself and the people I know in every one of them. The author has put his finger on the pulse of everyday things, and has found truth and goodness there.

This book is an excellent, heartwarming, and funny expose of the foibles and ridiculous tendencies that make us human; I would recommend it to anyone.

Even though this is a text which is designed for helping churches to become better earth stewards, I bought it because its section on gardening was so helpful, especially the section on alternative lawns. It provided an insightful formula for introducing native plants into the lawn to minimize watering and care while maintaining freshness and connection to one's own area. And it worked!
My husband and I applied the forms which were designed to save on electrical bills, and while touted for churches, worked well on our home.
I recommend this book. We have consulted it frequently in seeking ways to reduce our energy consumption.

The definitive work on Lotus twin cam engines. I used it to rebuild (and re-engineer) a motor for a 74 Europa. I've seen
no other documentation - including the Lotus shop manuals - that have more and better detail than Wilkens' book.

You know that song "Low Rider"? "dun dun-dun dun-dut, dun dun-da dun-dun" I LOVE that song. That is what made me get this book from the library at school on the first place. My brother has a lowrider. The book is all about what lowriders (low-cars) are. I can't afford to buy a car yet, and I'm also not old enough, but when I am, I'm going to get a lowrider. When I read this book I sat real low in my chair, pretending I was driving a low rider. This book by Scott P Werther really brings the low-rider-lifestyle to life. I cut the soles off of my shoes.

This IS the greatest Original Mac/Mac Plus repair book ever. Too bad it's out of print. I repaired 8 Macintoshes (5 without parts!) based on the information provided in this book. Now I can't find it anywhere, and I've got a dead Mac Plus, with a unrecognized problem. Such is life. And no, from what I hear, the newer Dead Mac Scrolls book only covers COLOR Mac Classic & newer. Darn
