I often find myself thumbing through the pages in an auto manual wondering where the pertinent information is, and why it's not where it should be, regarding the vehicle I'm working on. Back & forth, searching for that one informative paragraph. More often than not, it's not even there, or if it is, it's not where it should be. I occasionally borrow a Chiltons Manual on GM Pickups from a friend, & find it hard to return it. I rarely use any other if I have his. So I've decided to purchase my own. Now I know I'll have the information I need to get the job done. In 1969, I was given a Chiltons Manual in high school as a gift after completing an Auto Mechanics course. I still have it & use it often when working on the older cars so I know I will always have the info I need, right where it should be. I wouldn't use anything else, because I've tried them & there's absolutely no comparison. Chilton's is the only way to go.

If you own a later-model Saturn (1995 or newer), this is the manual you want to buy. The Haynes guide is only good through 1994, and it's not as detailed as the Chilton's manual. No offense to the good folks at Haynes, but as far as Saturn manuals goes, these guys have you beat. With all the things that go wrong with Saturns (yes, I'm one of the few Saturn owners who thinks the car is a typical GM piece of junk), a shop manual like this is a must have.

This book is so helpful. I need all the help I can get fixing my own vehicle and the instructions in this book are step-by-step and easy to understand. The illustrations also are very helpful. I recommend that all vehicle owners that plan to repair their own vehicle get a chilton manual.

This book is very thorough and full of helpful info. It covers everything that a person needs to know when they are working on a early model truck. It not only has good step by step instructions but also includes great pictures that are verry detailed. It covers a wide variety of tucks. Easy to find sections.

If you want to fix your car, this is the best book to do the job.

I have had one humdinger of a time trying to find information on my Chrysler '72. Here it is all rolled up in one great little guide. It doesn't go into complete tear down, but I didn't want that. This book saved my motor from the dump.

The book covers all the basic systems with many options for performance upgrades at minimal cost. This is easier than thumbing through all your old magazines or investing in several other books.

I just received my Haynes PT Repair manual, for the 2002 PT Cruiser. I must say the book is very thorough in its presentation, and equally compares to other Haynes Manuals I have owned in the past. After reading the section on how to replace a timing belt, I wanted cry....HA!

Ron McClure's first book on old motorboats (CLASSIC WOODEN YACHTS OF THE NORTHWEST, Sasquatch Books, 2000) was a hit with vintage-boat fans, but it was limited to classics of Washington State and British Columbia.

His second take on the subject, CLASSIC WOODEN MOTOR YACHTS, is more broad-ranging in types of boats featured, and the author ranges across North America, from British Columbia to California to Connecticut, in pursuit of his subjects.

The new book is beautifully produced, and celebrates everything from old tugs and converted fishboats to small pleasure craft and huge motor yachts.

Quality of the photos is first-rate, and the images have been more thoughtfully laid out in this edition. (The first book included a few clunkers, and some of the detail shots were sized far larger than necessary. This time, everything's just right--like the boats themselves.)

McClure throughly enjoys the experience of assembling the book--going aboard some of the finest classics in North America, soaking up their ambiance and rich history--and his joy shines through in CLASSIC WOODEN MOTOR YACHTS, a must-read for those who appreciate beautiful and functional old boats.

Finally, the text in this edition is just as good as the photos, which is saying something.
