Ever since I got this wonderful book, my restoration of WW II jeeps has got a definite direction. I have been able to master the various differences between the MBs and GPWs. The wiring is made perfect. The quest for 'F' marks has increased(I have found many more such marks than those listed on page 139.The 'Jeep Straps', 'Seal patterns','Marking of Vehicles' and the 'General use,Standardized Parts' are only found in this book. As a restorer,owning 23 low bonnet jeeps, I seem to be commanding a fairly good knowledge about WW II jeeps, and would like to be contacted by jeep lovers in INDIA for more information. Could this be the starting point. I once again assuse that I am proud to possess the Bible on Jeep Restoration. Would like to own the second book by Ray Cowdrey,but dont know where in India will it be available? Please guide.

This book not only tells you how to do it, but it shows you step by step (in beautiful illustrations) how it will look as you do it step by step. I was really blown away by the fact that it tells you and shows you basically every tool you will need for the job. I believe this book can help any novice if they are desiring to take on a job of remodeling their own bathroom.

This is a great book for do-it-yourselfers. All the pictures are color photos instead of drawings, which helps to visualize things better. There are step-by-step instructions on absolutely everything, including removing and installing fixtures, tiles, vinyl floors, outlets, vents, ect. A must have if you are going to remodel your bathroom by yourself.

This is the only book you will need if you are planning to take on a bathroom remodeling project, big or small. It covers all of the plumbing questions you might have, or run into, as well as the basics of installing electrical fixtures, and framing new walls.

I received the book promptly and it was like brand new.

If you want to really understand how brake systems work. Improve your existing brakes, or convert from drum to disc. Read this book first. Fred Puhn conveys loads of info on how these systems work. From basic hydraulics, to how brake boosters work, calipers, pads, rotors, drums. The whole works!

The Brake Handbook by Fred Puhn is the bible of brake systems. Everything you ever wanted to know about braking theory, practical applications, cylinder size calculations and brake fluids is there.

The book covers both drum and disc brakes as well as single and dual brake systems. It is well recommended for both professional and shade-tree mechanics who want to know how brakes work and what to do to make them work better.

This is critical book in the collection any builder/restorer should have close at hand. The knowledge McRaven shares from his vast experience is a standout among the limited sources available to the restorer. While I am using several sources for my restoration project, I have referred to this one most.

After stumbling upon a tattered copy of the earlier version of this book (now out of print) in the local library, I can only say that I called Mcraven several times LD from Germany in 1993 to check on the publish date of the revised edition. Really an excellent book- essential for the shelf of anyone with an interest in the authentic square-hewn type of cabin.

McRaven describes in detail the steps necessary to ultimately live in a log house. From acquisition through to suggestions for decoration of the interior, this book clearly outlines what is in store for a log house enthusiast. The author also provides helpful suggestions throughout the book. Preservationists, historic resource surveyors as well as people interested in living in a log house will all gain from the content of the book.

This will be the only reference that you will need to build either a porch or a deck. Far superior to any of the other three deck books I used from a library. A must own!

This book provides complete, concise, clear, step-by-step instructions for deck building. Great photos clarify text and make the project seem exciting. I bought two books on decks and returned the other...this one had everything I needed.

Searched through many how-to books before a friend let me borrow this one. It provided all of the specific information I needed to actually build a deck. The others were wastes of money.

I got this book because I was planning to build a house which I want to be accessible for future years. This book was really more than I bargained for. I think EVERYONE should read this book before designing their home, even if they think they don't care about needs for future years. One of the best features of this book is that it points out where required accessibilty, or accessibility standards are often completely insufficient--probably because they were developed by able-bodied people. They have now done a lot of research on what gives people trouble, and improvements on the required standards that are far better. This book covers every aspect and room of your home, inside and outside. It is well-written, in plain English, with plenty of pictures and drawings that are EASY to comprehend. This book is expensive, but well-worth every penny.

It really helps to lead you in the design and placement of all items and objects, as well as the general layout of you houseplan, rooms and location of house on lot, to make it more convenient and easier for you to get around no matter what your age, height, or physical strength is. It helps you decide the right height for switches, outlets, windows, etc., where they should be in proximity to doorways, beds, work zones, etc. It also gives a good discussion on types of lighting, why and where each is best suited, types of switches, step heights, ramp heights and lengths, the need for less steps, proposing the need to consider letting mechanical aids do the work rather than tired or frail and aging bodies. Helps lead you to the thoughts of doing your exercise in the gym and not be forced to do it in the house. Gives an excellent discussion of what and how for heating, air conditioning, lighting, everthing that goes into a house. It also gives excellent pointers as to what scales to use in creating your house plan drawings to avoid confusion and mistakes by the builder in implementing your plans. Compares accessible building standards to the currently accepted building standards and provides the reason for the departures from the norm. A lot of information is provided on the methods of testing and developing the standards that this text espouses, sort of like in depth and pragmatic time and motion studies. Much of this can be ignored by the reader, but for the doubters out there it does fully explain and support the standards and approaches provided.

The best single volume I've seen on designing a house that works for you (not against you) throughout your lifetime. Excellent information on decline of strength and ability with age, and some excellent ideas on making a "handicapped accessible home" that looks like a thoughtfully designed home instead of a hospital. Plenty of real-life examples, many of them no more costly to implement than the standard US housing market styles, and solid information on remodeling to fit needs.

Written for the general public, not specialized professions like architect, contractor, etc., it is readable and practical. It is designed to help you think through the possibilities rather than offering cookbook solutions and plans.

It should also be required reading for church building committee members, etc, though not officially addressing churches and other public buildings.

Buildings well-designed to meet the needs of people with various disabilities are also well-designed to meet the needs of people without disabilities. This book will help you do just that.

My husband and I have a lawn and landscape business and we own tons of gardening books, and this is our favorite. It is laid out very well and includes everything you need to know about the plants listed. I found nearly every plant we use in our own and our clients gardens in this book. I was very impressed with the information and photos. This is the first plant book I would recommend to anyone, and it could very well be the only one you need.

I enjoy using this book as a reference. Great pictures accompany the information material. Has much misc. information, such as: potential problems, quirks of a plant, critter resistance, the source, etc. I truly am pleased with this purchase! It was worth every penny I spent! I am a beginner gardener & I think this book was a big influence that got me hooked on gardening!

It has different sections for soil type, temperature, and sun tolerance, and which plants would work best in each area. For each plant, it has great color photos, gives planting zones, disease and insect problems and great descriptions. I love the book. I plan on using this a lot while landscaping my yard.

Well of course first you have to spent some money to get the book, but that is soon forgotten as you start reading it and using it's content to take care of your car.(In casu a '92 245 2.3 POLAR).

This is the third Bentley service manual I've purchased within this year and I am happy with this one.
The information can be used with volvo 740 and 940(The same engine and transmissions are used) My only complain is that the book does not cover AW70/71 transmission in detail.

I Own a copy of this book and have read it Cover to Cover many times, It is not so much a technical book, but more set around Showing you what can be done and what has been done with the VW beetle, If you are starting out a resto Project This is definitly the book for you.

This book will definitley get the creative juices flowing when you are trying to decide how you want your beetle restoration to turn out. It covers all the popular "looks", from the ageless Cal-look to the modern german look, as well as buggies, bajas and replicas.

A definite must have for a beetle fan.

This is a must have for the VW fan. I was at a car show in Effingham, Il. where Keith Seume was signing books I didnt get a chance to meet him but did order two books from Amazon, The VW Beetle "The New Custom Handbook" and the "VW Performance Handbook". Both these books have a wealth of information and he loves VW!!! He has given me some great information for my current projects and some redo ideas for my Cal-look 71. Both of these books have great pictures as well!

My mother bought me this book when I bought my first wood boat(30 ft chris craft). It was an excellent resource for getting me started. It gives advice on what to look for in a wood boat and varying degrees of information on everything from sandpaper to cabinet construction. By far it has been the best resource I have had aside from real people.

This is the first wooden boat book I purchased and it is still my favorite. I've even reread it a couple of times, something I've never done before. Trefethen's sense of humor and realism make this book a delight to read. His knowledge of the subject and his ability to put his ideas into laymens terms make this book very educational to read. You are able to soak up every piece of information without rereading a paragraph several times scratching your head. Buy This Book!

When I bought this book, I had some basic wood-working skills (I've built decks and simple things like that), but I knew absolutely nothing about making repairs to wooden boats. This book gave me valuable guidance in selecting a classic old wooden boat to buy, and helped me to transform her into something marvelous over the course of this summer.

The book is well-written. It is not highly technical or difficult to understand and it gave me confidence to take on some repairs that I would never have attempted if I hadn't read it. The author is clearly a character, and his personality shows in the amusing asides and comments sprinkled throughout the book.

A well-made, classic wooden boat is really a piece of art that just happens to float. There are few straight lines, pieces are bent in multiple directions and stressed in unusual ways. The book won't turn you into a Picasso of this amazing art overnight, but it is tremendously helpful to somebody just getting started.

If you are thinking about jumping into wooden boats, consider the following: With a little bit of money and lots of hard work, I now own something which speaks to my soul. How many of your current possessions can you say that about?
