Compulsory reading in this mad world
I picked it up and started reading it in a cab. 5 minutes later the driver asked me to get out. I was in fits of uncontrolled laughter!

Absolutely hysterical; incredibly clever.
What a tragedy this book is out of print. The publisher should be ashamed of itself. This collection of bizarre and comical letters to actual businesses and organizations and the replies Wade received are priceless. The letters about the mountaineering team endeavouring to climb Singapore's highest peak (150 metres tall) and the delegation of pygmies wishing to save money on a hotel room by fitting four to a bed (width-wise) are hysterical. Please offer us a reprint!

Second worst title ever!
You would not believe how funny this book is. No one would ever buy it based on its title, or due to its unknown author. But goodness gracious, it was absolutely hysterical. The Bob Yeti series alone should win an award! And the one about the Lufthansa flight - I was laughing so hard I coughed up a little bile. The Grampers letter was cute but not original (like the Heimlich squad material). Nevertheless, A+ to Wade!!

Ages 4-8??? Paleeze! This one is timeless, a true must read for all ages! Who says religion can't be fun.

A Wonderful Book For Everyone!
I have to say that this book is so informative and it isn't just for children...I would give this book 5 stars as it explains just about everything that a child could ask a parent. I believe that it keeps the attention of the child because it is very colorful and it is contemporary.

A superb educational tool for Catholics everywhere
Wendy Goody and her colleagues have assembled a fun, wonderful learning guide for Catholic children everywhere. A must-have for any Catholic parent or educator.

Great Private Eye Novel
This is the best Private Eye novel I've read in a long time. I highly recommend it. Great story (kept me up late finishing it). It's set in Hawaii, and the author does a good job of incoprorating Hawaiian culture into the storyline.

A Hawaiian Adventure
Apparently nobody else out there has thought to use the Hawaiian word for trouble in a book title, because if you type just "pilikia" into the amazon search engine, it takes you straight to this book. And this title does make good use of the word. The story is set in Hawaii, and the protagonist, Val Lyon, is a private investigator who does indeed encounter her fair share (and then some) of pilikia in a day's work.

This particular pilikia begins when a lawyer from a prominent island family hires Val to find the adolescent son of his client, who is being jailed for contempt for failing to produce the boy during a messy custody battle. The mother claims that her ex-husband has abused the boy and that, although she sent him away for his safety, she doesn't know exactly who has him or where he is. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for Val, the mother lets slip the name Harriet, and the hunt is on. Before long, Val finds herself entangled in much more than the search for the missing child. For one thing, people start getting killed, and Val is almost one of them. Then she discovers that the family of the lawyer who hired her has a lot of connections (none of them very pleasant) to the case at hand. It doesn't help any that she also starts falling for her lawyer client.

This is some deep pilikia that Val has to wade out of, but she does so admirably, even if she becomes terribly wounded in the process. One of the most striking things about this book is Val's character, which is complex and intriguing and very realistic. If I didn't know Mark personally, I'd swear he was a woman writing under a male pseudonym, because he has a clear understanding of female characters. The male characters are good, too, but sometimes they seem a little limited by the roles they have to play in the story.

The story line is another of the book's strengths. It is suspenseful and manages to be complex without descending into the sort of confusion that happens when authors just dump cartloads of red herrings wherever they can. Just a tiny bit of what may be a spoiler, however: if you have any more than a passing interest in genetics, you will probably be a few steps ahead of Val once the clues start turning up. That doesn't detract from this great tropical thrill ride, though, and I look forward to reading more of Val's adventures. Before long, I suspect pilikia will be Val's middle name, not just her occupation.

**Adapted from a Skullduggery review**

If you like Dashiell Hammett you like Troy!
Sparse words used wisely with GREAT dialogue, this book is a real page turner. It will satisfy every reader of hard core detective novels. Can't wait to read about what Val will be up to next in Hawaii.

First Rate Work All The Way
This is quite simply one of the best coming-of-age novels I've ever encountered, especially in its unique explorations of what it feels like to be a young athlete with good but not exceptional ability who has aspirations of stardom. The scenes between Ben and his father are so frank at times they're almost too painful to read. The author is also right on target in each and every relationship he depicts between Ben and a coach or a so-called "male" adviser.

Gutsy and passionate
Nemec is one the most unappreciated fiction writers we have. Every one of his books is gutsy and passionate and full of strange twists. This book combines accurate, unsentimental pictures of growing up in the 50's in tight concentric circles with the drama and risk of breaking out of those circles into manhood.

Growing up in Ohio
Fantastic novel! I read it once quickly and then had to reread it to savor the exquisite subtleties. It caught the trials and tribulations of a boy growing up in the mid-1950s perfectly. Ben's story brought back the poignancy of my high school years all too clearly: the yearning for those cute coeds that I was too painfully shy to talk to, much less ask for a date, and that secret longing for a mysterious older woman of the world who would initiate me into the wonders of manhood. Well done.

OK, but workable into a thing of beauty
The Lafayette High School Theatre company presented this play to conclude the Missouri State Thespian Conference on January 6th, 2001. While the play itself is not the best piece of literature, the cast and crew molded it into a living, breathing monument to the men and women of the Vietnam war. The show recieved a standing ovation that started before the curtain call and lasted until the house lights were broguht up. The play recounts the lives of six women and one "all american men," and their stories from the war. At several points in the play, even the crew, who had seen the production several times over, were shaken with misty eyes. Indeed, even in an auditorium full of seasoned actors and techies, there was hardly a dry eye in the house. I recomend this play to those who are up to the emotional challange, as well as the techincal. I applaud my fellow Thespians!

This Play Stole A Piece of My Heart....
I am a 17 year old high school forensic student.. and I needed material for a dramtic interp.... I read this play and it really stole my heart... It drove home the horrors of a war that took place when my parents were my age.. and gave me a understanding of the pain and suffering caused by the horrors of this war... The play provides great material for acting pieces... for forensic competitions...and I did extremely well with the material this year... but more than that.. it gave me more compassion for the Vietnam Soldiers and nurses.

Not a dry-eye in the house.
My high school is currently in pre-production for A Piece of My Heart and I am on Sound Crew. Just reading it, you get a sense of great intensity and now that our first performance is in two days, I've seen it rehearsed dozens of times and you wouldn't believe the feeling you get watching it. We've had Viet Nam Veterans come to the school and guest speak through the week and every single one of them has said that the emotion and the scenes portrayed in this play are very reminiscent of the War. I haven't seen one person, who's sat through the whole thing, leave without the shedding of tears. It is very intense and very good, and if you haven't got the chance to see it, find it! Read the book! Something!

A Good Summary of Trading Experience
In this fantastic book Stanley Kroll discloses his secret of successful commodity trading. As a trader, I find that the book is very useful. The central theme is to follow the trend, than get in during secondary reaction or rally, and then set a rigid cut loss point. After retired from active trading, Stanley Kroll finally returned to the exciting scene of trading. But when he came back, he found that his theory is no longer applicable to the market. This teaches that each one has to be flexible and adapted to the market. He should also develop a new system to reflect the change in the market. Those who are interested in this field could also find the only book by Jesse Livermore, "How to Trade in Stocks" and read it. He could dig a lot of useful information from them.

Must read
I checked this book out of the library, read it and then went and ordered a copy to own. This book reads similarly to ROSO and Marty Schwartz's Pit Bull, except it makes an attempt to show you some of his methods through charts and thought process. Basically, align with the major trend, fade the counter trend at 50% retracements, scale in and scale out. Most of all, be patient, trust your trade and know when you are wrong. Whether or not he chose choice successful examples to write in this book is irrelevant. One gripe I did have though, was not seeing how he would come up with his price objectives, perhaps calculated off a 150% extension. I suspect this is in one of his other books.

I have read around 100 trading related books, this one was a sleeper book that was not expected to be great and so, caught me off guard. This book will certainly stay in my top 10 list and I will be sure to pick up the rest of Stanley Kroll's books.

Superb! Best for the veteran traders
You seldom find in the universe of trading books that a trader will use more passages to cover stories about his failure than success. This is just a rare breed. Perhaps Kroll was confident enough to do so with the backup of his outstanding trading record, and his determination to write a superb trading book.

To me, this is a modern day Reminiscences Of a Stock Operator ROSO. Of course, Kroll and his book are not as "great" as Livermore and ROSO. However, the tone/style of the books are not so distant, and so are their values. In fact, Kroll had voiced out his admiration for Livermore.

In short, cut loss short, keep profit run, plan your game well, focus on the major trend and buy on its minor retracement, keep absolutely calm and relaxed, see lights across the board and not just of what you trade, trade opposite to the news on mass media, mind the single/double day reversal, the sardine story (some commodities are for trading and not for eating), not to be worried about the beginning of a big trend coz it always lasts longer than most people expect, go along with the technical when it clearly shows something at variance with the psychology of the market, and much more wise words are present in this book.

As a value added service, I would like to quote one passage here for your reference.

"There's a great tendency to get carried away by the prevailing market psychology at that time and not doing any liquidating. But you've got to resist that tendency. When the market attains that major price objective, where you had projected closing out, say, half the position, do it. If you dont, you will probably regret it later."

In a word, a must read.

p.s. The only bad thing of this book is the exceptionally poor front cover design.

Great, Except for One Big Problem...
"Ransom My Heart" is a great book, except for one BIG problem: the hero is a complete jerk. In the prologue that sets up the story, he has sex with the heroine, then casts her to the side for reasons that really don't hold any water for anyone with a brain. We move ahead five years, where the man, Chase McCullar, is hired to find the kidnapped daughter of his one-time love, Samantha Kincaid. Although Samantha is mysterious about the girl's father, the reader already knows who it is the whole time. That doesn't detract from the story, though, as they have to struggle through a danger-fraught trip through Mexico to find the girl, only to discover secret dangers lingering back in Texas... Wilson's action sequences are great, I liked Samantha (especially for putting up with the Big Blond Creep, Chase), but he ruined the book for me. Arrogant, condescending, and insufferably rude, I wanted her to knock him over the head through just about all of the book. Frankly, I couldn't understand why Samantha would even want him, considering the way he treated her, but I guess if the cover art is any indication, she thought his looks were good enough.

This is the first book of Wilson's "Home to Texas" trilogy, and it makes for a good beginning. Unfortunately, Chase plays a prominant role in the other two, "Whisper My Love" and "Remember My Touch," and he's a jerk in both of those too. Fortunately, a development in that last book takes him out of most of it, something that we all can be grateful for. All three books are worth checking out.

The best book I've read in a long time!
This was definitely the best book I've read in ages! While some readers might feel that Chase is a jerk, if you read carefully, you'll know that he didn't mean the things he said, and he knew from the beginning that he loved Samantha with all his heart. This is one of those books where I couldn't wait for the end, and then when it came, I wanted more! Please, Gayle, write another book about Chase, Samantha and Mandy!

The Best of Harlequin!
We have read almost all of the Harlequin books, and this one interested us the most!!! We thought that Samantha should have told Chase in the beging about Amanda being his daughter. We can understand why Samantha loves him, but why did he have to be such a Jerk to her?! Ugghhh!

It is a great book, give it a try.. Thanks Adam, I love you.

When Kaddish is not enough...
They say death and taxes are the only things one can be sure of. But when the death of a close friend or loved one happens, it can leave us feeling lost and bewildered. "Remember My Soul" is a book of direction through the painful journey of mourning. Each of 30 days is examined allowing the reader to take as little as 5 minutes to (?) per day to study a specific Torah subject "in this person's memory". Each day culminates with a "diary of remembrance" that invites your memories of the deceased, and how they relate to each day's lesson. After the death of my 15yr old nephew Joshua, this book helped my family through those helpless days of awkward adjustment. I recommend this book not only for the Jewish person struggling through Shiva and mourning, but non-Jews (as myself) can benefit from the ageless wisdom and inspiration from the Torah.
