This book changed my life
I cannot express in words the power of this wonderful book. I am an adult who was not raised with any values that could sustain me through all the messages of the outside world: Look beautiful, make money, drive fancy cars, clothes make the person; all the hype the media blasts at you everyday. I picked up this book and for the first time in my life, I felt grounded. I internalized the values in this book and for the first time in my life, I felt peace. All the distractions of the outside world could no longer effect me. The book changed my life.

A message we need to pass along to the next generation
Drawing from inspirational experiences from her own childhood, Dr. Edelman talks to (not at) her own children, urging them, in whatever occupation they may choose, to serve the community at large. This is also a book for adults (parents, educators, and religious and community leaders) to read, to live a life of principles and a desire to somehow make the world a better place - in short, to serve as the strong, positive role model that so many of our children have had to do without.

The book is also an indictment on how American society and political leadership do a great job at paying lip service to the needs of children but fails miserably in their actions. Complaining, however, is not enough; if children are to grow up to be conscientious and caring citizens, adults must set a good example.

It's a small book with a big heart and a great message. I strongly recommend it to anyone who cares about children and social justice in general.

A long read
The book is short -- less than 100 pages. Yet, I spent many more hours reading this book than most. Why? Edelman has the ability to really draw you into her heart and her mind. I found myself rereading pages, lessons, and chapters because I enjoyed them so much the first time. I've read this book cover to cover three or four times.

It's a wonderful, emotional, insightful, inspirational 97 pages. Buy two copies, and give one to your parents or children.

Great Money Management Formula
This book does a great job of explaining the reasons for commonplace hang-ups about money and offers a very workable solution. I actually struggled with being an "over saver" - and there aren't many books written for us. Laut outlines a great way to live for today (spending what you have) while also saving for the future. It's easy to read and easy to implement.

MONEY IS MY MISTRESS
I first read this book in my early twenties when I was a lost soul living on welfare (not a difficult thing to do in this town). The first word that comes to mind is PHENOMENAL.

Money Is My Friend explores the philosophical, psychological and emotional aspects of wealth. The purpose here is to eliminate Poverty Consciousness and replace it with Prosperity Consciousness. Money is a force beyond good and evil, neutral as electricity and powerful enough to rival even the forces of love and war. It is a creation of the human mind. All currency simply consists of symbolic representations of a mental construct that cannot be clearly defined. Therefore, poverty and wealth are merely states of mind which manifest themselves on the physical plane. By altering the contents of your mind you alter the contents of your bank account, so to speak. In order to do this Phil Laut takes us through exercises of self exploration and reprogramming which REALLY WORK. Also, his guidelines for managing money are unsurpassed and he devotes an entire chapter to the art of salesmanship (which should be a basic life skill for everyone). I seriously believe this book should become a standard in High School curriculum.

I am now in my late twenties and well on my way to earning a 6 figure income. This book should have been entitled The Magical Secrets of Wealth Creation.

`Money is My Friend' is indeed my best friend!
I read `Think and Grow Rich' when I was 23, and in the ensuing 25 years had read most of the how-to books on success and wealth (including Magic of Thinking Big, The Greatest Salesman in the World, Spirit of Appollo, The Richest Man in Babylon etc.). However none of them did me any good in improving my financial situation.

So when I came across this gem of a book, it was like a breath of fresh air. For once I found something that did work - for me! While the other books left me feeling guilty (I had not persisted enough, I did believe enough, I had not visualized properly etc.), Money Is My Friend did just the opposite! It explained that there could be hidden mental blocks within my subconscious that caused negative results, and not just the lack of proper application of principles. Furthermore it helped me uncover and clear some of these mental blocks.

The breakthrough came for me when I was on Chapter 4 and reading about `Parental Disapproval Syndrome'. It suddenly flashed upon me just how the tutelage of my parents and my teachers had helped me make the strong subconscious association that MONEY IS EVIL. That was the reason why I found it difficult to attract money.

The affirmations given in this book are wonderful. Within a few months of my writing my first affirmation `My income exceeds my expenses', my financial situation began to improve.

But this book is much more than about money. The ideas in the book may seem controversial at first glance, but are in fact true. Some examples just to whet your appetite: `Financial problems cannot be solved with money!' `All human wealth is created in the human mind!' `Anger is intention contaminated with the idea of helplessness' `My wealth increases daily, whether I'm working, playing or sleeping!'

Read the book before you dismiss or condemn any of the above statements. I can only end with the words of the author `Make a special note to re-read the sections that make you angry, skeptical or afraid!'

I believe you will be glad you did. After 25 years of religiously studying hundreds of books on attaining success and wealth, I think Money is My Friend stands out as the ultimate.

I still buy copies of MIMF to give to my friends.

Excellent Resource for ALL Ages!
I used this book to help my daughter learn a multitude of words in English and ASL signs when she was *very* young. Now that she's a preschooler, we're looking at it again from the Spanish perspective. And even though I am fluent in Spanish, I learned a *lot* of very specific vocaublary from this book (the names of all different kinds of vehicles and tools, for instance). I would recommend this book not only for parents of very young children, but also for students of the Spanish language of *any* age, as a vocabulary builder. If I were teaching a high school language class, I would want to copy pages out of this book, blank out the names, and challenge students to label each picture. What a great resource!!

Great pictures!
Nice photos, not cheaply put together. Very clear.

EXCELLENT!
This is a wonderfully colorful and fun book. My newborn is going to love learning Spanish with this book, so will I! The photographs are of real things -- not drawings, so children can relate directly to the words and pictures. It is a large and sturdy hardcover so it will withstand tiny fingers turning from page to page. If you buy only one book to introduce the language to your youngster, make it this one.

In the Great Southern Tradition
Wonderfully written in the best literary tradition of the South. Family saga with all the secrets finally come to light. Couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

If You've Lost Your Belief in True Love
If you've lost your belief in true love this book is for you. No matter how cynical you are you will fall in love with My Brother Michael. What a beautifully written, sad, funny, romantic book. These are people you can care about. Age-old themes: money, poverty, incest, sibling rivalry, a brother's mistake, a son's fury, a mother's love. You've known these people before, just not the inside story of what has really gone on in their lives. Brilliantly written. Boldly beautiful.

Southern Comfort
My Brother Michael is as delicious as a large glass of sweet tea on a hot Florida day! Janis Owens is a wonderful writer, with a skillfully spirited understanding of small- town Southern idiosyncrasies. This poignantly told story of love lost and found, captivates the reader immediatly with its wry Southern comfort and charm.

A very quick and light-hearted read
I ran across this book at the library looking for substantive books on chickens--the cute cover caught my eye. This is a very entertaining and enjoyable read!

I'd recommend this book as one you'll finish quickly, share with a friend or two, and want to read again yourself one day.

Great gift book
This extremely short book really qualifies as more essay than "book," and as much as I enjoyed it, I wondered who would shell out hard-earned cash for its slim contents.

Then I found myself handing it around to people as I would share a cartoon or funny email. "Zip through it over lunch," I said, "Take it instead of a magazine while you're waiting for your oil change or dentist appointment."

And so I learned what this book is best for: for a few bucks, you can pass a smile around to your friends. The eye-catching cover is hard for anyone to resist, and the illustrations are great. If you know someone who's been adopted by a stray animal, this is perfect for them. But if not, pass it on anyway. It's a light, funny read that will make anyone smile.

In Grime's hands this unusual bird manages a truly universal appeal. I loved the pleasure it seemed to take in sneaking up behind a skittish cat and sending the cat vertically airborne with a sudden cackle. Then there's the pet store employee who tries to explain that they don't carry chicken feed, because a chicken is not a "particular animal." Grimes has an eye and ear for gem moments like these.

One heck of a chicken....
This is an absolutely adorable story about a man who comes to know and love a chicken who suddenly appeared in his backyard. I first read the authors article about the enigmatic and willful chicken in the New York Times and I actually saved that article because I enjoyed it so thoroughly. My Fine Feathered Friend is just as charming as that article was and better since the author is able to elaborate more on the chicken's fantastic personality and the personalities of the numerous cats that interact with the tenacious bird. The author really knows how to describe animals and the cats encounters with the chicken are truly vivid and terribly amusing. You will not forget this chicken. Its personality lingers long after the final page. The book is a joy and I highly recommend it. Thank you, Mr. Grimes, for sharing such a delightful story!

top 100 novel on the subject of the Wandering Jew & Jewess
THE WANDERING JEW AND WANDERING JEWESS?
AHASVER CD-ROM ISBN 1895507901 (SALE)! "THE JEW" (I-IIII):
"...Audacious and magnificent." "The book is in both substance and method of the highest originality; it is both fascinating and brilliant; the historic pageant is unrolled with a colorfulness and clearness that astonish me. And I am delighted too by the play of implicit wit, the quaint malice of the innuendos, the symbolic pattern sustained throughout." "...fascinatingly interesting and instructive...very ingenious conception and treatment of the various psychological and philosophical themes...I am particularly impressed with your ingenious way of presenting the various phases of psycho-sexuality....A great work." "It is a remarkably interesting idea to present the pageant of the World as it unfolded before the eyes of the same man during two thousand years. Also, to keep him a young man instead of a doddering grey-beard. It is like reading a series of entrancing short stories with the added interest of logical sequence. Their erudition is amazing, and it is presented in a manner that lures one on-and-on, as well as inducing the pleasant belief that one is learning something really worthwhile. It is a big thing to have attempted, and as far as I have gone there is certainly nothing to cavil at." "The book is gorgeous in its epigram and cold satire. It is one of the most brilliant books of sophisticated World-wisdom ever written. It sums up the case of intelligence against life. Isaac Laquedem is the Ulysses of your brain." "`My First Two Thousand Years' looks to me like a big thing." "Instead of leaving the reader stimulated, this would-be entertaining and philosophic tome leaves you prostrated...quality-of-life, so difficult to define to any healthy piece of literature, is absent." "The story captures the reader's interest in the beginning, holding it enthralled through every short chapter to the very end of five hundred and one pages. This number is significant. It recalls those gentle tales of one thousand and one nights." "The halfpenny cynicism in which the authors revel is the type resulting from protracted adolescence. The greatest mystery of it all is that the authors if not their book comes recommended, however guardedly, by no less than Sigmund Freud, George Bernard Shaw, and Havelock Ellis." "`My First Two Thousand Years' has occasional defects, but, out-weighing these, are pages of beauty, clearly seen and transcribed; and chapters of adroit and smiling satire...throughout there persists the restless reach of man toward a forever elusive finality." "This is in may respects and astonishing book, and in all respects one that deserves attention." "Cartaphilus's speculations and comprehensions about life, as without growing older, watching others grow old and idle; his amatory experiences, his judgments of great men of history, his increasing self-knoledge...all these give the book substance and intellectual stimulation, as well as very occasional brilliance. But in no major sense does the book triumph over its inherent difficulties. It is not history surveyed from high philosophical peaks, but history regarded by two intelligent minds. It is all human experience collected and annotated, but not interpreted with any profundity. So is its irony without depth, and its wit without freshness." You would think that anyone might, in two thousand years, grow weary of tryingto solve the riddle of life through sexual orgies, especially if, along about the middle of the fourth century of it, a Chinese adept has taught him two hundred and eighty secrets of love. But not Cartaphilus...undeniably an eenormous achievement." "...a work that must not be measured by ordinary standards....It will be read and thoroughly enjoyed by any lover of good fiction no less than by him who has a preferment for history and biography." "...As a work of creative imagination, Viereck and Eldridge have written a fascinatingly unique and alluring story. It is done with a spareness of words that sometimes approaches the beauty of the Greeks....In summing up the book...it is the story you remember." "...an unusually good story...some readers will detect a slight suspicion of Kraft-Ebbing; our respectable ancestors would have burned the book -- and perhaps the authors -- with a clear conscience. But a good many moderns will read it with enthusiasm." "...too colossal, too powerful, too broad in scope to be tarnished by the tired adjectives of reviewers....No detail is left untold; no intimacy is too delicate to go unrelated....A great work."

With fascinating social commentaries
George Sylvester Viereck (1884-1962) was a German-born poet and novelist. Paul Eldridge (1888-1982) was a poet and authored a number of plays and essays. In My First Two Thousand Years: The Autobiography Of The Wandering Jew, Viereck and Eldridge collaborated to write an impressive, 512 page novel that purports to be the story personal story of Cartaphilius (alias Isaac Laquedem), a young man who was the "wandering jew" of ancient myth. An elegant and immortal young man, his "autobiography" provides us with portraits of Salome, Jesus, Mary Magdalen, Nero, Attila, Mohammed, Don Juan, Leonardo da Vinci, Pope Alexander, Rothschild, Spinoza, Einstein, George Bernard Shaw, Lenin, Mussolini, and other historical figures. All intertwined with fascinating social commentaries, philosophic observations, as well as history and science based episodes with a new perspective through which we can view them. My First Two Thousand Years is an original and enduring work of literary substance that a whole new generation of readers can now discover with enthusiasm and appreciation.

Celebrates the story of love through Time and Space.
Viereck, later a propagandist in the Nazi Regime, corresponded with Albert Einstein, incorporating the nature of relativity to the story of mankind, using the extra-scriptural legendary characters, the Wandering Jew (Isaac Lakedam) searching the earth for his female counterpart, the Wandering Jewess (Salome) who is similarly cursed to dance forever, for having asked for the head of John the Baptist to be served upon a silver platter. The specific expression of their version as a novel makes for enlightening and fascinating reading on the nature of historical events through the past two milleniums. Please enjoy watching the movie!

A great book for all ages.
Sweet and naive Sandy tries to save his parents and pet chicken from being killed by his greedy and sinister uncles who are after the family money. When this means moving the comatose chicken and parents into the neighboring hospital for the mentally challenged, they will meet and befriend a cast of very endearing yet neglected people. A very warm-hearted story with humor, adventure, and suspense all in one cover. Great imagination!

Nuts are Good!
I love the book Love Among the Walnuts by Jean Ferris because it is written so well. Ferris uses such detail and description to describe these characters and their surroundings. She puts a lot of humor into her stories and uses very descriptive words and phrases.
Sandy Huntington-Ackerman was living life on Easy Street. His parents were both multi-millionaires. He lived in a huge mansion about 40 miles outside of the town called Jupiter. The mansion is called Eclipse. One day, Sandy's uncles, Bart and Bernie, try to poison the entire family so they can get all of the money that belongs to Sandy's father, Horatio. Luckily they miscalculate and it only sends Sandy's parents, the cook, and their pet chicken Attila, into comas. Sandy doesn't want his parents to leave the house but the doctor says they have to go to a hospital.
Sandy finds out that the house that neighbors the Eclipse is called Walnut Manor and is a loony-bin. Sandy decides to send his parents, the cook, and Attila there but also hires an extra nurse named Sunnie. Bart and Bernie are furious when they find out that Horatio is still alive, even though incapacitated at the moment, and Sandy is still alive and kicking. They try to make another attempt on Sandy's life but with the help of his loyal butler, the nurse Sunnie, and the inmates from Walnut Manor, Sandy will try his best to send those creeps to jail.

Love Among the Walnuts
The book I read was "Love Among the Walnuts" written by Jean Ferris. The theme of

this book starts out in the city with a man named Horatio Alger Huntington-Ackerman. Then the

book ends up in the country where Horatio had married a women named Mousey Malone. The

lived in a huge house they built 40 miles away from Jupiter city. So you think this is a happy

story well your in for a treat this happy story turns into a suspense drama about twenty years

after Horatio and Mousey moved to their house. Yes the word Walnuts is for the mental hospital

called the Walnut Manor that is 1 mile away from the eclipse (that's what Horatio and Mousey

called it).

The first thing I would like to say that this was a enjoying book. My reason is that I liked

how the author gave each character such character. In the book she put so much description and

enthusiasm in her characters. I find that each character has a huge part in this book.

The genre of this adventure/ romance/ and Drama. What I liked about books writing style

is how the author kept you up and ready for the next part that's what I enjoyed mostly about the

book. Her writing also gives you clues and in the end gives the answers part by part. The

author's voice is calm and surprising and I mean that by how she writes this story. Some quotes I

would like to share with you are "It's rather toughing" and " Isn't that sweet". I chose these

quotes for the reason to show how the author portrays her characters and

shows the love between the characters them selves.

Well how I felt about this book is that it was a very calm, easy and soothing book with a

little excitement. I found wanting to read more and more of it when I began. I just wanted to

know happened to these characters and how they handled through any problems or hard ships.. I

would recommend this to anyone with the interest in drama stories.

cute kids book
This book is very well illustrated and written. It is the story of a spoiled cat that runs away because its owners bring a new puppy in to the house... We read a lot of children's books, and while this may never become a classic; it is well priced and well presented, which is more than I can say for many of the childrens books we now own.

Thornwood Tigers Book Review
Our class thought this book was funny. We liked the part when the dog licked the cat. The pictures were very colorful and they had a lot of detail. Merl and the dog were hilarious! This book is Pur-r-r-rfect!

Such Fun!
I LOVE this book! I read it a couple of times in stores and laughed every time. I picked it up because of the cute Golden Retriever on the cover. (I have a dog like that) But it was the hilarious story telling from a cat's point of view that really made me laugh. I finally gave in and bought my very own copy to read to My Big Dog.

"In 1955, I accepted a call from the Classis of California of the Reformed Church in America to establish a church in central Orange County. Certainly the scope off the ministry that resulted is something no one could have predicted from its all-too-humble beginnings." This kind of grand yet understated tone pervades the autobiography of Robert Schuller, My Journey: From an Iowa Farm to a Cathedral of Dreams. Schuller's life began in 1926, "at the dead-end of a dirt road that had no name and no number." He was the fifth child in a poor, conservative family, and he grew into an earnest young man whose hard work and discipline fueled a rapid rise to success and power. Schuller's account of his personal life is both idealistic and candid (of his wedding night, Schuller writes, "The explosion of true joy and unalloyed affection was our reward for having waited to offer our virginity, each to the other!"). And his descriptions of his seminary years, his early ministries in the Midwest, and his move to California illustrate the development of his popular "Possibility Thinking" message, which built on the foundation of Norman Vincent Peale's The Power of Positive Thinking. Schuller's influence on American Christianity has been immense. He has muffled the doctrine of sinfulness in favor of an optimistic message about joy, success, and possibility. And although the reader may wish at times the author had used fewer exclamation marks and given himself more to circumspection, My Journey is an engrossing spin on the classic Horatio Alger tale. --Paul Power

You'll like it, even if you don't know who he is!
I wasn't a Robert Schuller devotee (nor am I now), but I really liked his autobiography. It's a good book in its own right. I especially liked the retelling of his growing up on a farm, and his and his wife's early days with their "drive-in" church in California. I even went to visit the Crystal Cathedral after I read this because I liked the book so much! (he is a TV preacher who believes in the power of positive thinking)

BE INSPIRED!
If Robert Schuller hasn't inspired you yet to think positively and trust in a higher power, this simple story of his life will. If you need proof that God has a plan for each of us, if you've ever questioned your own purpose on earth, if you are stuck in the rut of modern society, read the recollection of the trials and tribulations of the life of this simple, kind man who has done so much for so many. I've been a member of this church for a long time, but reading this story from his birth to the present has given me a new view of the awesome-ness of the mission Dr. Schuller and Arvella Schuller have built. I recommend this not only for viewers or followers of the church or Dr. Schuller, but also for the sceptics. I wonder if reading this man's journey will make you, too, look upon your own purpose and path in a different light. Above all else, I believe this is the motivation Dr. Schuller had for telling his own life story... to renew our own faith in positive thinking, ourselves and our God. Enjoy.

California Dreamin'
Dr. Schuller has been such an inspiration to me over the years. His sermons and books have encouraged me on numerous occasions. He helps me feed my mind the right substance. I identify with his migration to California from the interior part of the U.S. The way he tells the story is a true inspiration each time I read it. I was in the Crystal Cathedral in 2002 and it was liked standing in my dream. I was there, observing what I had read about and seen on television. In the American mythology, California is still the land of dreams.
Dreams which are given by God are to be pursued, according to Dr. Schuller's teaching. That's logical. His life shows how it's done.
