JESUS is an UNDENIABLE reality & HEAVEN truly EXISTS!
This book COMPLETELY eliminated my fear of death and drastically changed my outlook on LIFE here and now! Never has a literary work affected my day to day existence. THIS HAS! I've given it as a gift over 20 times to date and plan to continue doing so for the rest of my life here on earth. TEARS of joy flow uncontrollably throughout reading. Warmth, assurance, growth, new understanding, amazement, hope, joy, LOVE. It'll actually make you want to read your BIBLE.

Made me feel closer to Jesus, and I want to go there!
When I came to Christ my mom to be, gave me this wonderful book which only increased my desire to know him more personally. I can't wait to get to heaven as this is the only book that I have ever read that makes me feel close to Him. I just know it has to be like this as i have seen this in my dreams myself

Knock and it will be opened. Heaven in the purist sense
One of the first accounts of near death experience written by Rebecca Springer and published by David C. Cook in 1898.

I was fortunate to find this book at a yard sale and almost didn't take the time to look inside, since I couldn't translate the title. What a gem and so well written with wonderful detail of Ms Springer's visions on the other side of the veil.

During a very severe illness, Rebecca found herself alone with no one at her side and needing comfort turned to Jesus. Jesus was at her side and led her to the "promised land" where she was taken to visit relatives and friends who had passed over.

Her description of several "mansions" that have been prepared for the newly departed is very comforting and one realizes that we are just a "heartbeat" away from the other side.

The "refreshing water" from the lake where one is renewed and refreshed after passing over is very illuminating.

The various duties that one is given like helping those who are coming over and the "reunion" scenes are very enlightening.

Having had a near death experience in 1974, I can testify that this is "real" and very much in harmony with my own experiences.

I no longer fear death and was able to review my life and come to the understanding that "love" is the answer to living. Giving and receiving love and Jesus is here to love us unconditionally and to accept us in all our humanity.

My Journey to Serenity : Learning to Set Reasonable Boundaries

A journey we all should take
In "My Journey to Serenity," Kiki Hays Faktor explores the inner workings of the mind and heart as she draws her emotional line in the sand. Through the author's humor and thoughtful reveries she shows us how crucial boundaries are in human relations. The book's poetic format made the reading enjoyable and easily digestible. I found myself reading pages before I went to bed at night--as a reminder and a comfort.

Deeply touching my heart with the journey of her soul
This collection of a woman's journey through incredible odds to achieve a level of serenity that she has achieved is amazing. The pains as a mother, the Universe ripping her son from her and all the pain involved, cut to the quick of my own personal pain with my own son. The poetic structure and flow swept me down stream and kept me going and going until the end, and I wanted more. An excellent choice for a guide post to one woman's well journaled path to serenity, It was all about the journey, and that is what good writing is all about. This book is timeless.

Must reading for trudgers on the road to serenity...
This is one of the books that I leave "out" ... so that I can frequently pick it up and open to a random page. I always find something that fits. They are delightful 'zingers' that cut right to point of some obstacle of my thinking, or my action (or inaction) as the case may be. Kiki's writing is fluid and succinct, elegant yet efficient, inspired and inspirational. Recommended reading for anyone trudging the road to serenity. - Stanley M. author of "The Glumlot Letters"

for those times you never want to forget
This book is very wonderful, and in my opinion can be for a teenager too (I know because I am one). The pages are all black, but the book comes with a silver pen so you can fill in the pages. There are all kinds of neat things to fill out and pages to fill up with the kinds of things you'll cherish knowing 20 years down the road. A very lasting, great gift.

Wow! What a great gift!
I purchased this book for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas and she LOVES it! I am purchasing several more to give to her friends on their birthday. It is a great book especially for a young girl who is too old to be a "kid" and too young to be a teenager; although I'm sure many teenagers would love it! I would love one myself! We recently purchased some more gel pens to use in it and it really adds to the "personality" of the "book".

Great Fun!
I just received this for my 50th birthday from my best
friends! They filled out some of it, and now I will fill
in the rest. I love it! I now look forward to giving this book to friends of all ages!

One of the Best books on Conversational Hypnosis available -
This book is formatted as case studies. Many individual cases personally handled by Dr. Erickson are included in this volume. The best way to appreciate the value and effectiveness of conversational hypnosis is to experience Dr. Erickson's case studies. Dr. Milton Erickson has been called by many "the father of modern hypnotic therapy" and "the world's greatest hypnotist". If you take the time to review some of his case studies, it becomes obvious as to why he was regarded so highly in his field of expertise. I began my studies of Dr. Erickson's work when I noticed him being quoted so often in both self-improvement books and sales books. Of the many books by Dr. Erickson I have read, this one is by far the best one I have read. In the genres of self-improvement and human influence, this is by far one of the best books available.

My first copy was borrowed and never returned. As a result, I went to re-order this book, and discovered that my original supplier had discontinued this book. I have spent nearly two years attempting in vain to find another copy, and today, I was finally successful. After checking with more than 10 different local and nation-wide bookstores, and checking more than 15 online bookstores, I have finally located my first copy here at Amazon.com.

Great Book, and Great Bookseller.

Great Stories, Great Book
This is a great book loaded with lots life changing stories as told by Dr Milton Erickson. I found this to be well worth my money.

(Although Anthony Robbins is well known for teaching the masses about NLP, Dr Erickson was the real brain behind it.)

Zev Saftlas, Author of Motivation That Works: How to Get Motivated and Stay Motivated

Great book that I'll keep with me always.
This book is a real gem. Just from reading it, one immediately gets a feel for Mr Erickson's approach and technique. (Its a pity he's dead, I would've loved to meet this talented man in person even if its a one in a billionth chance.) The stories recounted are very interesting, even if just for their story-telling value. Its hard not to feel a sense of calm after reading one or two of them, which is amazing. Even if you don't "get" at first glance what each story is supposed to do for you...after reading each story, you know it had worked its magic on you even if in a small helpful albeit subconscious way. Normally I only read most books once, but this... I read again and again, time after time. This is one of those things I'll always carry with me, wherever I go and whichever country I'm in.

My Enemy the Queen

Average review score:

Fascinating historical novel covers the life of Elizabeth I.
This is a captivating novel that follows the life of Elizabeth I from her innocent girlhood to her eventual death as a never-married queen. The story is solidly based on actual events and people, from the book's narrator, Lettice, to the Queen's suitors, Robert Dudley and Robert Devereaux. The story is told from the point of view of Lettice, a cousin of the Queen's on the Boleyn side who is a rival for Robert Dudley's (Earl of Leicester) affections and who eventually becomes his wife. Lettice's son from her first marriage, Robert Devereaux (Earl of Essex), grows up to become himself a favorite of the Queen's, a situation not without complications. With some poetic license, the engaging stories of these characters/historial figures are set against the compelling backdrop of Elizabethean England; a wonderful read.

Fabulous page-turner
This is an intricately woven tale of a love triangle between Lettice Knollys, Robert Dudley, and Queen Elizabeth I. Not only does it include romance and betrayal, but it provides a different perspective of Tudor England and the inner circle of Queen Elizabeth's court. Mixing the talent of Holt and the interesting aspect of this particular time period makes this a wonderful book that you can't put down. I would recommend this to anybody who is looking for a quality read and is intrigued by shrewd Elizabeth and her elaborate court.

Excellent book!
Victoria Holt weaves an exquisite tale of suspense and romance culled from various journals and historical accounts about Queen Elizabeth I, the Earl of Leicester, Lettice Devereux and the Earl of Essex. This book is swift and entertaining reading, and while I found the Queen to be a vain and deceitful woman, the players at Court are dazzling and unforgettable. A real treat for Holt fans. You won't be able to put this down!

You may not know what a sea slug or a tomato frog looks like, but your kids will, especially after they get to know the animals in this charming board book. Designed to help babies and toddlers identify animals and develop vocabulary, this small, sturdy volume is vividly illustrated in the signature DK style: each page features several full-color animal photos crisply outlined against a white background. Kids will have a great time picking out their favorite animals from categories such as species and habitat, or by attributes like noisy, speedy, and spotty. As an added bonus, it's easy for little hands to hold and virtually indestructible--teething babies can chew to their heart's delight. (Baby to preschool) --Marianne Painter

I first received a DK Board book when I was expecting my now 20 month old twin boys. Since birth my husband and I have tried to read to them as much as possible an assortment of books. Always going back to their favorites-DK Board Books. Naming them all favorities but the number 1 is the Animals. They love to look at the great pictures and have learned all the sounds. This book and its adjoining set have wonderful pictures that show exactly what an object looks like and ALL children seem to just love them. I am finishing buying the set for Christmas and am waiting for more to come. GREAT GIFT FOR LITTLE ONES!!!

Excellent! we love DK books!
From the moment we discovered DK books, we have fallen in love! Yes, we want our son to have an imagination, but it's great to have books for him to see what REAL ANIMALS look like! There will be time later for blue dogs and purple cats......

Our toddler will sit and look at this book (and his other DK books) for the longest time. He's becoming very verbal and loves to imitate the animals.

These are wonderful first-books and I can imagine we will go through each copy we've got now and have to replace them again before long! I highly recommend these to all families.

Waht a resource
Book is built to last. It's two years old and only in two pieces. Which may seem like alot but our twins fight over it. Now our 1 year old want to get in on it as well. We may have theree pieces soon which is still acceptable given the rough housing over it.

A beautiful little book
Bunuel gave some interviews towards the end of his life discussing his long list of movies. That's why I was delighted to find that his autobiography--which is one of the greatest, if not the greatest by a filmmaker--does not dwell on them. Instead Don Luis chronicles his childhood and upbringing, the relationships he cultivated, and meditates on life, love, death, art, alcohol and cigarettes. Many of the stories from his younger days are even more surreal than his movies. He writes in detail about his stormy friendships with Garcia Lorca and Dali, about his half-hearted attempt to try Hollywood on for size, meetings with Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, and others. The book is not somber or sentimental, it's not over-inflated. Bunuel's voice does not intimidate, it soothes. He's a master storyteller, a very gifted and generous writer.

A Lovely Memoir
The late, great, Luis Buñuel's memoir is one of my 3 favorite books in all the world. Bunuel does not hesitate to be frank about his deepest thoughts and fears, and in doing so, illuminates his superb and unique place in cinema history. This book should forever dispel the notion that Buñuel was an "intellectual" filmmaker. Indeed, no other filmmaker has ever had so pure an id-directed vision. There are other rewards as well, in Buñuel's accounts of his andalusian youth and introduction to the surrealists, and his friendships with Federico Garcia Lorca and Salvador Dali. A genuine delight of a read!

Delightful!
I finished this book with the feeling that I'd just spent my time with the most entertaining dinner guest imaginable. In "My Last Sigh," Luis Bunuel comes across as amusing, unpretentious, and completely modest about his accomplishments. He is not afraid of venting his opinions on everything from religion to the perfect martini. So entertaining is this delightful autobiography that one almost forgets that Bunuel is one of the masters of cinema. Instead, we are left with the impression of an eminently sane person who has fully enjoyed his life and his work. And, as is the case with many geniuses, he makes it all sound so easy. I will never forget this passage from his book: "...memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all.... Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing." How lucky for us that Bunuel left us with these irreplaceable memories shortly before his death in 1982.

Impressive
Several months ago, I was asked to read this book. Let me be first to say "never judge a book by its cover". I read 100 pages in a few hours. This is a coming of age, love story that takes on a very indept look at the life of Eric Brown. It was funny, true to life and at times over the top (but that does not mean that it could not happen) and romantic.

Alex's writing is clever and to the point. He does not waste a lot of time telling you the story eventhough sometimes I think he give you too much information (I liked the vacation on the island but I did not need that detail explainaion of the room decor). For his first novel, I think that Alex has written a very clever book that is different from a lot of the other stories that we are reading. I thought the poetry was really good. My personal favorite is "BLACK". Once you met Alex, his appeal will no doubt convenience you that the book is worth reading.

And speaking of covers- The illustration was made by his teenage son! That is very impressive.

Congratulations Again Alex!! I look forward to your next novel from BET books.
Peace and Blessings!!

Surprisingly Hot and Romantic
From the frist page to the last page I was hooked on this book.It
started with something so tender and soft I just couldn't wait to tell my friends about this book.It had me laughing, wanting to be the women in the love making scenes, and it also caught me with the poems.I loved this book can't wait to read the next one.Hope it is as good as this one.Just absolutely incredible writing.

Sensual and Poetic!
This wonderful book was a joy to read. Alex definitely has a way with words and it will be no surprise before a major publisher snatches him up. The brother in the book however was a sex fiend *lol* but I loved the poetry and I loved how the character initially found himself.

He's An Author
Damn it.
That's what I thought when "My Life, A Novel" by Gene Cowen arrived.
Now I must read this. I hate amateur productions from school plays to books by friends who have not earned the right to the title author.
However, after all, he had read a book I wrote and responded kindly.
Ergo, I started. But, grudgingly.
An hour later I was still reading.
And a day later, putting aside other activities that interested me, I finished this unique piece of literature.
Imagine a writer telling the story of his life and intermingling each chapter with another that was fiction. Fact and fantasy under one title
How would one make such a cockamamie idea work?
He had created the formula because it did work.
His own life, spanning insider experience with Members of both the House of Representatives and Senators and finally as a key staffer in the White House, is an autobiographical narrative that would compel an attentive read by an audience of people who lived through the filet of the past century..
The novel (fantasy phases) chapters are intertwined with what really happened; in fact,. Mr. Cowen has magically managed to placed them in sync with his autobiography.
There are insights in this book on Nixon from Mr. Cowen who worked with him in the White House. It also includes the way Nixon was viewed by his other close advisers - and the way this President felt about them. The revelations are surprising.
He also is in a position to show and, indeed, does show ,the human side - good and not so great - of many in the United States Senate. And when he writes he does with authority for early in his career he was a high-level aide to many in Congress and later dealt with Senators. In fact he dealt with all 100 of them, as the chief Washington lobbyist for The American Broadcasting System.
Reading what the author has to say about his years at the highest levels in politics is a revelation. To him, politics is not a four-letter word. After this book any reader also should gain a clearer insight.
You should read "My Life, A Novel." It's an education that entertains.
And, by the way - he's an author.

my life, a novel by gene cowen
Gene Cowen has had a fascinating life; his fantasy life is equally as fascinating. This is a suberbly written and interesting account of a man's life and of his life as it might have been.It is also filled with information about Washington politics, working for congressmen and a senator and working at the the White House.

Sometimes it is a little difficult to determine whether or not some of the fantasy is factual or based on historical fact or neither. However, this makes the book even more difficult to put down. I have deliberately avoided referring to the details of the story for I fear that doing so might detract from the reader's enjoyment of this very interesting, sometimes funny and sometimes poignant book. It is more than just a casual read, for it details a period of our nation's history which many of us still remember and some of us, perhaps, wish we didn't.The book is short and an easy read belying its outstanding substance.

An exiting life
Gene has an exiting life, and he relates it to us in a manner that is easy to read and understand. His method of moving from real life to fantasy leaves the reader glued to each and every chapter. I recommend this book to all who have an interest in real life experiences.

Midwest Book Review
In her first book, Nancy Machlis Rechtman puts a slightly different spin on the heartbreaking problem of infertility.
My Little One is a strong work of fiction featuring multi layered characters living realistic every day lives. Humans are not perfect and neither is real life. The author captures every nuance of human nature perfectly.

Emma Bronfman and her husband Steve are childless after seven years of marriage. Emma's watched friends and family conceive and give birth, attended baptisms and brisses. At thirty-five, she's no longer the pretty young bride full of hope. She's suffered through hormone therapy and the resulting mood swings, grieved over one failed insemination after another, and the strain has precipitated her husband's infidelity. Despite the trials, they love each other, but Emma sees herself as barren, harboring that empty, desolate despair of a wife who can't conceive. And then, as if things weren't bad enough, her sixty one year old father and his twenty five year old fiancee are expecting.

I loved this story. It has humor and pathos, despair and hope, dispensed by the generous hand of a promising new writer.

My Little One
As someone who has followed the stages of several couples from the moment
they found out they couldn't have children to the healthy births of two for
each couple, through 'in vitro fertilization', I found this book to be
poignant, funny, and tearful. This easy read novel provides life lessons for
everyone in fortitude. The characters are wonderfully drawn and every reader
will recognize grandma Hannah in his or her own family. The author has
successfully tackled a very touchy subject and made the struggles of
infertility understandable to those who have always taken for granted the
simple act of conception.

Caring Characters
To be honest, I didn't really think I would identify much with My Little One's main character, Emma Bronfman. She's a Jewish Californian with infertility problems and a husband she doesn't quite trust; I'm an Alabama Baptist with three kids and an overly devoted husband. But since I love Nancy Rechtman's columns, I wanted to read her novel, and I'm sure glad I did.

By the end of chapter one, I felt as if Emma and I were best friends. I held my breath along with her each time she waited to see if she was pregnant and cried with her when she wasn't. I agonized with her over her job woes and her father's impending marriage, laughed with her at her grandmother's cranky remarks and the fun she had with her best friend and sister-in-law. I raged with her at her mother-in-law's insensitive button-pushing, and was seduced with her by her sexy, good-looking husband. As Emma searched her soul and tried to find answers to her life's questions, her musings rang so true that I found myself nodding in agreement as I read, and when she longed to be able to talk to her mother about everything, I missed my own mama and mourned right along with Emma.

When I finished My Little One, I was truly sorry to have to say goodbye to my new Jewish friend in California, but I knew she would be all right because she was loved by so many people, including me.
