FYI
I'm selling my copy, and the "notes" field didn't have room for the following information:

This book is from 1992, so the disks included are 5 1/2" floppies. They probably won't work any longer. I'm willing to bet you could get 3 1/2" floppies by calling the publisher's toll-free number, but I don't know that for sure.

The Exeter Anthology of Old English Poetry: An Edition of Exeter Dean and Chapter MS 3501 (Exeter Medieval English Texts and Studies)
Published in Hardcover by Northwestern University Press (January, 1995)
Author: Bernard J. Muir
Amazon base price: $130.00
Average review score:

Best edition available - soon to be reprinted!
I have had the pleasure of studying under Bernard Muir, and his dedication to Old English was more than apparent in class; he really made the texts come alive, and his enthusiasm was infectious.

This two-volume set is the first complete edition of the Exeter Book (a tenth-century manuscript containing some of the best poetry in Old English) since the 1930s, and is a much-needed revision based upon the intervening decades of scholarship. The dust jacket boasts more than 400 previously unnoticed alterations and corections, and there are certainly plenty footnoted.

The commentary is also comprehensive, with pretty much everything you might ask for (except translation - this book is very definitely for those who can speak or at least read the language).

The CD-Rom edition will be published soon, and I seem to recall that it was intended to have the pages as images as well as in text format (I could be wrong). Still, for those who like books, and who are interested in the very earliest of English literature, this is a definitive work.

A Great Garden Companion
This is a beautiful book you can trust to provide solid guidance on growing not only perennials, but companion annuals and vines that tolerate hot, humid conditions. Sullivan also presents lots of ideas for creating beautiful gardens in a range of sites, such as deep shade or at the beach. One of my favorite sections is called "Don't even think of growing these plants here," in which she shares wisdom on plants that are doomed in this climate. Every coastal gardener should have this book.

Girls Seen and Heard: 52 Life Lessons for Our Daughters

One of the glib new "facts of life" is the conviction that American girls founder badly in adolescence, their confidence and I.Q. points plummeting as they wriggle into the restrictive pop culture roles assigned to their gender. This loss of self is well supported by research, true, but parents and educators who've heard this often enough must long to scream at the professional handwringers, "So fix it!" Girls Seen and Heard is a sincere, often artful attempt to do just that.

The brainchild of activists at the Ms. Foundation for Women, the book sets out collaborative assignments for mothers, godmothers, grandmothers, aunts, and daughters that encourage girls to believe in themselves, explore their options, and learn to command respect. Happily, it pointedly puts to rest the myth that helping girls has to mean hurting boys. For older women, each of the 52 life lessons is a chance to recall gifts, setbacks, and growing pains and truthfully share these with the next generation. A lesson in resilience, for example, admits that every life has dead ends and explores why some people are able to turn their anger toward transforming stressful situations. The activity suggested is to divide a list of personal and global injustices into those that can't be changed (a girl's height, the amount of rain forest already destroyed) and those that can be affected by well-aimed efforts. Though the ambitious scope of the book is sometimes daunting, its abundant, imaginative object lessons would also work beautifully if read and used piecemeal. --Francesca Coltrera

Great Book for all ages
Upon hearing about this book, I immediately rushed to the book store to grab a copy. As a seven year participant of Take Our Daughters to Work Day, I know the great impact that the Ms. Foundation has had on the lives of countless young women across the nation. Each of the 52 stories describe life lessons which all young women should learn: be open to new possibilities, develop mentors, gain your independence. Truly, this book is a must-read for all.

A True Value
I am a student at a local business school. I began using Gregg College Keyboarding & Document Processing, Lessons 1-60, in mid February, 2001. It has really changed the way that I type, and has given me a chance to learn the proper way to process documents. Initially, I thought the book to be kind of boring, since I already had a basic knowledge of the keyboard. However, as time progressed and I got further into the book, I learned how wrong I was. I always though document processing to be self-expanantory, but learning the correct manner of formatting letters, reports, memos, tables, cover pages, resumes, etc., and the improvement of my spelling, grammar, and punctuation have changed my outlook on finding future employment. I am very grateful to the writer's of this book for putting together such a wonderful program. Thank you!

Great guide to a great series
Not only does this excellent book give details on the mobile suits, mobile armor, vehicles, characters, and technology featured in the 08th MS Team series, it also puts all of this in the context of Mobile Suit Gundam, the series that these events take place in the midst of. A good buy for any MS Gundam fan.

Excellent book to learn DOS 5
J.D Watson has written an easy to understand and systematically laid out book for the beginner to learn DOS 5. My 75 year old mother learned to use DOS from this book with no other classes. It is used as the text book for DOS 5 at Colorado Mountain College. DOS is never easy, but Dr. Watson has done an excellent job
