Best gardening book I've found for the South
This is the best gardening book I've found with practical advice for gardening in the hot, often drought stricken South. His advice is right on, practical, and delivered in an often humous style. It is evident that Mr. Rushing has both first-hand experience as well as textbook knowledge. I can already tell this is going to be one of the most treasured books in my library.

Written for anyone wanting to get something from dirt.
I feel as if I know this guy. I use the book year round. I may not remember where I left my digging fork but I know where I left Felder's book. When I kill another plant, Felder tell's me where I went wrong. When I get a complement on a plant, I give him credit. The book tells you what to plant, when to plant it, where to plant it, and when to gather the seeds or divide the plant. Whenever I dig a new hole or pinch off an early bud I have already consulted this book to be sure the time is right. The monthly almanac pages are almost worn out. I do not turn the page on my monthly calendar before I consult the almanac to be sure the yard is ready for the next month. Felder is not just the holder of horticulture degrees, he is a dirt worker with lots of experience.

A wonderful resource for a gardener new to Tennessee
This is a lovely book. I'm an experienced gardener in England and my husband bought me this when we moved to Tennessee. It has given me the confidence to understand what I'm doing in this new climate, and to ensure that my efforts to 'improve' the land I garden here won't damage it.

The book has good detailed information on native plants and starting points for acquiring them.

Normally with a reference book on any subject, I would just dip into it as needed. This one I picked up and read cover to cover !

Excellent handbook on Tennessee natives
On my first gardening day after purchasing Margie Hunter's book, I used it at least three times to make sure I had the right plant in the right growing conditions. Margie has managed to squeeze an amazing amount of information in a small space, using a very pleasing format. Her book, while providing excellent details, presents the information with a chatty, casual voice, as though one was getting advice from a neighbor with a very green thumb. The section on the geology of Tennessee was a delightful surprise for me with its explanation of the origin of the variety of soils within our state. My only criticism of the book is the size of the excellent photographs. While the handbook size of the book makes it easy to take to the garden for reference, these middle-aged eyes of mine find the small pictures a little disappointing. For Tennessee gardeners in particular, and mid-south gardeners in general, anyone interested in gardening with native plants will find this book to be a thorough, well-researched and enjoyable aid to their efforts.

Inside AutoCad 12 is worth every dollar.
Inside AutoCad 12 For DOS ISBN 1562050559
While a co-worker was spending hundreds of dollars to
learn AutoCad at the local collage, I learned as much at
the same pace at home with this fine book. It should be sub-titled as a tutorial. The book begins assuming you know nothing about AutoCad,
and carefully explains in a straight-forward method all you need to know. Everything is done in sequence so each excercise teaches
new commands to be used in following drawings. It is a great primer
for new users learning 2-D basics, and I have shared it with experienced users at work as a reference manual for 2-D
and 3-D drawings. The book comes with a disk with programs
to help you learn which was a real time-saver for me. I would recommend this book to all beginning and professional
AutoCad users. I have other titles from The New Riders Publishing Company, and they have all been a very good investment.

All the recipes work
I love this cook book. Not only has it taught me how to feel confident using spices in my own creations but it's such great value for money cause all the recipes work. I can confidently try a new dish for guests and know that from this cook book it will turn out right. If I only even owned one cook book I would want it to be this one. When is the author going to come out with a second book ?

A Medieval Pilgrim's Companion : Reassessing, El Libro De Los Huespedes, Escorial Ms.H.L.13 (North Carolina Studies in the Romance Languages and Literatures, No. 261)

Author: Thomas D. Spaccarelli

Modern appreciation of medieval tales
Whether you are a dedicated medieval scholar or merely have a layman's interest in the area, there is much insight to be gleaned from this highly expository and very readable treatise.
Ever wonder what all that symbolism meant in thousand year old Christian art? Or how it related to those who created and heard the oral histories of the time? This fascinating book ties together explorations of language, medieval history, religious mythology and physical as well as spiritual pilgrimage, and their impact on modern understanding of this turbulent period.

Excellent Literature About Literature
Tom Spaccarelli was one of my professors at the University of the South (Sewanee TN). He was a major influence as a teacher -- fanning the flames of my passion for Medieval and Renaissance literature -- and has remained a major influence as a friend. I hear his voice on every page of this book. But for those who don't know him, I'll let him introduce the work himself (from Chapter I, INTRODUCTORY REMARKS). "The codex traditionally known as Ms. h.I.13 of El Escorial, which I have named the *Libro de los huespedes,* has generally been edited by medievalists as nine separate works ... "This now traditional fragmentation of the codex has resulted in our failure to perceive that the book was compiled and comprehended in its own time as a unified work. Modern editions of the separate chapters, produced in the tradition of scholarly concepts such as source texts, regularization of language, literary genres, the primacy of the relationship author/work, etc., have diminished our ability to comprehend the unique and unified nature of the LH, thereby distorting our knowledge and appreciation of the canon of medieval Spanish literature. I intend to show in this study that the LH is a text intimately related to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and to various religious, literary, and artistic traditions associated with it. To restore the integrity of this text, I believe, is also to provide a more historically accurate view of medieval Spanish culture and of the concerns and issues that fired the enthusiasm of medieval people."

The Shafted Strike Back
Remember that capsule they sent into space with examples of earth art to show any aliens out there what it means to be human? I wonder what they'd think if they found this dazzling book on board. Magee's put the English through a cyclotron of contemporary American voicings and come out the other side with a souped-up language that feels big enough and fast enough to just about cover Where We Are Now. The title "MS" moves in a lot of directions--manuscript, multiple sclerosis, the gender-savvy "miz"--and the poems touch on all of these and then some, often in the same stanza. I especially like the way Magee takes quirks of the language like homonyms and puns and uses them to explore a crazy quilt of subjects most of us would never think to loop together. Like in "Daughters of the American Revolution," where he moves the word "wesson" from guns to cooking oil to black gold to blackness with the warp speed of a master turntablist. Or "Leave a Light On," which rings the changes on the meanings of "shaft" (think Isaac Hayes meets Lucky Charms). Or "P"--one guess where that starts--where a schoolyard rhyme gets hit with some seriously funny theory.

There's a deeply American rat-a-tat to these poems that owes a lot to hip-hop's verbal glee ("this is a fact check/from the girl at the hat check with a hatchet"). But Magee draws on whole families of vernaculars, black and otherwise, and manages to graft them onto wider poetic traditions in a way that seems totally natural:

"Death, maybe, isn't gluttonous, as in Donne-
it's more like someone says to Him, "You
want the rest of this cheeseburger?" and He
says, "I guess so."

or:

"the belles of St. Mary knell
'The Real Slim Shady.'"

Magee's out for more than just nyuks; these poems tackle some heavy questions about mortality, history and the way gender, ethnicity and race consciousness graffiti our personal manuscripts. "MS" trades fours with a good chunk of American culture and, by the time you close the covers, you half-believe it just might win. I hope this exciting collection finds the readers it deserves. Even on Uranus.

FROM THE BACK COVER
Stuttering turns into syncopation in this edgily engaging collocation of accents, attitudes, occasions. The poems in MS are provocative, certainly without idealization, the dollars-and-cents context of our grainy American dream. Mike Magee's detailed optical-ocular orbiting effects -- "other-wise / waning or adroitly loitering" -- make reading this collection a constant surprise.

---Susan Howe

Does the poet diagnose a medical condition or continue a feminist tradition? Is it a motor ship or a manuscript? A degree of science or a software appliance? Recklessly eyeballing Mike Magee's "grainy American dream," my
optic nerves jangle to the tune of jump-cut language, slurred and blurred words flashed on the screen of memory with a quick trigger finger on the universal remote. Magee's MS interrupts our programming with his alternative vision.

---Harryette Mullen

The discursively promiscuous clauses of these poems-cut generously with a slide-wit on the national symbols blared, dice up much of the lingering prosaic transparency of American Poetry (Inc.). Here's no monologic gnosis gnashing of "repressed subject" possibilities, while at the same time no fashionable duncing of the socially determinative either. This rhetor's got the apps (and multiplexed 'mouth') to get you to the next level-Your Turn.

---Rodrigo Toscano

Michael Magee's MS is new music . . . a carnivalesque palimpsest of vision and ventriloquy, supple rhythm informed by Hiphop era ironies and an erudite grasp of postmodern poetics. This marvelous Century 21 ethnic American remix of personal history and society's mystery is both demanding and delightful. You need this book! Mr. Magee creates poems that tickle the ear and open a new window in the mind's eye. Read aloud. Think fast.

A Classic Treatment of the subject
I'm looking at this book in 2001 and learning a lot that I had always wondered about. Using this book as a springboard to explore the new features of the Windows 2000 batch commands is eye-popping! Very useful....recommended.

Excellent Reference! I still use this after 11 years.
There are some parts of this book that are outdated but most of it is still applicable in todays environment. I am currently using it as a reference to write batch files to administer a large NT network.

Gracias, Dr. Goldberger, excelente trabajo.

For someone who needs TECHNICAL information, this is it!
I had seen this book listed in the back of one of my MS-DOS books, and my employer happened to have a copy of it. I took it home for the weekend and was blown away. I IMMEDIATELY bought a copy. This is much more than your average book on interrupts. He goes into some serious detail. You want to know a HUGE list of interrupts and how to use them? Need the pinouts for a PS/2 power supply? How about the pinouts with a description of EACH PIN for the 8086 up to 80486 CPU's and co-processors? It's all in here. Exhaustive list of tables, pinouts, little known secrets, listing of ROM BIOS functions, all the referencing to it, and MUCH more. This is one COMPREHENSIVE book. It was written at the time of DOS 5 and Windows 3.0, so remember, it's not new (1991), however, a HUGE amount of information still applies. Anywhere from the XT to 486, from MDA to VGA, from hard disk tables to EMS, and from expansion slot pin outs to card sizes, this book has it all. He has taken the technical information from DOZENS of books and included it in one large volume.

Fantastic, concise software and hardware reference
I use this book whenever I need to look up details of software interrupts, cabling, connectors, backplane layout, data structures, and many more things. This book exceeds any other I have used for internals of software and hardware for the PC.

Very technical but very useful.
The 4th edition of Small Animal Clinical Nutrition is significantly different from the first 3 editions -- expanded, more information, different editors, different organization, etc.

Much of this volume is more technical than the average reader wants or needs. It is a textbook used in veterinary schools. But a dedicated reader could gain much from it. Even the average reader could benefit from the chapters on commerical pet foods and on home prepared diets.

Contributions
Is good to see this book is not just written by nutriologist, there is an important contribution of clinicians dedicated to specific areas.
