Southeastern Wildflowers
This book is a gem! Southeastern Wildflowers is a very informative and useable book. Its small format and plastic cover make it even useable in the garden! The author covers basics of culture and propagation in a "reader friendly" way. The language is informative and concise, without talking over the heads of beginners. Cultural requirements and propagation notes for featured plants are covered in depth, and in most cases, the author also lists several related species, with notes on differing cultural requirements for those as well. I think this will become one of the books I use most often for growing and propagating native wildflowers. The only shortcoming I can mention is that I didn't find a couple of my (more obscure) favorites there, but many, many plants and families are covered. How wonderful to find a really great reference book at such an affordable price too.

The Garden as A Life Metaphor
Lydia Longshore's, The Southern Garden, is not the typical pretty picture book about gardens. Although it is lavishly photographed, and written by a true garden lover and gardener, Longshore unflinchingly describes the breakup of her marriage and her attempts to "bring order and beauty to the bleakest of domestic moments."

Her description of her childhood, her family, her own children, and her recovery after her divorce is haunting but without a trace of self pity.

Longshore takes the idea of the garden and illustrates how much human life is truly part of the natural life: planting, growth, pruning, death -- all these events happen both in a garden and in one's life.

As profound as any book of philosophy, as well as vastly informative, and lushly romantic.

A wonderful, helpful book
This is a great, helpful book written in a clear and concisestyle. It is full of lots of suggestions and even has pages that youcan xerox to help keep your own journal of your illness. The appendices in the back are chock full of further resources, too. A good basic book that is packed with info and ideas.

Teach Yourself & a Handy DOS Reference, too
Really well done! This is the one to get for learning DOS on your own and at your own pace.

Very thorough, too, at 478 pages. The large clean printing type was smartly chosen, which makes a more comfortable read.

This book assumes no previous computer experience, so if you do have it, you can progress even faster through it.

Excellent resource for southern gardeners
We southern gardeners are often the envy of other gardeners in the country because of our long growing seasons and ability to grow a wide range of plants. However, we know that it sometimes not a walk in the park - dealing with heat, humidity, erratic weather, drought and insects is not that much fun.

The plants that thrive in our gardens have to be tough and tried and true. This book profiles plants that have been around a long time and have proven to perform reliably in the south. Annuals, Perennials, Shrubs and Trees, Porch Plants (Houseplants), Bulbs and Vines are covered here. Each section includes 10-20 major plants with detailed information on growing conditions, planting, etc.

The photos are great especially the whimsical "garden art" that is often seen in the rural south. The author also includes anecdotes about his family and people's attitudes towards gardening. This is a fun and useful book!

Weigh to Go gives trustworthy dieting advice.
Weigh to Go is written by professionals who have decided to share the wisdom of years of experience with the public. Two of the hardest obstacles to overcome when dieting are sorting through the overwhelming information available on the subject and being consistant. Accurate medical information about current fads and popular programs can help dieters utilize a program that is right for them, and the positive tone of the book motivates and battles discouragement. Weigh to Go is an essential tool for healthy living.
