Great Guide
This book is an excellent guide to upper body wrestling. Very useful pictures and text by great athletes. While no book can replace actual training a good one (like this) can provide the theory and correct technique descriptions to guide you and serve as a source of reference. This book is well worth investing into!

MMA Fanatics Review
I have to say this book is quite awsome, not just from a Amatuer Wrestling stand point, but Also from a self defense stand point. Oddly in MMA circles we devote huge amounts of time into studying Freestyle takedowns. We often over look the value of Basic Greco tactics. I found the adive on where to grab your oppoent for control to be worth the price of the book. Combine what you read in this book with some Boxing, low kicks, and a few submissions you will have a formatible repitore. Still I have to say this is a book, not a video. If you can't put whats going on together in your mind you might want to but the US coaches syllsbus.

Stay On Your Feet!
This is possibly the best book on Greco Roman Wrestling in print. I have a copy of Greco- Roman Wrestling by M. Briggs Hunt which has drawings rather than photos and is no longer in print, which is also very good. Greco Roman teaches holds for above waist, and is practiacal for street fighing, and has holds you can use staying on your feet ...
Train hard and have fun!

Tips and techniques for growing Popular Perennials, bulbs, tubers, herbs, shrubs, small trees, vines, and more, are discussed, as well as climate issues to be aware of along the coastal south, as well as regional environmental issues and personal insights from the author. A relaxing and engaging guide for those who love to garden, or who simply love to read about gardening, Gardening In The Coast South is a superb reference and a highly recommended regional gardening guide.

The real South
If you are a southern by birth, this book will delight you with memories of the old days. You will rejoice at the memories that surface while reading this conversational style presentation.
If you are new to the South, prepare yourself to encounter a friend and expert in the pleasures of gardening.

If more writing could be done by people like Marie, who have had their hands in the soil, we could more easily enjoy our flora and fauna. What a style!!!!

...her passion for Gardening ignites like passion in others!
I have this book because I know this lady's passion for gardening! Even though I live outside the Zone 8, I find this book to be extremely useful for my Zone 7 garden. In building a new home, her book is a "book of choice" in giving information that will help me garden more successfully.

I loved Marie Harrison's story-telling style. I enjoyed the tales of her family and how these experiences influenced her outlook on gardening and life in general.

I give it a thumbs up!

This Book Needs to Be Reissued!
Please, someone in the publishing business . . . check out the reviews here . . . and think about reissuing this book. My friend and I loved this book and it also became a victim of being loaned or lost. (She blames me, I blame her . . . it's ugly!) Everywhere I've looked for old copies, this little book runs $150-350. My friend also went to UC Berkeley, and became an architect and this book played a key role in her later interest.

Wish I could find it..............
Well I can say enough good things about this book, It has been my favorite for as long as I can remember, it as the first present I ever gave to my best friend Kristin, I think it was her 3rd or 4th birthday. Now one of my close friends has become a teacher and I would love for her to share the joy of this wonderful book in her classroom! I am trying Ginny!

Ms. Mouse
The concept is simple, but this is in my opinion one of the best childrens' books on the market. The drawings are creative and unique. This book has inspired my love of architecture.

...And that has made all the difference!
The sheer variety of roads traveled in this inspirational, humorous, and engaging book illustrates the difference between merely taking baby steps through life and thriving on your journey. This book introduces us to real-life people planning and achieving awesome goals--yet living very much in the moment. Their stories resound with authenticity, humor, awareness, and determination. I felt myself nodding in agreement at so many of their reactions to everyday obstacles. You certainly don't have to have MS to thoroughly enjoy this book. You only have to be human.

Margot, you and your contributors are correct.
I have just finished When the Road Turns....boy, there are many inspirational stories out there....Boy, I must admit that when I was first diagnosed 14 years ago, I felt so alone. I had a variety of emotions which I had never experienced....

I can now see my emotions were not exclusive to me. For a variety of reasons, I am living well with my MS. I am very lucky.....great neurologist, great family, greater wife...

Good luck to all fellow MSer's!.. You'll love this book!...

When The Road Turns
Excellent read. Inspirational for everyone, not only those who have MS. Makes one realize we can do anything we set our minds to. My hat is off to all the contributors; congratulations on a book and life well done!

Orene's Garden
It's March and I just finished the April section of Clippings from Orene's Garden. I am astounded at the wealth of information!
The flowering trees and shrubs and vines that are available for the South Carolina yard are described in color, foliage, and scent and include the names both local and Latin.
There is practical advice on perennials and annuals: where to plant them; how to prepare the soil; how to show them off in containers or beds, in masses for traffic-stopping color, or even between rows in a vegetable garden.
Perhaps the biggest delight for me was the section on tomatoes. The directions and suggestions here have given me the courage to try (after I find some sun in my much-shaded yard.) I was interested to read her sister Betty's method and am already thinking of people who might let me "raid" their pastures.
This is a fabulous book, and Orene was a gardener of rare ability and generosity. For years to come this book will inspire us to plan and dream and then rush to our nearest garden center.

Practical gardening tips
For someone, like me, who does little gardening, Orene's book is a helpful guide in giving practical gardening tips.....some even in step-by-step instructions. In reading this book, the gardening ideas were written in layman's terms....easy to understand concepts. I appreciate Orene's added wisdom and humor pertaining to life and to the garden. Having known Orene for over thirty years, reading this book gave me a new appreciation for the depth and passion she had for gardening.

Clippings from Orene's Garden
Orene Stroud Horton, renowned garden writer and true southern lady gives us a wealth of practical and artistic information in this book. It is a wonderful resource for novice to expert gardners, as well as pleasant reading. Espically important are the numerous plant combinations that provide guidance to southern gardners for beautiful color and texture. It wonderful to have her wisdom in one place and not scattered on many slips of paper. A special thanks to her family who have made this gift available to all.

The Ms.Spent Money Guide
Many book are interesting to read, and then you forget all about them. Not "The MsSpent Money Guide," which I refer to over and over again. It is a book that has changed my life. Most of us feel helpless before ubiquitous money problems. Deborah Knuckey's book teaches you that you can be in charge of your financial welfare, that you are the architect of your future, and that you can be as well off moneywise as you want to be. She says, "Why spend so much of your life working if you don't use your earning in a way that makes you ahppy? Even if you love your job, most work is siimply not that much fun that we'd do it purely for the joy of it. So take the payment for your work and put it to your own best use." Knuckey believes that each of us has different life values, and it is foolish to go along with everyone else's. What mattters, she writes, is that your spending fit your own needs and not that of the Joneses. Some people like fine clothes, others could care less what they wear. Some of us enjoy eating in fine restaurants, others prefer cooking at home.Whatever it is that you enjoy, that is what you should be spending your money on. What matters is not how much money you have, but that it is invested in what will make you happy. Deborah Knuckey will teach you haow to do it. Don't miss reading this book, if you want to enjoy life to the fullest.

Ms Spent - right on the money!
Deborah Knuckey offers a fresh look at personal money management. Deborah challenges her readers to focus on what is really important in life and to align your energy (and your money) on what will make you and your family happy. I would encourage everyone in the "work world" to take a step back from their daily routine and read this book - you'll never view a paycheck the same way again!

Great way to rethink your money
I have the hardback edition of this book and love it - it still sits on my desk and I refer to it a fair bit. I like the way the author realizes that the eky to managing spending is more psychological than logical - and she gives easy to follow solid advice about how to get out of your own way and get into good habits.

My advice: if you want to get more for your money - Buy it!

Native Florida Plants: Low Maintenance Landscaping and Garde
As a fairly new resident of Florida I look forward to Robert Haehle's NGA email each month, with his great advise & tips. This book is a "must have" for anyone new to tropical gardening, as well as, the Southern natives. The information & beautiful photos are especially helpful in identifying what is in my yard & what I would like to add.

Phenomenal Book
This was very helpful. It organizes plants by type, but gives enough information so you know where they best grow. It has lots of color pictures and also some landscape designs that make it easy for you to create something for your own yard (especially if you are a beginner). I wish there were something like this for the Pacific Northwest (now that I've moved).

Find the native Florida plant you need!
This is a great reference book for anyone living in Florida, who wants to identify and learn about native Florida plants. The book includes a photo of each plant with the common and botanical names. It provides zone numbers and descriptions of each plant's average height & light requirements. Also, bloom information, fruit, leaves, trunk, habitat, propagation and appearance descriptions. Chapters are divided by basic plant type - large trees, small trees, palm trees, wildflowers, etc.

Excellent text, but photos not so good
The writing in this book was very good, and I especially liked that the author had personally tested the plants for this difficult climate. But, unfortunately many of the photos were blurry and unprofessional looking. Since the photos are always a favorite part for me of any plant book this did detract from an otherwise very good book. I will look for her next book Best Color Garden for Florida in a bookstore before buying so I can see that the photos don't have the same poor quality.

This book is soooo useful
Full of color photos in a large format, this book is essential if you want a decent looking garden in South Florida. All the other gardening books either dismiss this part of the country or give very cursory information. I like that her recommendations are field-tested and she gives additional information, like the lifespan of the plant. Well worth the money.

Wish I found this sooner.....
As a new South Florida gardener, I wasted money on three other books before I found this one. High glossy pictures on every page alone makes it worth the money. This author has tested all kinds of plants and isolated the best and easiest for this area -- as well as talking about care, possible problems, and suggested companions for each plant. I'm glad I found this book before I started re-landscaping my yard - I expect it saves me a lot of money. IF you live in South Florida - it's worth every penny!

Footnote Jan 2003: It has been 6 months since I used this book to re-landscape, and everything is now filling in beautifully.
Everything I chose is thriving. And the yard looks great.
