"Not again!" she shrieks.
"What?"

"For the love of God, not yet ANOTHER thirty year old virgin placed in an untenable, thoroughly unbelievable setting!"

"What are you talking about? The character's actually supposed to be some thirty year old---good god!---VIRGIN? What? Did this take place in a convent?"

"No, not a convent, in some place called Paradise-something-or-other in Florida. And what a dreary town it was! All those harping neighbors talking in circles---what, am I supposed to think that's CHARMING? They could inspire a reader to self mutilation with all their useless, page-filling arguments! CUT OUT MY EYES! I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER WORD!"

"Egad. Sounds banal."

"Banal? BANAL? It's not just banal, my friend, it's downright a waste of money and time. Women of this day and age are RARELY virgins, nor are they irrational, whining idiots who think men who constantly condescend to them are somehow DESIREABLE. As IF."

"Ugh. Sorry it was such a horrible experience."

She sighs, looks him over with an arched brow. "Ah well, it's all right. I won't buy her books again. But you can come here and show me what real romance is all about."

***

Which is all to say: Me no likey. You no buy.

It WAS a frustrating book, on the whole...
...for multiple reasons, most of which other reviewers have touched upon. One thing that bothered me was why on earth, once they'd figured out what was going on, they didn't just go on home. I sure would have!

My primary problem - which, however, may be something that only bothers me - is I'm just not comfortable with a stepbrother and stepsister getting involved romantically.

AMEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWERS
This read like a first attempt at a novel. What a waste of my time and money. Don't be tempted to buy this one. It is so bad.

Why buy now that the same information is available for free?
In TradeStation (I use 6), Under the Help menu, there is a Books menu item. Selecting it and you will have access to very good EasyLanguage for free (in pdf form). There is really no need to buy a book that's now outdated, and not very well-written.

High Priced EasyLanguage Overview
I have to agree with the other review from Chicago posted on Jan. 13th. Not a lot of "meat" in this one. I can't say as I would recommend this book to anyone. An EasyLanguage beginner would be more confused after reading it than before. No significant info for someone who is already experienced with EL code writing. It's not very structured/organized in it's attempt to enlighten readers. Buy it as a reference manual... for that it would recieve 3 and a half stars.

Out of date, but has a unique perspective
As of this writing, TradeStation is up to version 6. Version 7 is on the horizon. Ask Mr. EasyLanguage is largely based on Version 4, making only editorial insert comments about Version 5 (TS 2000i). With this in mind, the code contained in the book is probably not going to run without significant modification. Several of the key issues raised by the book, notably 'IncludeSystem' and the 64k code limit, are no longer of interest. IncludeSystem is no longer a key word. The 64k code limit has been erased.

All this in mind, I still found the book a useful resource. It represents a glimpse into the 'Easylanguage' mindset. I really couldn't point to any one phrase or topic which was individually enlightening, but from time to time, there was a moment of 'Oh, I see what those EasyLanguage programmers were doing!'

I don't think you can get that anywhere else. Admittedly, this is a rather esoteric justification for reading a book.

If you are expecting to find advanced solutions, this book will disappoint. It doesn't offer anything in terms of trading systems. The book is a technical guide to EasyLanguage, avoiding almost anything related to trading.

Awful, Awful, Awful
This book is impossible to follow without a flow-chart, often silly, and just plain sloppy. Higham seems to think drinking a Mint Julep is the one way to identify a 19th Southerner Southerner! He's also sloppy, mixing up the year of Lincoln's assassination several times, (sometimes it's 1864, sometimes he has it right as 1865). Worstly, this book reads more like a list of coincidental meetings of 19th century cranks. Who cares who met who at some hotel in 1864? Higham has no real new information and he really should be ashamed to have written this thing. This is definitely the worst book I have ever purchased online!

Many detours
Too many detours og not enough murder case. The story is very disorganized with many unnecessary facts that only blurs the theory.

The World's Best Dirty Jokes

Certainly not the worlds best
First of all, I would like to say, this book made me want to vomit. But I was reading a dirty joke book. So does that matter? No. This collection is vulgar, cruel...on and on. Putting all that aside, this book wasn't funny. I've heard jokes that made me laugh for hours. I did not laugh once while reading this book. So, in my opinion, it failed. You be the judge.

Doesn't live up to it's name
There are just too many great jokes out there and most of them didn't find their way to these pages. While some jokes are subjective, there are some that just plain split your sides and I didn't find myself laughing hard all the way through this rather small collection. Plus times change. Many on these pages are relatively tame compared to some of the really dirty humor around today. Not really worth the price but worth reading in the dentist's office instead of old National Geographics or Reader's Digest.

Areopagitica: A Speech of Mr. John Milton for the Liberty of Unlicensed Printing, to the Parliament of England, London , Printed in the Year 1644

Avoid Censored Version by Bandana Books
Let the buyer beware! I should have recalled this adage and examined my purchase more carefully.

I am now the owner of writings by the new John Milton, a politically correct John Milton, a John Milton that rejects manhood for adulthood and rejects man for person. This new Milton embraces the humanist pronouns hu and hus and hum, non-sexist third person pronouns. He, his and him and she, her and hers are no more.

Milton's quotation of Euripides is likewise changed. Euripides now says' "And hu who can and will, deserves high praise". Euripides stands corrected.

Milton's use of archaic English has also been modernized. Milton has cast aside much of his seventeenth century English. This Bandanna Books version of John Milton is no longer John Milton, but an altered, censored revision.

Ironically, in the essay Areopagitica John Milton is arguing to the Parliament of England for freedom of the press, specifically for the liberty of unlicensed printing. Would John Milton have approved this modern, secular, nonsexist version of his essay?

Milton would have agreed that Bandanna Books had a right to publish, but I suspect that he would have argued that that Bandanna Books had a moral obligation to label the book cover to indicate that Milton's essay had been significantly altered to fit a peculiar nonsexist standard.

Bandanna Books in Santa Barbara, California offers other humanist works including Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, Plato's Apology and Crito, and commentaries by Confucius. Unless you find comfort in hu, hus, and hum, I suggest that the traditional Whitman, Plato, and Confucius might be adequate and that you look elsewhere. Let the buyer beware!

Fallen from the stars with Lucifer
"Hu", "hus", "hum"? Ho hum.

John Leonar

This is a modified edition of Milton's original; beware!
Prospective buyers of this edition should be aware that it is edited; some of Milton's words have been changed, either to modernize or to "humanize" (that is, eliminate sexist usages by the replacement of he/she, him/her, etc. with bizarre "hu", "hum," etc. This is not a worthy edition of Milton's great text!

Falling for Mr. Wrong

Author: Caroline Upcher

Used price: $3.75

I Certainly Expected More . . .
I came away with absolutely nothing after completing Falling For Mr. Wrong.

None of the characters throughout the entire storyline had any depth whatsoever; I couldn't connect with any of them. I thought Polly would have at least kept the backbone she "sort of" acquired after Johnny walked out but I guess some of us are willing victims to our own pain and suffering. These characters certainly deserve each other. Luana's pet name "Polly Pushover" certainly hit the nail on the head.

Readers don't waste your time on this novel - you'll just end up frustrated and bemused.

Paltry chick-lit imitation
I picked up this book in the anticipation that it would be another light reading, another happy little Red-Dress-Inkish book to vacation from reality in. Instead, Falling for Mr. Wrong turned out to be a book with characters so negative I couldn't even finish it. I had a hard time deciding who I hated more - Polly's rude snob of a best friend, her self-absorbed husband, or shallow possible love interest Hector. Even Polly herself was kind of pathetic and not inspiring identification from the reader, just pity. If you picked up the book too because it was pink and looked like a fun quick read, put it back and find a Marilyn Keyes or an RDI. You'll find your afternoon was not wasted as mine was.

Not A Lot To Rave About
"Falling For Mr. Wrong" by Caroline Upcher is just another in a long line of female scorned - "ohhh my life is [bad]" --- "I wish I could find a man to make me happy" fiction that is taking over the country. Now - don't get me wrong -- I love "chick lit" (as it has become commonly known) but this didn't even live up to the "chick" part - much less the "lit" part.

I found the main character and chief complainer Polly de Soto completely annoying and I will confess that I gave up at about chapter 18. I decided I had much better things to do with my time (consider that I recently got laid off from my job - so my time if pretty clear - doesn't that tell you something?) It's really not worth your time or money. There are many more interesting, romantic and telling stories out there. Check those out - there are many of us out there that have reviewed them. :) Cheers!

HI BELONGS IN THE WASTE BASKET!
I don't like Hi & Lois. If "Hi" is Mr. Popularity, then I'm Liz Taylor! Hi is a bumbling, inept drone and has the appeal of malaria. He is a boorish Neanderthal with no class. Dot is a fresh brat and poor Ditto is her long suffering twin brother. Trixie and Chip are the only kids with anything to offer. Trixie is a cute, bright baby and Chip is sorta like his Uncle, Beetle Bailey. Lois is the only "adult" in that household and the next door neighbors are a boorish pair. She's a harpy and he's a lazy no-account. What a crew.

I love Beetle Bailey, but I just don't like "Hi & Lois."

I'll take Sarge and the bunch at Camp Swampy any day!

Mr. Popularity? Humph.
If Hi is Mr. Popularity, then I am Ms. America. First, he beats Lois every time she forgets to bring him his slippers. Not very popular to me! THEN, he performs bizarre gratification rituals with thinly sliced sandwich meats. THAT is no popular thing to do in my house! Finally, the way he secretly envies Chip's carefree existence yet makes a point of humiliating Chip and forcing him into petticoats as punishment was a bit too much. Hi, you aren't popular in my book! Take some lessons from that nice Bil Keane and get a wholesome family act going.

Pure Liberal Lies And Hatred
This is a hate-filled book written by a closed-minded liberal who has only one goal, which is to attack, attack, attack.... It's the same thing we've seen numerous times, which is: If you have no message of your own, make personal attacks on your opponents. It's Carvillian in that it makes no attempt whatsoever to be engaging on the issues, instead spending it's time spewing the author's personal hatred of our current President.

Save your money, I read it, and I my time would have been better spent hitting my head against a wall repeatedly. Pure garbage.

Mr. Dan Culton
I didn't buy this book and thank goodness I didn't. It has no redeeming value whatsoever. It is not thought provoking, informative, or entertaining. Don't waste your time and money on this turkey. It's not even worth the current price of eithty-eight cents.
