A Great Read for Anyone, Full of Rib-splitting Humor
TYMEW is by far the most interesting book I have ever read. The author has a wit that can't be matched by many people. With two tables of content and a quiz on the book at the end, TYMEW is very unusual and makes for great reading. Just the names of the chapters are worth the cost of the book alone. The things that happened to him in his cycling adventures are amazing and he brings them to life in such a vivid way that I felt as if I were out there cycling with him. The book is funny beyond description, yet compassionate enough that parts of it will get to you. This is a must read for anyone who wants to be "entertained." I never thought I'd read a book 4 times - I can't put it down! Bravo, I say!

What Does Mr. Greenspan Really Think?: Alan Greenspan's Speech at the Catholic University Leuven, Leuven, Belgium January 14, 1997

Will the real Mr. Greenspan please stand up
Having read this superb book, nothing Mr. Greenspan says will ever be the same. Clearly, he is a very conflicted person. One cannot help but conclude that our savings and our pensions are in mortal danger. How come this book has not come to the attention of our elected representatives? This is much more important than the Enron fraud. Anyone who is concerned about having adequate funds for retirement should read this book very carefully.

Who Was That Man?: A Present for Mr. Oscar Wilde (The Masks Series)

Since the 1960s, when his work gained a new recognition in the literary canon, biographies of Oscar Wilde and critical analysis of his work have become commonplace. While this writing acknowledged the "fact" of Wilde's homosexuality, it did not, for the most part, explore the complexity of the impact it had upon his life and work. This is remedied in Neil Bartlett's Who Was That Man?, which squarely places Wilde in a gay historical context and literary tradition.

Neil Bartlett--an openly gay British novelist, critic and leading innovator on the British stage--has produced the one of the most remarkable books ever written on Wilde. Who Was That Man? is a personal meditation on Wilde's work and the relevance of the artist and playwright in the contemporary world. Bartlett uses his own experience as a gay man to understand Wilde's life and manages--through extensive historical research and evocative language--to make observations and connections and illuminate our understanding of the writer and his place in his own world and ours.

The Wilde Side
A gay Londoner of the 80s goes searching for his roots and finds Oscar Wilde, a complex figure early on in the history of the cultural and social construction of twentieth-century homosexuality. If you're interested in Wilde, this is a very good book to read along with Richard Ellman's more standard biography.

The Islands of Unwisdom--The Master at Zenith
This review concerns only the Islands of Unwisdom, yet another brilliant foray into history by the master (although I understand that the Wife of Mr. Milton is very good, too). The Islands of Unwisdom is set in the late 16th century (1595 or thereabouts) and concerns the second disasterous voyage by the Spaniards to the Islands of Solomon as recorded by the expedition's secretary and comic foil. The book has a very strong female lead who is quite complex (as are the other major characters--about 20 in all). Mr. Graves' sensibilities are so in tune with modern life, it is hard to understand how books like this sink without a trace. This book is the most damning indictment of colonialism I have ever read. It is also based on fact as recorded by the actual expedition's secretary (apparently, this document has yet to be translated in English).

I love Frank Peretti's books and decided to take a chance with this CD collection. "It is terrific!" It is done for kids but believe me adults will love it also. Be ready to laugh yourself silly. I think that it deserves more than 5 stars!

A True Story
Why didn't I read this book when it first came out? It is a very well written book from a true "insider" at Taliesin. Besinger does what he says and tells it like it was, from his personal experience. It gives a wonderful look inside the forbidden city, one that is often enhanced and usually turns out to be a lauditory biography of Mr. Wright. Here is a real narrative in the best sense of the word. Besinger does not interpret he just tells what he knows and also does not speculate on what he does not see. It is the best insight to date on the evolving process that went on in Taliesin. Besinger worked on most of the important projects and gives us the process as well as the result. I am very glad he took the time to write so well and include the detail that carries it through. One only wishes for more.

Teachers: excellent for a worm unit!
This book portrays the typical reactions of students who will be studying worms. It is comical for the children to whom it may be read as well as to the adult reading it. It is an excellent read aloud. It is also a great book to share with your child whether he/she reads it alone or you read it together!

A must-have for any little fantasy fan.
Mr Meddle and Mr Pink-Whistle kept me reading late into the night, too many nights to count. Reading their adventures still tastes of childhood and hot chocolate to me. And now, they're enchanting my children. Any child who doesn't get to meet Enid Blyton's lovable, not-so-perfect characters has missed something vital, in my opinion.
