Exciting
Mr. Slow is the story about a slow man. A very slow man. It takes him all day to eat a cake, as he puts it in his mouth a crumb at a time. Being slow has its problems. How will he find a job? He tries to sell lemonade but by the time he has finished making it, it is too cold. He tries to sell scarves, but by the time he is ready he is too warm. What will he do? Read the book and find out! Like many of the other books in this series, this book shows how a person can overcome a very troubling problem.

Recommended for students of Georian politics and history.
Mr. Speaker: The Biography Of Tom Murphy is the story of the man who was Speaker of the House longer than anyone in Georgia's political history. Murphy was powerful, controversial, enigmatic, effective, influential, and a consummate politician complete with a front-page image and political bravado. Georgia Journalist Richard Hyatt has applied all of his investigative and research skills to provide the reader with an engaging, informative, and insightful portrait of a legislator who was intimately involved in the political affairs of his state for decades. Mr. Speaker is highly recommended reading for students of political science and Georgia history.

a modern day Horatio Alger
Well, as much as the tube socks helped, I must say I wasn't really at the top of my game. I guess you could say I was like one of those fancy new houses you see - all spiffy on the outside but not much on the inside! Well, things have changed. This book was like a moving van and Mr. T provided the furniture to fill up my house with a can-do spirit!

I knew I needed something to connect with the ladies at an intellectual level, not just a physical level. That's where Mr. T comes in - what can I say, the man is truly a motivator!!! Mr. T details his rise from poverty to overcome all odds and become America's favorite tough guy.

One of my snooty bookish friends said I should read the Autobiography of Malcolm X instead, but I say "no way, Mr. T is the original." Besides, you can tell that this guy is blatantly ripping off Mr. T's style by putting a letter as his last name, I mean give me a break Malcolm, can you try to be a little more original please?

But enough about the imitators, if you want to improve your attitude and be inspired, read this book. If you don't - I PITY THE FOOL!!! (this is a line Mr. T uses alot).

See Ya,

Da Pete-ster

Excellent art, delightful story!
This is a fine vintage children's story. Marie Hall Ets was a wonderful, imaginative illustrator as well as a fine writer. This story of a dog, a cat, a mouse, and how they saved their home - and their shoemaker - from his bossy sister is a delight for both children and their parents (and grandparents!). I wish it would be re-printed; but in lieu of that, I recommend that you grab it whenever you run across it second-hand!

When grouchy school administrator Mr. Apple tells Lynnhurst Elementary's beloved principal Mr. Tanen to get serious about teaching and stop wearing those crazy ties, not only is Mr. Tanen crestfallen, but the whole school gets the blues. Now how will the students know what kind of day it is? Mr. Tanen's famous ties made every day a holiday. On rainy days, he wore a tie with umbrellas on it, and when it was someone's birthday, he sported one that played "Happy Birthday." And the one he wore on Frankfurter Friday, well, you can imagine what that tie was like.

School becomes even less fun when a discouraged Mr. Tanen calls in sick and Mr. Apple, wearing a rather uninspiring blue tie, arrives to substitute. Not willing to let school become so boring, one clever student conspires to give Mr. Apple, a passionate bird watcher, a tie with bright red cardinals on it. ("'Thank you... But that's not quite my style,' says Mr. Apple." Or is it?) Mr. Apple just can't resist wearing his gorgeous new tie to the supermarket where his dandy appearance charms a certain pretty lady. Before you know it, romance blooms, and a happy Mr. Tanen is returned to his grateful students. Visually delightful, each page of this boldly illustrated book is bordered by a brilliant flow of wacky tie designs. Better yet, it's just the kind of tale about getting the best of adults that kids relish. Anybody got a wedding-bell tie? (Ages 5 and older) --Marianne Painter

A fun, enjoyable story with beautiful illustrations
I loved this book and so did my kids. The colors and pictues are very inviting to children of all ages. Mr. Tanen is a very likable character and his story is funny and thought provoking. The story teaches a subtle lesson of tolerance while entertaining simultaniously. My 10 year old loved it as well as my 3 & 4 year olds, and so did I.

Tequila Mustard a must read
This book was a unique piece of fiction to read. I frequently chuckled. The acronyms are a thing of beauty. There is philosophy, metaphor and a downright penetrating view of human beings, their foibles and their strengths. The characters including Mr. Tequila are a real trip.
If you have an open mind for new forms of creative writing you should pick this book up to read.

Story of one Jewish man's preparation for concentration camp
This is the story of Mr. Mundstock and his attempt to come to grips with the inevitable summons for the concentration camps during the Nazi occupation of Prague. While many Jewish families and individuals around hime cope in manners such as nervous breakdowns, denial, and even suicide, Mr. Mundstock attempts to mentally and physically prepare himself by turning his lonely apartment into a mini concentration camp barracks. The preparation takes the reader through Mundstock's mind's misperceptions, denial, and fear while the novel's other characters see Mr. Mundstock as a fearless man in his later years who is more prepared than anyone else for the nightmare they are all going to face. This is a worthwhile read, especially if you're interested in WWII or Slavic culture, and at just over 200 pages, it's a quick read. The novel has a pscychological bent, much like fellow Czech author Franz Kafka. This was written during the last few years of the author's 70+ year life

Unique way to examine the Civil War
Mr. Tubbs' Civil War discusses the war through the letters received by a Charles Tubbs by his friends. Mr Tubbs never went to battle, but learned about the great battles of that war through the letters he received. The letters are ungrammatical, often crudely written. But they give you a great perspective on the civil war. I enjoyed it
