The situation is all too familiar -- two next door neighbors just don't get along and go out of their way to make life difficult. The man (the bowtie-wearing Mr. Persnickety) doesn't like cats and his neighbor (the Cat Lady)has a houseful of them. One day, the man's house is invaded by mice. He tries traps, but the mice are too smart. Finally, the man swallows his pride and asks the Cat Lady if he can borrow the cats. The cats go next door and do what cats do best. When the Cat Lady rounds up her cats to take them home, the man thanks her and introduces himself (he's not really Mr. Persnickety). She, in turn, tells him her name (it's not really the Cat Lady). The two then become real neighbors. Author/illustrator Paul Brett Johnson has put together a picture book that makes you laugh while it teaches a lesson in acceptance.

I am in the third grade and chose this book because it was recommended by another kid in my class. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to people who like penguins and adventure. I liked how the penguins messed up every show and two of the penguins fought a lot. It is one of my favorite books because it is funny and easy to read because it is so enjoyable. It is a great book and I would recommend it to you!

I remembered reading this book a long time ago when I was a child. After going through some of my things at my mother's house I came across my copy, which had barely survived several siblings, and I enjoyed the story once again.

The illustrations paint the narrative exquisitely, giving vibrant color to a delightful story.

Mr. Potato Head across America is a wonderfully visual book dealing with the sights "across America." I loved it.

The basic premises of the book is Mr. Potato Head is going to his family reunion in Burlap, Idaho. He is from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, so he has to travel across the country. While traveling, he decides to catch the sights.

What I really liked about the book was how crisp and clear the photographs were. There are some really great shots of Mount Rushmore, The White House and Old Faithful at the Yellowstone National Park. Having Mr. Potato Head in each one of the pictures adds to the enjoyment of the book.

I enjoyed seeing the pullout of Mr. Potato Head's family reunion in Burlap, Idaho. I didn't realize that he had such a big family.

I didn't expect this book to keep me amused from beginning to end. This book was a great adventure for Mr. Potato Head.

One thing that was definitely educational about this book was the fact that there is a map of the United States at the back of it. They mix up four of the states so that the reader has to find them.

Since I'm always looking for children's books for my nephews, I think that they will really enjoy this book. I didn't think that I would like it as much as I did, but Mr. Potato Head is just cool.

When old Lady Prune invites Mr. Potato Head over for dinner, she decides to send him to the store for the groceries. When he loses the list, he decides to rely on his memory for the purchases. Hilarity follows when Mr. Potato Head's memory fails him miserably.

My 7 year-old son loved the colorful pictures in this book, and laughed his way through the story. I have no idea if this story has a moral (if so, it slipped past me), but it is a very entertaining book for children. I always like books that my son wants to reread, and this is one of them.

What happens when worlds collide? Does the end justify the means? Is deceit acceptable when its practice is for a larger good?
Dale Soderberg's Mr. Protestant wrestles with these questions. Its hero Rod Latimer, president of the national church, faces the very real possibility of his power and authority coming undone due to an election challenge from a beloved seminary professor who feels Latimer's focus on the world scene is causing his neglect of national matters. When a pastor's suicide occurs as the result of unfounded sexual allegations, serious damage to the church is threatened, and unwanted attention from the press, already feasting on televangelist scandal, may be drawn. Worlds begin to unravel.
Latimer resolves to hold on to his authority regardless of the cost to friends, colleagues and family, and we watch his decent into actions which are dubious at best....all in the name of serving God, feeding the hungry, and commanding attention to the world's most disturbing trouble spots. One wonders if Latimer inevitably becomes the very "serpent" he seeks to slay. Or does he "practice kindness, justice and righteousness in the earth"?
Mr. Soderberg has a very fine novel on his hands. Fast-paced and nicely written, his novel gives us a glimpse into a world of church politics that has all the pitfalls of the secular world. Latimer's dilemma is compelling, and he weaves his way through the knotty issues of his presidency and reelection rationally. When backed into a corner, as he inevitably is, however, he becomes frighteningly chilling.
A good read that's well worth your time.

Cynthia Rylant and Arthur Howard have created a winning combination in the Mr. Putter and his cat Tabby along with their quirky neighbors, Ms. Teaberry and her good dog Zeke. This latest offering in the series is laugh out loud funny. Mr. Putter and Tabby try to make soup while they are continually pestered by Zeke in his desire for a little attention. Yes, it is a simple story but it's timing is great and the illustrations as always are great. My four year old daughter loves this book and it leaves her in tears of laughter.

This is about the 6th book we bought in the series and they have all been great. It is nice to see stories that involve older people and have such winning story lines. I cannot recommend these books strongly enough. With the holiday season still in mind, check out Mr Putter and Tabby Bake the Cake - A great Christmas book

As an elementary school math specialist I have seen and used many resources, but it's been a long time since me and my students have had this much fun learning about math. Written by a teacher for students, teachers, and parents, I highly recommend Mr. R.'s math poems for anyone who works or lives with elementary age children.

If you are SERIOUS about finding a decent guy----without pulling any
tricks----this 6 Week Plan actually WORKS. I am now seeing two guys (and clicking like mad with one of them.) I am not claiming I followed it step by step----I just followed the beauty advice in Week Two and and then went right to Week Four) But this is the most fun I've had in years! And it is all thanks to this book (which I only bought it because I saw the two women on CBS EARLY SHOW following the plan and getting lots of guys.) Try it. What have you got to lose?
