Great Book and Toy In One!
This sturdy, tough book is also a car! Velco keeps the book closed and enables kids to roll it around like a car. It teaches children about car washes...all the while Mr. Frumble undergoes many misadventures (including losing his hat, as usual!) Any child who loves The Busy World of Richard Scarry on Nick, Jr. will love this book.

Mr Glencannon Ignores the War

Must be read by all who appreciate "Glencannon".
This presents what has been described to me by those who have been there as an accurate portrait of the South Pacific area during WWII. Though far from politically correct (thank God something is!), the reader will still find himself cheering on the usual crew of the "Inchcliffe Castle" as they manage to do battle with the Japanese. A great book in the "Glencannon" series.

British Dazzler
This paperback was a random gift - and was an astonishing delight. This is a well executed novel of macabre and even gruesome subject; but it pulls one in with its invention, insight, and sympathy of its characters. There is extensive philosophical inquiry - and a new villain (the tattoed man) who stands out among media stereotypes. Cross reminds me of some aspects of Patricia Highsmiths best work (Ripley Under Water)in that nightmarish quality come true to life but the logic and construction in Mr. In Between is even more compelling...and this work stands on its own as an original work.

If you have any taste for futuristic crime fiction with heatlhy doses of social realism (including blunt descriptions of violence and drug use) and imaginitive writing.....seek out this book as it is a jewel

delightful!
The Mr. Men series was always a favorite of mine when I was growing up, and now looking back on these delightful books, I find myself sad that I've misplaced them over the years.

These wonderfully simple books are perfect, filled with valuable lessons! I highly recommend them.

A Must for Lawrence Fans!
Although this book is unfinished by the author, it will not disappoint! This novel should be viewed for its lyrical merit rather than its story line. "For a little man who suddenly imagines life to be something and the Word a mere bauble in the hands of buffoons like himself. Finds himself strangely anxious, books showering down on his head like the ruins of Carthage, while all the time he wants life, life, whatever life may be. Finds himself anxious-to be with young people, to share their existence, their youth"...."Mr.Noon" The story follows Gilbert Noon, a young schoolteacher that has a torid affair with a fellow schoolteacher named Emme. After her father catches them in the "act", Gilbert flees the small town to start life anew. Vowing to pursue his doctorate in Germany and to put away silly romantic endeavors. After escaping to Germany, his real trouble begins, he meets Johanna, a smoldering mature German woman with much experience in the ways of life and love. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you enjoy another one of Lawrence's treasures as well!

Mr Norris Changes Trains

Alan Cumming has SUCH passion for Isherwood!
I have a bunch of audio books narrated by Alan Cumming, and I have to say that Mr. Norris Changes Trains and Goodbye To Berlin are the two best I ever heard. Maybe it's because that Alan was the Emcee in the musical Cabaret, for which these two books lent inspiration to. But for whatever reason, Alan brings you into the magical world of divine decadence in pre-war Berlin with Arthur Norris, the ideal of an enigma; Fraulein Schroeder, the chatty, light and amusing landlady; Otto and Anni, the next generation of Germans; and of course the narrator Chris. Alan knows what he's reading and because of his divine comprehension, he makes the recording sound so much more fun and enjoyable to listen to!

Naked, raw emotion from one of the true greats
I'd say this was my favourite of all the Unplugged series, probably even surpassing the late Nirvana for pure, raw, naked emotion. Mr Potato Head was always a troubled artist, and at times, his heart-rending vocals give a terrible insight into what was to come, following this, one of his final public recordings. The passion with which he sings "Bake Me" is purely breathtaking, as is the rousing "Twas on the good Chip Venus". The only low point of this collection would be the truly awful "Starch Trekking (across the universe)" - and I doubt many would argue against me.

Mr Pottermack's Oversight
Published in Paperback by House of Stratus Inc. (01 January, 2001)
Authors: R. Austin Freeman and R Austin Freeman

Who done it? Will he get away with it?
Richard Austin Freeman introduced the world to the "inverted detective story." From the beginning, the reader knows "who done it," and the fun is finding out whether the perpetrator will be caught.

In this novel, the sympathetic, engaging and enterprising Mr. Pottermack commits the perfect crime, only to discover that a perfect crime is the last thing in the world he wants. Then Mr. Pottermack comes up against the legendary Dr. John Thorndyke, physician and lawyer, the dean of scientific detection, who seems to know far too much about what Mr. Pottermack did on a night when there was nobody around to see him. Will Dr. Thorndyke celebrate another triumph? Or will Mr. Pottermack avoid detection and finally find happiness? It's worth the read to find out!

This Man Can Write.
Mr. Romance is a book about vanity or the ways we devise to deceive ourselves. It's about family because the family is a closed society with its own rules --a hall of mirrors to the world.
Gibson writes tragedy. All of his books are tragedy dressed as farce--the struggle to make sense of a nonsensical world.
