Mr Christian; the journal of Fletcher Christian, former Lieutenant of His Majesty's Armed Vessel 'Bounty.'

Excellent and eye-opening
This book sees the happenings on the ship through the eyes of Fletcher Christian. It even suggests a homosexual relationship was indeed occuring between he and Captain Bligh. I loved seeing the mutiny through his eyes instead of through Bligh's or a fictional midshipman, and it was so good I read it all in an entire night. This is a must-read for every single Bountyphile out there! I believed wholeheartedly that the book hits Fletcher Christian's true character dead on, and several times I could hardly believe he hadn't written it. A very, very, intriguing book, and it's worth trying to find. You'll never see the mutiny more justified than how it is portrayed by Mr. Miller.

A Poet for the Twenty-First Century
I reread "Mr. Cogito" recently, and I realized that, as all good poetry, it has not aged. Mr. Cogito is an Everyman, and he offers companionship to readers regardless of their location in time and geography. His self-restraint is an admirable and comforting response to the bewildering abundance of contemporary culture, and his modesty and penchant for contemplation reassure us that "looking out for number one" is not the most important thing in life. Truly a timeless book of poetry.

Mr Cool really is Cool!
Fantastic tale of friendship ideal for a young child and pre-schooler to understand. Just the right length and wonderful pictures. The book is a perfect choice when your child begins to gain his own identity and sense of status. This is a firm family favourite and my children ask for it to be read again and again.

This book was hillarious!
At first, I was doubtful. After all, how funny could
a columnist from 1900 be?

I was wrong! This book had social and personal
commentary that goes for today.
My favorites were the marriage articles
.

A GOOD ONE
My 2 year old loves Richard Scarry and she loves books! Although this book is a little more complicated than most books for her age she already has the book memorized. She follows the story quite well and loves Mr Fix it. I find the book to be very inexpensive especially for all of the fun we have had reading it and introducing her to new words.

The Love Laws
Gay? Or not gay? Let the reader decide. This very short novel about a Victorian-headed missionary who loses his head in the South Seas is a love story. The lover is the British man, the missionary, who gradually loses his balance. This is almost a spoof of "going native," because in this case, the natives are far more sensible and "civilized" than the missionary. The beloved is a native boy who is clueless of Mr. Fortune's torments, the guilts, and anguish. Forget about looking for "the good parts," if by that you mean the parts where they get it on. That never happens. What does happen is love. Mr. Fortune, against his will, loves Lueli, a young man who loves everything around him as easily as breathing and has no concept of shame. The novel invites us to think about guilt itself, about sexuality in any form, and about love. As Arundhati Roy wrote sixty years later, it is a novel about "the laws that lay down who should be loved and how. And how much." Like all of Townsend-Warner's novels, this one reminds the reader of impermanence. "For no reason he could see he had suddenly become immensely popular. And as he walked to and fro in the twilight waiting for his guests to take themselves off he heard his name being bandied about in tones of the liveliest affection and approval. He had one consolation: by the morrow he would be out of fashion again. As for Lueli, they scarcely mentioned him. If he had drowned they would have spent the evening wailing and lamenting: not for him but for themselves, at the reminder of their own mortality, after the natural way of mourning."

THIS IS A GREAT BOOK FOR KIDS WHO ARE JUST STARTING TO GET
PAST THE "FIRST READER BOOKS" The print is a little smaller but the vast majority of the book is pictures. Really a fun book to read with your child or for them to read alone. It's not intimidating to read for kids that are on there way past picture books but not ready for "mostly word" pages.
