A very funny book with a nice moral
We bought this for our kids in the 70s and read it to them over and over again. The story is cute and children love it, but for adults, the drawings are an absolute hoot!!. Well worth the investment.

Giraffe and the Mouse are darling
This is the cutest book i have seen in awhile. It really gives a great understanding of how two totally different animals or people can become freinds and have respect for the other. My favorite part of the book is when the mouse and the giraffe say to the other Your not so bad after all and it is a really cute book to not only give to your kids but also as a gift for anyone else.

WWMMTDD?
When your down and troubled and you need a helping hand and nothing, whoa nothing, is going right. Close your eyes and think of Mr. T and soon he will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights. You just call out T's name and you know where ever T is, he'll come running to see you again. Winter, spring, summer or fall, all you have to do is call and he'll be there. You've got a Mr. T Doll. Hey, ain't it good to know you've got a Mr. T Doll?

When I was a child, my grandpappy sat me down on his lap and told me "Sonny boy, I certainly do pity the fool that don't respect Mr. T. He gives folks guidance, teaches them how to live right, and lays down major butt whoopins on fools that don't know the power of T!" Grandpappy was an alcoholic that had an unusual even unhealthy liking for Mr. T, and this was unquestionably during one of his drunken "fool pitying" sessions, but these truths stuck with me far longer than T's glorious run through such classic movies as "D.C. Cab" and "Penetentiary 2." When Grandpappy passed away, he left me his "Rocky III" DVD, his Mr. T Doll, and a gold chain with a "WWMMTDD?" emblem hanging from it. This of course stands for "What Would My Mr. T Doll Do?" and is a living reminder to me to seek the truth of T when I'm in times of trouble and my Mr. T Doll has been inadvertently left at the office, at the gym, or somewhere else where I can't access it's omnipotent powers.

This book is another living and breathing example of the power of Mr. T and I pity the fools that can't bring T into their lives and live by the "WWMMTDD?" creed. It ain't about the gold and the mohawk, fool! It's about living right. If you ain't living like Mr. T or finding strength through Mr. T dolls or books, then you one fool that ain't never gonna learn, and for this I have no choice but to put you on my all-time pity list.

A touching tale of God, and the power of belief
True, in reviewing this book after it is out of print places me a little behind in the times (although I'm the first to admit that) - but the themes presented in this charming story are truly timeless. The pain of loss and childhood in general are portrayed by the author with an intrinsic understanding of the human condition - using consice language that conyeys it's point while remaining easy for even the most simple-minded of us to comprehend. The painstakingly detailed pen and ink (with a wonderfully suble coloring scheme) illustrations pefectly complement the story's gentle lesson. Speaking of gentle, that brings me to the appearance of famed television celebrity "Mr. T" to the story. In a refreshing change of pace from his rough-and tumble roles from stage and screen, he appears to give guidance and lend his strength to those who truly need it most. A highly recommended read for hungry minds of all ages!

Old Man & Mr Smith

Droll Stuff
In this amusing fable, God and the Devil have taken mortal forms to meet and walk the earth in examination of their handiwork. Naturally, there are a number of stumbling blocks. One, when they first need to pay for something, God pulls random currency from his pocket. This quickly gets the duo in trouble with the FBI, who chase them for the remainder of the trip. Two, no one believes them when they tell them who they really are (hardly surprising). Starting in the US, the bickering twosome end up hitting a number of contents and capitols before their time runs out. Ustinov uses this conceit to make loads of wry observations on humanity, as well specific cultural and political types. There are lots of deep thoughts stirred into this romp, and although a bit hammy, it is worth a read. It definitely makes me want to read some other of Ustinov's fiction, as he has a nimble way with his prose.

excelent, a must read for any cynic
Peter Ustinov unleashes a stuning aray of irony and logic, as he tracks "the old man" and "Mr. Smith" through thier less than triumphant return to earth. One of the most thought provoking books I've read since Desolation Angles.

Great Book!
With great illustrations, my 3 years old son can read out the story even without knowing the words. The story is about a rabbit that was struck in the street with cement. The animals in busy town tried to find ways to get the rabbit out, including using big fan, dump truck, stick, and finally power shovel to scoop him up. It is amazing that just with the simple questions, like "Can we blow him out?" can arouse the interest of the little reader to read the book. This is one of favourite bedtime stories for my son. It is really a great book. I highly recommend this book for toddlers.

THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, THIS BOOK IS FUN!
Like other richard scarry books this one has the usual FUN cast of characters....The pictures are charming and the words are not imtimidating. It would be easy to follow and predict the words because the pictures are so discriptive. This was a great early reader book.:)

it's all about me
This book is about my life. I've broken every rule in this book. Just ask my wife. Luckily she likes me anyway. She bought me the book as a present and it's definitely my story.
Like the book says, get ready to apologize even if you haven't done anything (first rule.)

If only I had known
If only I'd known these rules, I wouldn't have spent as much of the last 12 years in the dog house. Oh yeah, it's supposed to be funny and they are pretty funny but if we (men) paid attention, we'd be way ahead! My wife bought it for me as a joke and we both laughed. But even she said, "it's all true!" The writer has been spying on my life. I'm getting my wife the book of Wife Rules.

'Sir Galahad, Mr.Longfellow, and Me' is a great book. The recomended age is 9-12, but I think all ages would enjoy it. It is a exciting story that takes place tne 1930s.

This was an excellent book dealing with kids and poetry

A "must have" for bedtime reading.
This book is wonderful entertainment for kids. A great book for Sunday night family reading time. Parents and children will be laughing out loud!

Holly Howell Decatur GA

Five good reasons to read
Five good reasons to read this small treasure (which is listed for children but will appeal more to adults with a love of southern literature and folklore): 1)The language of the rural south; 2) What happens when Mr. Fat gets paid with a can of blue paint instead of money; 2) The story about the suicidal mule and the streamliner train (carrying the Lt. Governor and a Newspaper Man); 3) A bona-fide "hambone" (Hamboning was the ancestor of rap) performed by the storyteller, Ma Minnie; (4) When Miss Marie's Mama comes to take her home from the tent show; (5) Mr. Fat's opinion of the King of England. You could buy it for a child's Christmas gift, but if you read it, you'll probably want to keep it yourself. A few 'dams' and one "ass-over-whangdoodle." Not always politically correct, but as authentic as the red clay along the banks of the Flint River.
