Mr Majestic, an unashamed Superhero...
I loved this book.

No, it isn't Alan Moore's Supreme, but it is a Super-Hero book in the way that, sadly, Superman is not...

If that makes sense.

It's a Super-Hero book about a character that's actually NOT afraid of being one. You know, a guy who actually enjoys being able to change the course of mighty rivers and bending steel in his bare hands.

In other words Casey and McGuinness give us a SMART, CONFIDENT, SECURE Superman... er Mr. Majestic.

There isn't much time spent on alter-egos or supporting casts & there's no Peter Parker angst to this character. That's not to say there isn't any pathos, but for the most part Mr. Majestic is just straight forward heroics in a proactive, positive and unrestricted way that Superman can only now dream of.

I highly recommend this book to fans of the Superhero genre and of a time that has sadly passed by...

Unbelievable!!!!!!
To start this if you like Superman and Supreme then you should be right at home with Mr. Majestic. This guy has it all enough strength to rearrange a solar system move and destroy planets using either his physical strength or his other powers. Majestic maybe the most powerful Superman copycat to date. The story is good art is also pretty good. Majestic takes Superman to new levels in everyway possible. Read it for yourself you will see what I am talking about.

A Great Read for horselovers!
Anything I read written by Carolyn McSparren is most enjoyable. She writes strong female characters with backbone and brains and hero who are just that: heroic. A great read, even more so for horselovers!

Enjoyable ranch romance
Jamey McLachlan is pretty certain that the horse sold in Belgium and now residing in Tennessee is the same stallion stolen from his deceased stepfather's ranch. Jamey swore to Jock's memory that Roman would be siring a new breed of Scottish sport horses before the millennium began. To make sure the horse grazing at VallyCrest is his family's stolen steed, Jamey pretends to be a wanderer able to work with stubborn horses. The owner of VallyCrest, Victoria Jameson hires Jamey as an exercise rider, hoping he will calm down their newest horse Mr. Miracle, recently bought in Belgium. As Jamey works on the Tennessee spread, he concludes that the horse her niece's spouse bought in Europe belongs to his family. However, a complication has set in as he has fallen in love with his boss, a feeling she reciprocates. He now wonders how to tells his beloved the truth when she probably will never talk to him again for failing to confide in her from the first day he arrived on her ranch.

Mr. Miracle is an enjoyable ranch romance starring two lovable characters who have suffered in the past. The story line provides much pleasure as Jamey and Vic fall in love, but they need a miracle to overcome the dark side of their hearts left behind from previous relationships. Jamey also struggles with the Grand Canyon of a hole he dug for himself by hiding the truth from his beloved. Carolyn McSparren writes a fun romantic tale that continues the super literary celebration of the upcoming Y2K.

These are delicious!
I've made 9 of these recipes (meals and sauces) so far and they are very delicious and easy to make. I don't make my own pasta, however, and about 1/4 of the book is pasta recipes. Still the other recipes make this book well worth it!

Healthful recipes that actually taste good!
All of us seem to be eating more chicken, fish, and pasta than we used to, but enjoying them far less. Rodgers managers to incorporate healthy (and relatively easy) preparation with a generous dose of the good flavors that have been missing from other "good for you" recipes. His "Inside-Out Ravioli" made with pasta, spinach, ground turkey, tomatoes, spices, and cheese (some non-fat and some regular) has become a staple around here, satisfying everyone from an 84 year old to a pre-teen. The book offers preparation that is easy enough for after-work cooking, but with results that are interesting enough for company. This book is a must-have for anyone who wants variety, taste, and good nutrition in the kitchen.

Excellent book, highly recommended
Mr. Bond's wonderful book not only enlightens the reader to many fascinating biographies of the fathers and mothers of our hymnal, but tells a story in an interesting way in order to even keep the interest of young children. I highly recommend it to all, young and old, especially to be placed in a homeschool study. It is refreshing to see a book that tells the story of the important history of our church that has been so lacking before, especially in a children's book form. I highly commend Mr. Bond for his work.

A wonderful resource!
For several years we've memorized hymns as a family, so when I found this book I was ecstatic. We're reading it a chapter a month and learning one of the hymns that goes with each story. It's obvious that an amazing amount of research went into this book, but somehow it doesn't feel as though the information is being stuffed into you. The stories become real. I look forward to reading the second one in the series, and hope to see others in the future. *note--the book includes lyrics and music for many of the hymns. I don't play an instrument, so we've learned some of the tunes from the Cyber Hymnal, another resource well worth checking out!

U.S. Army in Mexico
To call Mr. Polk's Army the best, most authorative book on the Mexican War would not be a long shot. It is a revolutionary book, with a great deal of firsthand sources and reminiscences not used previously. I have the privilege of working with several professors and historians who are experts on the subject, and they all tend to agree with me. Dr. Winders, the curator of the Alamo, blends social history and military history, with a dose of political history, to tell the story of the 1846-1848 U.S. Army, regulars and volunteers, officers and enlisted men. While it is meticulously researched, it is also entertaining, and not over the head of the general reader. I, and many other more qualified readers, would recommend this as the work to read on the U.S. Army in Mexico.

Drawn from a vast amalgamation of diaries & journals
Historian Richard Winder's Polk's Army is a closely detailed, meticulously researched, scholarly and engaging presentation of the daily life of American soldiers who fought in the Mexican War, drawn from a vast amalgamation of diaries, journals, and reminiscences. Polk's Army goes further to connect the army to the society from which it was drawn, and portrays a military undertaking that was a unilaterally shared experience for all ranks and walks of American soldiers, despite their differences in background or politics. Illustrated with some black-and-white historical photographs and drawings, Polk's Army is a superb, in-depth reference for anyone with a vested interest in learning more about a war that forever changed the physical shape and political future of the United States of America.

Mr. Putter books are classics
I had heard so many good things about the Mr. Putter books that I decided to try them out with my 3-year old daughter, thinking that she may be a bit young for more words and fewer pictures. However, there are pictures on every page and only a few sentences to each. My daughter loves these books, especially this story. Her stuffed cat has been renamed Tabby.

One of the things I love about this book is that it includes silly details that make my child laugh every time - a bird picking fake grapes off of Mrs. Teaberry's hat, pouring water out of her hat onto everyone on a hot day, the "wierd" foods they bring along for the picnic...

I know of children all the way up to 3rd grade who enjoy these books, so I highly recommend them for any kids ages 4 to 8. Or as young as 3 if your child has the attention span.

Mr. Putter & Tabby Row the Boat
Mr. Putter is the kind of neighbor every neighborhood needs. Kids as well as adults love Mr. Putter stories. I hope to be like Mr. Putter when I grow up or is it old? All the Mr. Putter books are a hit with my second grade students and with me as well.

Vivid true adventure
An amazing true adventure brought to life -- beautifully written, and with a spirited hero and heroine. In a narrative and highly readable fashion, the author takes us back into the life and times of the early 1800s. She brings into sharp relief the courage and persistence shown by Nicholas Roosevelt and his young wife Lydia Latrobe, as they dared the first steamboat voyage down the uncharted waters of the Mississippi River. The New Madrid earthquake, Indians, primitive living conditions and a host of other challenges spice the story of the historic voyage.

History that Reads Like Fiction
"Mr. Roosevelt's Steamboat" describes the first steamboat journey on the Mississippi. It reads like a fast-paced novel yet it is scrupulously accurate history thanks to the thorough research done by the gifted Ms. Dohan. The three-month voyage starts in Pittsburgh in 1811 and is an exciting adventure for Nicholas and Lydia Roosevelt and their two children--the second born enroute. (Nicholas was Theodore Roosevelt's great-granduncle.) Roosevelt believed in his boat and risked everything to demonstrate the commercial feasibility of steam transportation on the Mississippi. The adventure-packed voyage includes passages through dangerous falls, a chase by Indians, the New Madrid earthquake and an on-board fire. This excellently written book is a must for those who like true-action with their history.

Mr. Sneeze - What A strange Land We Live In
Mr. Sneeze just keeps giving and giving. This book is amazing; our daughter has heard it over and over and still wants more. It is the perfect length, not too long, not too short (she never looses interest). I would definitely recommend this to everyone who has kids.

"Mr. Sneeze" never grows old !
The children in my family have recycled and shared many of the Little Miss and Mr. books by Roger Hargreave for the past several years. But the favorite seems to be Mr. Sneeze.I recently found an old copy of Little Miss Trouble that belonged to my youngest child who is now a junior in college. He was excited but said " I'd give $100.00 for Mr. Sneeze". It is still out of print, but amazingly his cousin still had my son's original copy! He was estatic to find it under the Christmas tree this past Christmas! So... Mr. Sneeze never grows old!

The most enjoyable book I've ever read.
My latest out of print Suskind book finally arived today and I tore through the packaging which I let fall to the floor and I sat down and would not get up until it was finished. I had to stop every couple pages and pound the table and laugh and shake my head. When I got about halfway through, I had to get up and walk around and compose myself before continuing. I was walking around wiping my tears of joy and wondering why there aren't more people going insane over Suskind like me. I had just gladly spent 60 bucks on this out of print book. As soon as I save up more I'm going to fork over 200 more to get The Double Bass to finish my collection of his literary efforts. I wonder why everyone just stops with Perfume, they seem to like that one enough.
I'm still young and there's a lot more books beyond Suskind to be read. Maybe he won't seem so brilliant after I've more, but for now, man he's good. I've never laughed so hard at reading anything in my life as the piano lesson part of Mr. Summer's Story. This book is so beautiful. I hope Patrick Suskind continues to publish more in the future that will blow more people's minds and influence publishers to reprint these wonderful books.

Great!
This is one brilliant book. I've read it in a library about four years ago, and I still a lot of it. Read it, you'll love it. Also read The Double Bass

An inspiration
I have been a huge Mr. T fan ever since the A Team, and I have continued to follow his career ever since. His book not only is a surprise in terms of its literary merit, but it's an inspiration. Mr. T came from nothing, to turn himself into one of the finest American actors, and a beloved personality. My only lament is that the book is not more widely read, because, as an autobiography, it ranks with THEY CALL ME ASSASSIN by Jack Tatum, ME by Katherine Hepburn, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar's GIANT STEPS. In fact, it's better. Mr. T has a better sense of rhythm to his language; he's more psychologically insightful; and he has a voice as strong as any in modern fiction--like a cross between Bellow's Augie March and Joe Frazier. I have read the book several times, and I recommend it to anyone who likes a true story, well told.

Seminal Work
This book came out when I was 22 years old - inexperienced, confused, frightened by life. I bought this book in the grocery store on a lark. It was the best book that could have possible fallen into my hands. The author is a very strong man who has conquered great adversity in his life. It's not the greatest book ever written, but it's one of my favorites. It was written with great conviction and sincerity.

It's not boring, either. T's adventures are worth reading for their entertainment value alone. Mr. T claims he didn't use a ghost writer, and I believe him (although my dad thinks I'm nuts). Anyone who thinks Mr. T is a joke and simply a pop phenomenon should read this book and learn what strength, determination, and a belief in oneself can accomplish.
