A living legend comes to life! You can't find anything better if you're looking for information on the great Mr. Bojangles.
An American Original"Mr. Bojangles: The Biography of Bill Robinson" not only serves as a crucial historical document, but also as a vivid portrait of a truly special man. An original in every sense of the word, Bill Robinson created a unique style of tap dancing, along with breaking the racist barriers of his time. This book superbly chronicles (with the help of first-hand source materials and interviews with people who knew him) the life of this incredible artist, entertainer, and humanitarian. You will not only learn what the world was like when Mr. Robinson struggled in his craft, but you will discover the values and convictions that drove him forward. You will be moved by the benevolence of this man's spirit--a spirit that could coin a phrase such as "Everything's Copasetic!" This is a touching and informative biography that informs the evolution of tap AND the human experience.

Mr. Chairman Power in Dan Rostenkowski's AmericaAuthor Jim Merriner covered politics for the Chicago Sun-Times, and he brings that insight -- and razor-sharp writing -- to this book. There are two biographies of Rostenkowski out right now, and for some reason, reviewers and bookstores have given more prominance to the other book. But Merriner's book is the better of the two. It is written by a pro who knows politics, knows Chicago and, despite his years as a newspaperman, has an aversion to cliches. Rostenkowski's story is an engrossing one, and Merriner does it justice.
Wonderful reading! This book is very well written. Easy to read for even those of us who may not be "politicaly oriented". Gave me a great insight and understanding of American politics. Definitely would recomend it! Covers a time span from early Chicago to present day.

A wonderful and funny account of chile pepper addictionThis is the funniest and best informed book about chiles and hot sauce that I have ever read. Most books give you recipes or histories of peppers, but Campbell's approach is truly different. He recounts his various quests for the hottest of hot sauces, and, in the course of his journey, he uses humor (frequently black humor) to provide information about all kinds of peppers, hot sauces, and the addictive lifestyle of those who have come to know the joys and sorrows of hot sauce. And, as a bonus, he includes some incredible recipes (yes, they are hot!) The book just looks great--it is small and beautiful, almost a little fetish object in its own right--and I love the way that Campbell obsesses over his addiction while maintaining his humanity. For anyhow who loves hot sauce and chile pepper pain, this is a unique read.
A wonderful narrative of the Chilehead lifestyle! As a devout Chilehead, I've been waiting for someone to put into words the fiery affliction that I, and many countless others live with. James Campbell uses wit, introspect and a great command of the language to paint a picture of "Painland"; our home. He includes numerous facts and resources, such as the web site Pyropepper.com of which I had never heard, to give a well rounded narrative of life as a Chilehead. Bravo! I recommend this book for chile lovers of course, but also for anyone with a good sense of humor and love of a great read.

Sherlock Homes SuspenseDavid, it's me Bruce Lee - email me at bruce@davismicro.com 10/12/9
Revealing, sensitive study of a disturbed, charismatic manBarry Rothman was indeed an enigma to those who thought they knew him. Radiating charisma, creating his own world, burning like a "candle in the wind", adults and children alike responded to the spark within him. David B. Rothman took the time to examine the twists and turns of the brief life, a feat that only a determined, heartbroken child could accomplish. Mr. Death stands not only as a biography, but as a work of art in itself. Only those who knew Barry can realize the strength it took to examine his life with a critical, yet caring eye. David has accomplished this. No one else could. Everyone else was either too angry for what he was not, or too caught up in the myth of what he was.
Good job David!

Wonderful addition to your Christmas libraryThere are two things that really captured my attention in this book, one is the simplicity of the recipes and two is the presentation of the final dish. The pictures in this book made me want to try the recipes right away. I enjoyed reading this book in July and I know it will be invaluable for that HUGE family dinner on December 25 (what possessed me to volunteer? ), not to mention bake sales, kids' school parties, and holiday entertaining. It's terrific!
soooooperMr Foods christmas is great for starting traditions, and making the holiday fun. It is easy to read and interesting all the way through. you can't put it down till you've searched it out to the end !

The best grilling cookbook! Most grill cookbooks have 2 or 3 recipes you might actually use. Not this one! I have cooked about 75% of the recipes out of this fabulous book! From munchies to gourmet burgers, from veggies to desserts. And all of the recipes are VERY SIMPLE and use everyday ingredients. You have to try the Pina Colada Chicken... it's wonderful! I have yet to find a Mr. Food Cookbook I didn't like.
Fantastic and Easy!I have had this cookbook since last summer and use it more than all the rest I have combined. The recipes are varied and all tasty and as with all Mr. Food's cookbooks, as easy as can be. I am no gourmet cook, but I almost always have the ingredients on hand and my picky family loves virtually everything I have made from this book. My teenager has made me promise to get her one to put away for when she is on her own.....now, that's a real compliment to Mr. Food.

Not my favorite, but still greatI love all the Mr. Food cookbooks. I would advise everyone to buy at least one, since they are slowly but surely going out of print. This one is also very, very good, though not my favorite.
Another excellent cookbook by Mr. FoodI am so pleased with Mr. Food's Meals in Minutes. Like his other cookbooks the dishes are common folk stuff with easly to find ingredients and instructions. Perfect for anyone who is short on time & yet still hungry for a home cooked meal and fantastic for even beginner cooks.

Mr. Food's Old World Cooking Made Easy (The Mr. Food Series)I have several cookbooks in my home. This one is my favorite of all! Everything I have prepared from this book has been a hit with my friends and family. In addition to making the dishes tastes "soooooo good" he really does allow me to cook soooooooo easy. Mr. Ginsberg, you have made St. Patrick's Day alot more fun at my house (my Irish ancestors would be so proud)! I get to wow my friends with recipes from other foreign countries, too. You make me look like a great cook even though I am just a mere novice in your shadow! Thank you for making cooking fun!
The best cook books in the world are Mr. Food!If you are looking to learn how to cook, look no further! Mr. Food cookbooks are the best I've ever tried. I am a teenager and am just starting to build up my cooking skills, and Mr. Food makes it so easy and fun. I can impress my family with dishes that seem like they took a lot of time but really took no effort. So don't hesitate in buying Mr. Food, this one especially. It's my favorite. So far!:-)

Very sweet marriage of convience story. There was times I could not put it down; I just couldn't wait to read what happens next. At times Mr Francis would get mad or confused at his wife and call her woman. There were times I just had to laugh out loud! It gets you attention after the first couple of pages. Great book! Would recommend it to anyone that likes christian fiction and marriage of convience stories.
a real life romanceLive and laugh with this woman as she faces the challenges of a large family, an Amish upbringing and a marriage of necessity.

Mr. Gallion's School is the essence of why someone teaches.Mr. Gallion's School makes you feel like you are not fighting a hopeless battle when you work to help children become successful. In a society where children, especially teenagers, are thought of as disrespectful and unruly, Jesse Stuart plants the idea into your head that our society CAN be saved. Everyone who cares anything about the future of our country should read this book. In it's pages they will find the warm, fuzzy feeling that you feel when a child looks at you with respect and admiration and thankfulness. Mr. Gallion's School leaves you believing that there are some great teachers amid all the bad ones that you read about in the media and that the great ones have all the power in the world to make children great.
For anyone interested in the education of our youthWritten about a high school in trouble in the fifties, this is a timeless piece of literature about the education of our youth and the problems with the teenage culture in our world today. I think all those involved in any way with teaching, caring for, or raising children need to read this book. Stuart addresses how to motivate children to want to work. This is a must read.
