Wonderful, as are all of CYNTHIA RYLANT'S books
Mr Putter and Tabby are our favorites. Wonderful story, whimsical writing style. I RECOMMENED THIS ONE HIGHLY, and every one in the series.

You can't do everything
I have every book in this series. This one is a good book to show little ones that not every one can do it all. When my little one is too small to do something, this one shows that Mr. Putter can't learn to play the horn. His friendly neighbor does, but he is happy in the end. Get the whole series and enjoy. My 4 year old loves them, but secretly, I bought them for myself.

Best children book collection for kids and parents

The "Mr. Putter and Tabby" collection is the best I have found for children. This particular episode has Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry trying to play music more or less successfully but having a very good time at it and being happy to have at least given it a try. When you read it, you can make all sorts of funny 'music' sounds that bring joy to your little one -and are fun to do too...

All the "Putter & Tabby" books are really well illustrated with very expressive characters, and the stories are intelligent, funny, and warm. My child adores them and is always asking for a reading session of "Mr Putter and Tabby". He was 2 when we read our first one and the books are so great that I believe he will still enjoy them when he learns to read. In the mean time, I enjoy them too and haven't tired yet of reading a couple of them every evening. So, although until now I have borrowed these books from the public library, I am now buying the whole collection.

So adorable!! The cutest calendar.
They are so cute together. I have already purchased five for gifts. Everybody that has recieved one or seen it has fallen in love with these two Bichons. I highly recommend this for any dog lover that you know.

The Sweetest Souls!
Mr. Widget and Ms. Lily couldn't be any cuter if they tried! All the photos are truly amazing and creative. They bring a smile to my face everyday! My calendar is hanging in my office at work and everyone loves to come in to see the next month's photo!

The BEST BICHON CALENDAR EVER!
This calendar is the cutest! Each month is a different scene, appropriate for the holiday or season. These two puppies are just as fluffy and adorable as can be, and they're so photogenic that you wonder if they're really real!
I received Mr. Widget's 2002 calendar as a gift last year... This Christmas I intend to give Mr. Widget and Miss Lily calendars to EVERYONE on my gift list!

great gift book
We received this book as a gift when we were expecting our second child. It is a great book for parents to read to very young children who are expecting their first siblings. The only drawback is the dated pictures. If they were updated, it would be flawless!

Wonderful book!
This book is a wonderful way to help an older sibling prepare for, and adjust to, a new baby. And as the baby gets older, she or he too will enjoy the interesting photgraphs of family members working and sharing together. It's a great book.

Older children will see that parents can love two!
This book is tremendous! Rogers does an excellent job showing that love and affection can be shared with both children. He also lets the older child see how they can be a big sister/brother and help Mom and Dad with the new baby's needs too! I buy this book for everyone I know who has a 2nd baby!

Oh No Mr. Fish - fun & educational
Oh No Mr. Fish is great. The music is very lively -- my kids sing along with every song! They also love the illustrations. As a parent, what I like best about the book is that it teaches valuable lessons about taking care of the environment, cooperation and perserverance.

A great teaching tool!
We were fortunate enough to have the author of this charming book visit our elementary school. She visited a variety of classes in grades 1, 2, and 3. Children were given copies of the book while listening to the tape recording. They all absolutely loved the story told through sing-along music and animated voices. Children really care about the environment, and it was wonderful to hear their thoughts and ideas during the question and answer session with the author. Now that it is part of our classroom library, it is the favorite of many students!

So Glad I Own It!!
This is my daughter's favorite book! She just loves it. I read her a book every night at bedtime and she always chooses this one. She brings it to friends houses when she has a sleep over too. It's so refreshing to read a book that sends the right message to kids as well as keeping them interested. Her reading skills have improved as well - but, maybe she has the book memorized! And that's ok with me - she also has the lesson memorized! I will certainly be buying other books by this author.

War with Mr. Wizzle

The Greatest of the Bruno and Boots Books
The best Bruno and Boots book- Gordon Korman really fleshes out the situations at both Miss Scrimage's and Macdonald Hall as he does in no other book. The antics are not just those of Bruno and Boots, but also of Cathy and Diane, their friends from the girls' school. While part of the plot forces one to suspend one's disbelief, this is an extremely funny book.

An absolutely wonderful, hysterically funny book!
I don't even remember what the book was about, I just remember laughing out loud and annoying all my family members. I strongly recommend all the Bruno and Boots stories, as well as many other of Gordon Korman's books.

Another winner from Korman in the Bruno and Boots series!
When a computer nerd is called in to take control of the school, Bruno and Boots, along with their friends, decide that Wizzle has to go! With imaginative pranks, some of which backfire, they try their best to take back their beloved school. Lots of laughs, as usual.

Too cute for words
Is he real? Where can I get one of these cute little live muppets? This dog is so cute I just want to snap him up and cuddle him for hours. Hurray to Lara Jo Regan for taking a desolate little stray and turning him into a pampered pooch with a fan club.

Too cute for words and a poster 'pet' for animal rescue
Lara Jo Regan is the Anne Geddes of dogs! Her photos were amazingly creative and Mr. Winkle is just adorable. I bought this book as a present for a friend and was happy to know that part of the proceeds go to animal rescue, as do proceeds from Mr. Winkle's celebrity appearances. I may be a bad person but I kept the book - partly because my friend had bought it and had it auto-pawed by Mr. Winkle at a book signing but because it is a wonderful testament to another rescue doing good for the cause!

AMERICAN'S NEWEST TOP DOG!!!
The question is "What is Mr. Winkle?" and the answer is... what ever your heart desires! The book features photos of this incredibly cute canine in various costumes . Mr. Winkle pretends to be a ghost, a sailor, and a ballerina. Mr. Winkles pretends to be other animals like a lion and a seal. You just have to see it to believe it! He is sooooo adorable!! My personal favorite photo is Mr. Winkle is an angel. And that is exactly what Mr. Winkle is an angel in fur!!

Hornblowers early years
Horatio is self-analytical whilst being completely honourable; an 'old-fashioned' hero. CSF succeeds in developing the character as he weaves in the turmoil of HH's profession and -- somewhat ragged -- personal fortunes. A wonderful read!

Hornblower is great stuff!
I just finished reading _Mr. Midshipman Hornblower_. I also watched the A & E 4 part series based on the book. *LOVED IT! * But, then I also love Cornwell's _Sharpe_ series, and he says he wrote that because there were no more _Hornblower_ books. I also love Trek & see alot of similarity in the way Hornblower perceives duty to how Picard does, and how Kirk charges ahead where angels fear to tread as Hornblower does. I have also read Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/ Maturin and Weber's Honor Harrington-- both Hornblower and Sharpe are better soldiers and characters. There is little humanity to those officers, little questioning of duty or rightness of action. I look forward to reading _Lt. Hornblower_ and the next "New Frontier" Trek novels, by Peter David, another Hornblower-like captain. If you are interested in the _Hornblower_ series start with this book.

Three Complete Books in one cover, NOT all sequential
Just as the Hornblower novels were not written in chronological order, this combination is #1, 2 and, I think, 5 (Not counting the short story "Hornblower's Temptation" in book "H..during the Crisis"). Same with "Indomitable Hornblower" 3 novels in one cover, but not in sequence. Not knocking the Novels, but the concept seems odd

Aliens Took My Daughter

127 readings later, I still love it!
My son has asked for this book (and Mr. Henderson's other book, What's Behind The Bump) relentlessly in recent weeks--and for once, I haven't minded a bit! It's Seuss-like in it's likeability for young and old-- silly rhymes, wacky pictures, plus some hidden elements to find. The more you read it, the more you wonder.

A wonderful, spirited book
"Aliens Took My Daughter" delightfully shows a father's puzzlement when his usually sweet toddler goes on the rampage through the house. Parents will enjoy it for the humorous take on familiar frustrations, and kids will respond to the idea that their parents love them even when they're not behaving their best. This Hendersen fellow has captured something sweet and whimsical in the chaos of the toddler household. I hope to see more books from him soon.

At Twelve Mr. Byng Was Shot
Published in Audio Cassette by Books on Tape (January, 1962)
Author: Dudley Pope
Amazon base price: $72.00
Average review score:

"For the Encouragement of the Others"
At one stage in Voltaire's Candide, our characters approach the English coastline to witness the execution of an admiral who was guilty of no particular offense, but is being shot "for the encouragement of the others." This was a reference to the notorious execution of Admiral Byng, described by Pope as one of the worst instances of "judicial murder" in British legal history. Pope's narrative takes us to the opening of the Seven Years' War (the European name for the French and Indian Wars), wherein Byng's fleet attempted, unsuccessfully, to resupply the British Meditteranean base in Minorca. After an inconclusive naval encounter with the French, Byng withdrew from the island and took his fleet back to Gibraltar. Whereupon all hell descended upon him and he was court-martialled, and shot, by a panicky British high command for supposed cowardice. Pope takes us through each phase of the trial, as well as the subsequent attempts to pardon Byng. Several of the usual heroes of British naval history, such as Lord Anson and Admiral Byng, emerge with less than admirable reputations for their complicity in the show-trial, whereas others such as Augustus Keppel seems to have taken genuine career risks in order to save their friend.

I would read this together with Piers Macksey's excellent "The Coward of Minden," which deals with a near-contemporaneous trial of a British general, on similarly trumped up charges.

An excellent account
This is a fascinating account of the incident which resulted in Admiral Byng being shot on 14 March 1758. It is very well told and the story is a lamentable one. John Byng was sent to the Mediterranean in 1757 with a weak squadron, engaged in a battle with the French off Minorca, and then the next day the squadron--some ships in which had been badly damaged--went back to Gibralter. Admiral Byng was court-martialed and shot! As Voltaire said: "In this country it is thought well to kill an admiral from time to time to encourage the others!" You can't go wrong reading this book about this amazing event.

Born To Heal
This is a fascinating story about the use of life energy!

Other recommended reading: Time To Heal by Linda Pynaker - this story will show you how you, too, can share healing energy!

It is the finest introductory book on the subject.
Touch therapy is the oldest and finest modality of healing on this planet. It treats the cause of an illness. This is one book that should remain on the market especially now with Reiki and Touch Therapy being used by more and more professionals, even in hospital settings. Patients should have the opportunity to understand that there is real hope, not traditional hopelessness. I am thankful that Ruth Montgomery wrote Born to Heal. I have been using this approach for 25 years and I have seen what it can do.
