Excellent History Book
This is the most detailed and longest history book I have ever read. Although it is a tad too long for high school students, it covers a lot of infomation for the AP History test. For you AP History teachers, I would recommend that you should teach from this book. It helps prepare the students for their AP test.

Wow- a history book??
I was never one to enjoy history much until my college history class used this book for the main text. I found this book great reading (interesting and kept my attention most of the time). I must say that after that class and this book, I have become much more interested in aspects of history. This book is wonderful and I would recommend it to any college professor of history or high school student with even a slight interest in history!

A good basis for further reading
I read this book as someone, relatively new to American politics, and found it extremely helpful. Whereas some US political book only cover certain aspects, Melusky covers everything, and manages to relate it all to each other. Thankfully though, he manages to do that in a non-complicated way.

Now that I am more au fait with the subject, some of this book is too basic, but it is still an excellent tool for reference nonetheless.

Great enjoyable primer
Melusky uses a clear, engaging and unbiased conversational tone to explain the basics of the American polical system. Generous use of side bar quotes and discussion of politcal difficulties make it an entertaining and thought provoking book for the novice. It's written for a 101 college course, but my 6th grade gate student, who is interested in law and politics, has enjoyed it. (however, he also enjoyed Moby Dick in the 4th grade too.) If you believe as I do that a book is made by its writing style, this is a great book for the subject.

There are ten chapters as follows: 1. Politics, the Politcal System and You; 2. Foundations of the American Political System (social contrat theroy...); 3. Constitutional Rights and Liberties; 4. Linking Public Officials to the Public: Public Opinion and Voting; 5. Collective Links to Public Officials: Parties and Interest Groups; 6. Elections: Presidential and Congressional; 7. Congress; 8. The American President; 9. The Federal Bureaucracy; and 10.The Federal Court System.

this book is so expensive!!!
This book is essential to anyone taking Anatomy. It is very detailed and provides a lot of pictures. It is sometimes too detailed, which makes it difficult for the average student to understand. I recommend using it along with the anatomy coloring book. My only complaint is the price, why is it so expensive?

Great Anatomy Tool
I have to use this book for Human Anatomy and it is great the detail put into the book. If you buy it new from the publisher it even comes with a CD and a thinner, helpful spiral bound book that contains all of the diagrams.

great for beginners
This book is very easy to understand. It is laid out a little differently than the Marieb, Martini and Tortora books. I find it easier to understand though. The extra tidbits in the book are really interesting as well. The book has answered things I have often wondered about but, never asked anyone. If you are new to A&P this book will really help you out without overwhelming you and confusing you. Thank you Dr Van de Graaff

Great graphics
Great graphics but the contents are slightly inferior to established Anatomy and Physiology books. Refer to the Interactive CDs and other books. This alone won't ensure you to complete reference but somepart will definitely help.

the best Anatomy book ever
This is the best book I ever seen for a Anatomy and Physiology class. This book have the best picktures and diagrams, well explained material and websitite to die for. I love this book. I would never sell it back. By the way, noone in my class sold it back ( even non-bio majors kept it).

Excellent text for Anatomy and Physiology Students
This was our assigned text for our college Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 classes. This book is quite descriptive and prepares any pre-med or pre-healthcare student for passing their A and P classes. I like how the muscles and nervous system are presented. Knowing the difference between the masseter and frontalis muslces is an example on how this book makes learning this subject easier. I also highly used the following which is on amazon:Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Patrick Leonardi
Also, Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology by Patrick Leonardi was another helpful book that made test preparation much easier. These last 3 books made studying easier because it showed me the type of questions that were asked on my A and P college exams. My study group and I used these 4 books and we all got A's in our classes.

Interesting, but WRONG
I am a scholar of Hungarian history, and almost every single mention of the Hungarians or "Magyars" is linked with information that is either plain wrong or shows an immense bias and at the very least a very superficial understanding of the subject material. This is how Kossuth Lajos becomes a racist, there is no mention of Petofi Sandor or Ferenc Deak who were integral in the 1848 revolution and Ausgleich, and a sharp distinction drawn between "Hungarians" and "Magyars." If the author is this wrong about so many subjects that I noticed, how many of his supposed "facts" can really be trusted?

Overall it get's the job done.
True this is a tough book to finnish reading. It's rather dry but is packed with a vast amount of wonderful information. As a primary textbook for an AP European History class it benifited me greatly, after I re-read each page at least twice. For you teachers of the class out there, I'd make it a supplement, not the primary source for information at the high school level. College professors well you can make your students suffer through it. It's not too bad!

A huge book - in every way!
This classic is a must for everyone who appreciates well-written history books. Palmer and Colton's gargantuan "History of the Modern World" conveys a vast amount of knowledge in an interesting manner (although at times close to unbearably dense)and its ideas and perspectives are always relevant, new and enlightening. This is a great supplementary text for every European history course you may be taking or teaching. It is also a treasure chest of historic personalities, events and a panoply of culure through the ages. And a look at the enormous Bibliography will convince you that this book was indeed written by two first-rate scholars. Don't let the price scare you, it is a tremendous read, wonderfully presented, perfectly readable, and it's about as much fun as 800 pages of history can be!

I recomend it to every Operations Research students
As a portuguese student, at Universidade Lusíada, i found this book an excelent manual. It's only a shame that this book doesn't develop more the chapter of defining a linear programing problem. Nevertheless, i found it very elucidating and easy to read to everyone

A bright "Star" in the OR SKY!!!
Very good book! Can be used as a reference for practising engineers or as a Text-book in a class room at the Senior under-graduate class or in a Masters program. I used this book 25 years ago and now the 2001 edition is very well written and organized, addressing the 21st Century problems in OR. For Personal PC applications the CD is of great help for any one who want to succeed in Operations Research!

Suerte!

Excelent
