I am always looking for books on the sport of waterfowling and it's history. This book was very enjoyable as it talked of a way of life many years ago; not only about those men who participated as market hunters, but of the tools of their trade. As a modern waterfowler, I blamed the lack of game on these people of the past. From reading this book I learned not to blame them, but rather understand why they did what they did. I have a different outlook now. I would suggest reading The Outlaw Gunner and The Last of the Market Hunters

This is a book of review questions including a discussion for each answer. This book is extremely useful for ophthalmology residents as well as recent grads preparing for the boards. it covers all topics in an easy to use format.

OK, so it's not ALL of C&L, but it does represent the equivalent of the best review articles of each C&L subject(the way MY hospital teaches the subject.)In fact some of the hints, especially by Dr./Fr. Casem, I have not found anywhere else, and are very practical even at my basic level (I am a psychiatry resident,curently doing my C&L rotation.) My attending was so impressed at my "knowledge" (I'd read the book!), HE went out and bought one, too. If you've an interest in C&L psychiatry, or in the management of "difficult" patients on any hospital service, this book surely tops the list.

This book offers an interesting and completely comprehensible overview of diabetes. It is not a "how-to" book, nor does it pretend to be. Rather, it gives you the background information you need to better understand your care plan that your physician, dietician, and whomever else prepares with you. While there are many other volumes on the subject, I recommend this one as an essential resource for any living with diabetes or a diabetic.

A must read for any physician considering a career change to medical management. This compilation, edited by Dr. Arthur Lazarus, is the Bible for physician executive career development. I recommend it all my colleagues.

I've used this and the previous edition of Greenberg's text for my epidemiology and literature interpretation course for Physician Assistant students. I've found the text very readable and nicely linked to clinical practice. Each chapter starts with a clinical case around which the chapter is focused. The study questions at the end of each chapter also are useful.

It is an excellent introductory text for clinicians/health professional students. Probably would not be the best choice for a epidemiology course in an epidemiology graduate program or career epidemiologists.

Dr. Haubrich's glossary is a clearly a labor of love as well as expertly researched tome of medical meanings. For those interested in etymology, his book is as much as a therapeutic massage to the intellect as Barnette's book (Ladyfingers & Nun's Tummies) is a sensual, cerebral tweeking of the palate. I stumbled across an advertisement for the book in a medical journal. Having spent a few months researching medical word origins, I gave up after reading this delightful book. It has no past (or future) competition. The advertisment was meant for physicians, but I believe that a much wider audience might well enjoy his meticulous research and muted humor. I enjoyed his mini-essay on the origin of the "Western blot", the tables explaining number and color origins, his whimsical asides on otherwise obscure (and pretentious) medical terminologies. I paid full price, and I would advocate for an amazon.com discount, as well as a pairing of the book with other more popular books on word origins. I would hope that the author plans a sequel, paperback edition and/or periodic updates to this delicious "word salad" of medical etymology! If William Safire uses this book for his column, he must give Dr. Haubrich proper attribution. He deserves it.

This is a well organized and written reference that makes sense of the arcane world of fungal names and nomenclature. I am a veterinary dermatology resident and from one careful reading of this book I was able identify the most common pathogenic and contaminant fungi. I recommend this book to the any health professional or student who needs to learn and more important understand and identify medically relevant fungal organisms. I wish all of my textbooks were this clear. If I had to choose one reference for mycology, this would be it. Bravo!!!

After reading many books regarding the medical aspect of dentistry, I can honestly say that this book by Scully and Cawson is the best I've read and the best I've enjoyed reading. It covers all aspects and most importantly, it relates back to its dental implications very well. Very well laid out, very simple and concise and very very informative. An excellent book.
