This is the best handbook on a pain related subject that I have ever seen. While certainly not intended to be an exhaustive review, it provides a great deal of practical info in an 'outline" form.

I highly recommend the book to anyone who deals with back pain, especially in primary care.

After reading & really comprehending the meaning of the reality that his words describe you would reach the same conclusion I did. And that is, that, "if man used everything he knows for man instead of against man, then every man would be great, and no one would be poor. And that is the scariest thing to anyone who believes that he is truly great. It is only in this foolishness that he remains ignorant & eternally dead."

This book is a thorough collection of journal articles on manic disorders and their treatments. The summary is in english and is useful when presenting the information to the general public.

I bought this manual for my rotation in Clinical Oncology and it sure was a great companion. It's very concise and clearly written, and covers every aspect relevant to Oncology, from carcinogenesis to general principles of management to complications of therapy. It is great for reviewing the most important points after having read a textbook or for clarifying questions that arise "in the field". I recommend it highly.

Exactly what is needed for a pediatrics rotation. Paragraph form but very brief and well-organized. Very up-to-date and readable, much more so than textbooks in pediatrics. Interesting reading too!

The best referance for the primary care physician to rapidly find the therapy.

This is a concise and authoritative review of how to take care of persons with AIDS and HIV. It has the most current treatments. Patients and physicians will find it interesting.

Editor William Roberts, MD, of the American Journal of Cardiology writes in his "Good Books in Cardiovascular Disease Appearing in 1999" that the Manual of Lipid Disorders "is an excellent book. I use it frequently." Although the book is written for the physician reader, it may also be helpful for the educated layperson interested in knowing cutting-edge information about reducing risk for coronary heart disease. There is an extensive discussion of the concept of rupture-prone, or vulnerable, plaques featured in January 2000 on ABC's 20/20.

This is a fascinating depiction of the life of Margaret Mitchell within the context of an Atlanta that is far more sophisticated and complicated than when she lived there. As you begin your drive you go from the newly renovated Margaret Mitchell house (which is also fun for a tour) down Peachtree Street, past the Georgian Terrace and into less modern areas of the city until you end at her grave at the Oakland Cemetary. It is really moving when you finally drive up and park and listen to the final words of the tape. I loved the tape of the Battle of Peachtree Creek and I love this one--both because you really see the city in a multi-faceted way; both from a historical and a contemporary perspective. This is particularly effective with Margaret Mitchell who loved Atlanta and lived and died here. The stories and quotes which you listen to on the tape bring you close to a real Margaret Mitchell not just the legendary figure who wrote Gone With The Wind. This is just a great way to follow her personal history and see the places where she lived and died. Definitely a must do for fans of Margaret Mitchell as well as those who are curious to see Atlanta within a broad spectrum of its architecture and its history.
