In Light Of Al-Qur'an: Learning How To Live by Ahmed K. Nazir is a collection of erudite essays that discuss Islamic principles with a keen appeal to reason. Most of the essays are brief and expound upon simple points of human thought and behavior from an Islamic perspective and include such considerations as perspicacity, sophistry, grace and mercy, dissociation, and more. In Light Of Al-Qur'an is a highly intelligent, well written, and confidently recommended addition to Islamic Studies reading lists and reference collections as an informed and informative examination of the intersection of traditional Islam and the expectations of daily conduct in a contemporary secular world.

I found this book very interesting and informative. It has helped me to see how the mind works in sickness and how difficult that life must be. It has helped me to understand that a sick mind has no control and to be patient with people who have mental illness. I think this was a very good book. Alice B.

This is the book used by me to find the very best durgs to cancel my worries and to put me quietly into a sleep where I do not hurt and burn and fear. Many things I learn in this book, like Dilaudid and Qualuude and Valium and Klonopin and such. These are the things that make me my goddest and very, very quiet and tired. Oh so happy has this book made me, I thank you Dr. Constantine you are the Elvis of medicine and a man of many RX.

This text is an excellent textbook for both infectious disease professionals and for students of infectious disease epidemiology. Nelson and colleagues cover a range of essential topics from a survey of important historical epidemics to study designs for infectious disease investigations. The first part of the text covers ID epidemiology background and methodology, whereas the second focuses on specific diseases as examples of different transmission modalities. TB, HIV and Influenza are among the pathogens discussed in great detail. Chapters are written by experts in their respective fields, making this textbook not only authoritative, but also up-to-date in scope and content. Many of the authors are affiliated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health or the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. "Infectious Disease Epidemiology" is extremely readable, and serves as an excellent reference tool. I highly recommend it.

An excellent, exhaustive, tome on infectious disease. The authors provide detailed information in small, manageable bits. The down sides are the cost and the size.

When was the last time you picked up a medical textbook and had the reaction "Hey Way Cool". That is the reaction you will have to Armstrong and Cohen's practical, beautifully illustrated, readable textbook. This book straddles the media divide betwixt the standard twentieth century text and the future's 21st century media by the way it has been organized. I highly recommend this book to any interested physician.

This book is great for children and parents. There are lots of pictures, large print, and a quiz at the end of each section. This book will encourage your child to take an active role in his/her treatment.

This is an excellent resource. I am completing my cardiology fellowship, and this book/CD has quickly improved my ECG reading skills. The adage "practice makes perfect" is unfortunately not true for interpreting ECGs. If you are incorrectly reading ECGs, then you reinforce errors. This program includes about 700 ECGs in three sections, ranging from the basics of normal sinus rhythm to acute myocardial infarctions with left bundle branch blocks. You simply enter your interpretation of the ECG, and the CD checks your conclusion. It points out salient ECG features, further describes the findings, and provides hyperlinks to related ECGs in order to reinforce teaching points. "Perfect practice makes perfect." When used correctly, this tutorial reinforces the subtleties of ECGs and will enhance your clinical skills.
I recommend this book not only for cardiologists, but also for nursing students, nurses, medical students, residents, and general internists. Interactive Electrocardiography is my primary reference for studying for the ECG sections of the cardiology boards, however, it was the tutorial I needed as a medical student. I give this program five out of five stars and think it is a priceless resource for learning to read ECGs.

I read this book from cover to cover. It was writen for the neurosugeon, but with the help of a dictionary and a desire to learn I found out so much about my preoperational problem. My doctor found a Intramedullary Ependymoma at T-6 and I wanted to learn all I could. This book was a great help to me in understanding what I could expect dearing the surgery and after. I let my Doctor see it before the surgury and gave it to him after I was out of surgery and in NICU. The book is first rate with lots of pictures and examples of what these spinal cord tumors look like and how they respond to surgery. As I said it was not an easy book to read, but its very readable for the person who wants to resurch their needs or the needs of a loved one that is facing "Intramedullary Spinal Cord Surgery. Two years ago there was very little information out about this rare tumor group. This was the best book that dealt with just the spinal cord and the tumors that find themselves within. I would highly recommend it to patients and doctors. I think doctors could use this as a teachin tool for their patients and show them what they are facing. After giving my copy to my neurosurgen I wanted my own copy, because I've wanted to refer back to it so many times. It's expensive, but relize who it was writen for. Its more like a medical text book. I'm glad I read it and glad I have it in my library.

This is a serious book for the serious student of both public health and geographical information systems. Not difficult, but certainly serious. Dr. Melnick does an excellent job of introducing us to GIS and then walking us through the application of GIS to various public health areas (environmental health, communicable diseases, injuries, chronic diseases, and assessment). At each point he carefully notes the applicable principles, what the data and GIS application demonstrate, and the strengths and weaknesses of the GIS approach. This should become the standard learning tool for GIS and Health.

The book probably over references and over describes specific software programs and companies (e.g. see the discussion of Maptitude and Version 3.0 and 4.0 and HUD....) - these are outdated in 12 months.

Obviously, the book needs a CD-ROM (or web site) with data sets and the capacity to play with some of the data. The main point of the book is doing the picture and thinking about what you end up with. Without a CD-ROM or web site we are left short of really being able to get it.

In summary, despite some drawbacks this book is a winner. By the end you will not know how to do GIS, but you will know that you need to find a way to know it
