She starts with the many types of pain, covers the history of pain treatments, evaluates the biological models of pain, expands on the diagnosis of pain and a multitude of treatments. An important area she covers very well is the stress and psychology of pain. Anyone that has experienced or is experiencing chronic pain in any way would benefit from reading this book from cover to cover.

I have the great fortune to live in the same community as Drs. Hammerschlag and Silverman, so I heard them talk about this book at a recent signing. I have always believed in the power of the human spirit in health, and the power of prayer in healing. How encouraging to find two credentialed medical doctors who embrace the whole person in the healing process. These two men have great hearts, and provide the type of compassionate care I wish everyone could find from their physician, especially those facing frightening, life threatening situations.

This book contains stories and suggestions for how you can incorporate your whole being into healing not only your body, but your heart and mind and spirit, too. This is a very unique book that has some Qigong information that I haven't seen anywhere else. It focuses on combining several treatment modalities that have a synergistic effect that increases the speed and quality of the healing for many different problems. Much better than hearing about how this one thing is the very best or that one thing is the best. It's a combination of several things that work really well alone and they work even better when combined in the specific way this book talks about. This book has some incredible case histories that you just have to read for yourself. I have experienced the results on myself and can say first hand how easy, safe and effective it is.

I was not not sure what to expect when I ordered these cards. Since they were called "spirit" cards I thought that perhaps they were to be used for divination- like Tarot cards. In any case, because I have found so much of value in Dr. Weiss's books over the years I decided to try them.

What I found was that this is a deck of inspirational truths. This is the sort of wisdom that one might expect from the master spirits of the between life realm that is described in _Many Lives, Many Masters_ and other of the author's books.

A typical card of the 50 might have a statement such as "I am an immortal spiritual being" on the front, along with a colorful symbolic picture illustrating that subject. Then, on the back, would be a furthur elaboration such as, "You will not die when your body dies. A part of you goes on. You will be reunited with your loved ones because they're also immortal."

I could see using these cards as a period review of core metaphysical truths. I could also see posting individual cards around the home or office for inspiration. Who knows, perhaps they could also be used for divination if you were to concentrate on what you, or a friend, most needed to work on before drawing a card.

In any case, these are all profound lessons that most of us need to be reminded of to put into daily practice.
