An interesting book that's not just about the Baltimore fire. It's about people - how they react to an emergency, how they react when a situation gets out of hand, how they cooperate, how they refuse to cooperate. It's about politics. It's about managing in a crisis. It's about bravery, including the quiet bravery of staying on the job, where you're needed, even if where you're needed is on a freezing street corner. It's about failing to prepare for unthinkable disaster and recovering from that failure. It's about competence and incompetence, followed by finger pointing and second guessing.

The pictures alone are worth the price of the book. Imagine a fire that consumes 70 square blocks and over 1500 buildings.

What a powerful story Dr. Knepper tells of this entirely planned community originally created as an experiment in socialism. In addition to a thorough description of historical details and events, each person is so vividly painted in their full complexities as to make this a fascinating and almost breezy read.
I was captivated by this town who brought a developer's greed all the way to the Supreme Court, and the Capraesque fashion in which this community dealt with the McCarthy era witch hunt. I cannot recommend this enough as a sociology or government text book, as well as a worthy addition to any personal library.

These annual guides published by Chesapeake Bay Magazine are really nice. The guide includes a lot of detailed information about the various ports including marinas and restaurants. Also includes sections of maps for each area. The spiral binding makes the book easy to handle and use.

As with all of volumes in the Master's Techniques series, this is a beautifully illustrated "cookbook" of common procedures. A step-by-step guide through common surgical procedures of the hand with clear,concise descriptions and incredible photographs.A standard format includes surgical indications, surgical technique, and complications. Procedures are described in great detail by the "masters" with many important tips and pearls. A "must-have" for anyone who performs hand surgery, both the general orthopaedist and the hand specialist.

Provides the answers to commonly asked questions that one wouldencounter on an ortho hand rotation. My friend who is going into ahand fellowship also finds it very useful.

This book is a great source of easily accessible information - just look at the inside of the back cover (alcohol contents of drinks, unit conversion table). Has an EMERGENCY assistance checklist on the inside of the front cover. Very informative jargon-free introduction to psychotherapy of alcohol abuse and dependence. Whole chapters dedicated to the special needs of adolescents, seniors, and women.

A very nice companion to Barash's 2nd Edition "Big Book". A nice OR quick reference/primer. Also very helpful as a quick summary/review after reading a chapter in the big book.

After I got my last medical bill I thought enough is enough. So I started looking for ways that I might be able to reduce or even eliminate my need for the overly compensated medical industry. Well I found it in this book. Step by step instructions, pictures and big words make this the ideal companion for the do it yourselfer. I would recommend this book to you if you are like me and just want to get it done fast and cheap with no questions asked. I've already scheduled three of my neighbors for surgery and it won't cost them more than a case of beer or a bottle of gin. Good luck.
