This is an excellent textbook both for the practicinig dermatologist and for the resident. Very recomended.

I am a 28 year old female who lives in Australia. I have not found many books on self- Mutilation here and came across this book at our local library. I am what they label a 'Cutter', and found this book very helpful to understand why I self-harm and how to stop myself from doing it.

The book is set out in 6 chapters explaining: * What is self-Injury? * Who self-Injures and Why do they do it? * Self-Mutilation and Related Disorders * Treatment and Therapies * Helping Yourself Stop Self-Injury * Helping Someone Who self-Injures These chapters are full of detail, the most helpful to me were the last two chapters, it especially talks about how to tell friends and family about your Self-Injury, which was the hardest thing to do for me. After reading the book it made me feel like a real person again and that I have an illness that I share with many other people in the world.

The book also tells of others experiences in Self-Injury and why they came to do it. This illness can happen to all classes of people it talks of well know people like Jonny Depp and the late Princess Diana and what they went through.

I would reccommend this book to all that Self-Harm and all those family members and friends who love and want to help there loved one to overcome this. It has some very good advice on these things and expresses how support is so important, instead of ridicule and ultimatums people with these illnesses need love and understanding.

Please buy this book if you want to overcome this illness it has helped me a great deal to understand me and who I am.

The worst thing about this book is it's only 750 pages. Definitely the best vegetarian cook- book on the market. Look out for the sesame seeds! A valuable addition to any meat hater's library.

This is a very nice book to have. An author wrote about every nice places and every activities you could do within 2 hours drive around Baltimore...He also included the phone numbers and the addresses of every place he had mentioned in the book..It's also good for escaping.

Eve Elliot has a bummer of a 40th birthday party. She's separated from her straying husband of 20+ years, she's sick and tired of the dog-eat-dog world of New York City high power advertising, and the spector of middle-age has reared its ugly gray head.

So an invitation to visit her favorite, elderly aunt, in the charming waterfront Maryland community near Chesapeake Bay, sounds like the perfect anecdote to encroaching burn-out and an inevitable divorce.

Aunt Lillian runs a small Real Estate office, faltering in the past year since the death of her beloved husband, Max. Eve's drive over to view the property of curmudgeonly Ray, whose waterfront holdings include a small cove, results in a gruesome discovery. It seems the old man is busy fishing the body of a large white out of the water, obviously someone's beloved pet.

Discovering the yellow nylon rope cinched tightly around the limp body, Eve can only imagine the worst. When the old man's body turns up floating the almost the exact same spot less than 24 hours later, close knit town folk begin to mutter and gossip, comparing this to another questionable drowning, in the identical location, 25 years ago!

While Eve struggles to come to grips with her failed marriage, and takes leave from her high pressure job, she also decides to take up residence in the dead man's cottage. Her sense of ownership, she found the man's body, lead her to ruffle more than a few feathers in the Pines. The hornet's nest she stirs up may come at a high cost: her life.

A number of locals come under suspicion as Eve seeks to unravel mysteries that most would prefer to ignore. The Police Department takes the view that these deaths are accidental, and takes little action, if any, toward solving what Eve is certain are linked murders. The final showdown is graphic, exciting and ultimately satisfying.

Lee's first novel gives a good sense of place, offers several deftly created, and likeable characters, and provides a highly enjoyable, plot-driven tale that you will be hard pressed to put down. Somewhere between a cozy and more sharply etched mystery, Barbara Lee has created a heroine that will have you seeking out her two other volumes in this highly regarded series: Final Closing and Dead Man's Fingers.

This book will be an eye opener for those who put all their faith in drugs and underestimate the power of the mind and heart to heal. Dr. Miller discusses effective techniques (relaxation, guided imagery, etc.) for tapping our inner resources to bring about psychological as well as physical changes that support healing. He also explains clearly in layman's terms, the rationale behind his methods. The stories that led to the development of mind-body medicine are told with warmth and humor. This is the kind of book to read over and over again--with each reading, new insights come to mind. It has changed my approach to health and to life by giving me a sense of empowerment, by teaching me to use my mind in new and positive ways. It will probably do the same for anyone who reads it.

Easty to use, and something you will refer to over and over again.

Drs. Fong and Ross have compiled an excellent resource for patients and non-ophthalmologic clinicians. The comprehensive nature of the book and the clarity of presentation make it a must for all those who deal with diabetes! It has been shown in past research that much of the problems associated with diabetes could be avoided with appropriate identification and careful management of the disease. By helping further understanding, Drs. Fong and Ross have truly advanced efforts to reduce morbidity from diabetes.
