This book (and its companion "The Difficult Patient") are highly readable and very rewarding. As a practicing psychiatrist using it to prepare for the oral boards, I can tell you that I learned many things -- both practical tips and theoretical insights. I had originally thought these two books were "filler" by the APP to capitalize on the release of DSM-IV, but boy was I wrong! It is an absolute winner in its own right, regardless of the publisher. Thank you, Drs. Othmer, for these magnificent contributions to education in the field of psychiatry.

A handy, well-presented and exhaustive survey of the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of infectious diseases. Its algorithmic style and incredible wealth of information regarding infectious diseases, antibiotics, and the cost of diagnosis and therapy will be invaluable to any professional treating or learning to treat patients.

This text is excellent for getting information on the material taught in ENPC for nurses. The information is clearly written and highlights those issues encountered in pediatric emergency practice. Nice work.

This handbook is perfect for the second year psychiatric resident on an inpatient service, or the mental health practicum/intern student in a community mental health center. The authors review basic concepts of psychotherapy and then apply them to the individuals with serious mental illnesses seen in these settings.

As a teaching attending, I found this book to really fill the gap left by the residents' overly abstract "Introduction to Psychotherapy" course. Many interactions with patients/clients are potentially psychotherapeutic and this book gives readers numerous examples.

I can not say enough good things about this little book. It is both a very well put together overview of urology, while still being very useful to both lower and upper level residents AND medical students. It covers many of the common problems seen in urology in such a way as to be useful in day to day patient managment as well as giving a nice overview of facts that may be helpful for the urology boards. This little guy is a very easy read while at the sametime time being full of helpful info. As overviews of urology goes, this is the best book out there.

this is a great book for anyone wanting to learn the complicated structure and mechanics of the hand. I use it as a bible when making splints and to understand the mechanical changes that occur in the hand after injury. It is a great resource for hand surgeons, therapists and anyone preparing to take the CHT exam. The pictures are great along with the text. It is a difficult subject that becomes a moderate subject with the use of this book.

This is a great neuroanatomy book. The best part of the book for medical students in their clinical rotations and residents - is the clinical notes section that includes clinical presentations and many radigraphic studies as well. I bought my first copy during my first neuroanat course in 1993. I am a neurology residdent now and still refer to it frquently.

I used this book as an adjunct in my review for my Oral Board, which was excellent, the cases are organized and questions are made semilar to the formate of the Oral board in the Canadian FRCS of neurosurgery , which i passed, it gave me a comprehensive overview and a solid skeleton that i attached my special notes too.
over all for its size and user freindly and usfullness, and also its very good price, i rated as 5 stars.

This is a great book to review for boards as well as brush up your knowledge in various areas of the study of optometry/ophthalmology

I first came across this book last year when I was feverishly studying for my 4th year medical exams. What really excited me was that I could look things up in the index and actually find a paragraph or two explaining my query, no matter how obscure the reference. Textbooks like Harrisons baffle me; why would I want to spend 45 minutes looking at the ten different times my word has been mentioned when all I want to know is what it means and when its important.

Anyway I think this textbook is very well set out and thouroughly comprehensive. Obviously its not a bed-time read, but its really helpful when you're stumped by a fact in a multi-guess paper or you have some obscure fact to look up and present to your consultant.

I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars. Right now I'm waiting on the next edition....I hope it comes in soon.
