Panic Disorder, Agorophobia? Gotta Read this Book
This is a very helpful book in understaniding panic disorder with or without agorophobia. This book has been so helpful to me. Just reading it gave me so much hope. If you are suffering form this, you've don't want to miss this book!

Panic Disorder Is Not Your Fault!!!!
I really felt comfort in this book! As a 27 year old female who has had panic attacks since the age of 5, this book is a godsend. Dr. Kernoodle is a Panic Disorder expert who knows what he is talking about. Finally a book that doesn't practically say it's all in our head, and we can control these horrible, debilitating attacks just by thinking different thoughts. His studies have concluded that it is not all in our head, but in our chemical makeup! It can be a disease just like heart disease. Just like a diabetic who needs insulin, Panic disorder can be treated with medications, and behavioral therapy. I like the fact that Dr. Kernoodle makes the sufferer feel it is not the anxiety victim's fault but a real medical problem, which is usually shamefully ignored by the medical profession, because it is a mental disorder. I wish Dr. Kernoodle lived in my area, so I could get the care I have been waiting for all my life.

Panic disorder explained--without the jargon
If you have panic disorder (or know someone who does), you must read this book! Without using complex medical jargon, Kernodle gives the most up-to-date explanation of the physiology of panic disorder. Drawing on numerous research studies, journal articles and his experiences in private practice, Kernodle explains current theories on the causes of panic disorder.

The most helpful aspect of Kernodle's book is the clear discussion of various treatments for this complex disorder. Each medication is carefully outlined, from recommended dosages to possible side effects. Kernodle also includes a variety of case studies from his own practice.

This book helped me understand a condition that has overwhelmed my life for many years. With the wealth of information I have learned just from this one book, I am confidently able to discuss my recovery plan with health professionals.

Pathology explained for dummies
I am a biologist, and found this book very intelligible and easy.

Great Overall Text
This text provided the subject of Pathology in a clear and concise way without over simpifying the subject. The color photos provided a more hands-on feel, and stressed the important points. The questions at the end of the chapter were a good review of the key points.

Great Overall Text
This text is a clear, concise guide to Pathology for those in the Health Related Fields. As a Pharmacy student, I felt that it provided me with just the right amount of depth without over-simplifying the subjects. It provided clear color photos to emphasize the important points.

Would give it 6 stars if I could!
There was a lot of material in the books in this series, yet I found myself getting through them quickly and retaining a lot of the information, I think because the material is so well presented and explained. Great cases and the format is tailor-made for current USMLE format. This author really understand what the board question writers are into. For me, this type of review was the best way for me to get ready for Step 1.

Excellent pathology review source
After studying like crazy for a full month for the USMLE, I needed a break from reading textbooks. I decided to check out this case-based review because a friend recommended it. I am still thanking him for this recommendation. This book and the other books in the series really prepare you well for the USMLE, because they get you used to the long clinical vignettes that made up most of my exam. The cases and explanantions are EXTREMELY high-yield and very concise but thorough. I recommend the whole series for anyone who wants to do well on the Step 1 exam.

Fantastic!
This is wonderful review books. Excellent writing and informacion. Great pictures and examples. I do much, much better on exam from this books.

Very useful reference work, even for non-peds and non-cards
In concise and clear language, Prof. Park explains how a
medical practitioner can diagnose alsmost any known
cardiac anomaly in a child.

Having a scientific but no medical background myself,
I found it very readable. Some knowledge of cardiac
anatomy and electrocardiography are a prerequisite.

What is especially good is Prof. Parks comprehensive
approach to the diagnosis: all posible pathologies are
listed and when a particular observation
is possible in normal patients, he doesn't forget to point
this out too.

I have only read the 2nd edition of the book (1988), so
I cannot vouch whether the latest (4th) is up to date
on recent advances in the field, be it in pacemaking
capabilities or teratogenic discoveries.

an excellent concise book on paed cardiology
this book was very helpful for me during my post graduate studies in paediatrics and i feel that every post graduate resident in paediatrics should have this book.the author has used simple language and written and covered this subject well
covering the recent advances in the topic as well.highly recommended.

Pediatric Cardiology made simple and understandable
As a resident in pediatrics, you face the usual time constraints, yet you want to prepare yourselfs for electives by reading a comprehensible text. For Cardiology, I have found with Park's "Pediatric Cardiology for the Practioner" an outstanding text, which I actually prefer over more recent review articles for its easy to understand approach. The text is easy to read and is supported by the style of the figures and schemes. This book provides more than an introductory text for the pediatric resident with a general focus, it also provides a valuable and readily accessible resource for cardiology fellows.

Phantom Illness: Recognizing, Understanding, and Overcoming Hypochondria
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (20 August, 1997)
Authors: Carla Cantor, Brian, Md Fallon, and Brian A. Fallon
Amazon base price: $15.00
Used price: $82.00
Carla Cantor's long, dark road to hypochondria began when she crashed a car she was driving, killing a friend of hers. She couldn't forgive herself, and a few years later began imagining that she was suffering from lupus. Many years and two hospitalizations later, she wrote this book not only about her experiences, but about hypochondria in general (now more politely referred to as a "somatoform disorder"). No matter what one chooses to call them, psychosomatic disorders--imagined illnesses--present a huge burden to medical systems, and only by taking them seriously can we hope to alleviate their costs. By putting a human face on this often laughed-at syndrome, and by showing ways out of it, Cantor provides a great service not only to "somatizers" and their loved ones, but to the entire healthcare system.

Putting my fears into perspective
I could hear my own words from many of the stories that were told. I feel I'm not alone and think this will really help, along with therapy and medication. Truly this book is a great help!

Helped me a LOT!
I've allways had a lot of anxiety about my health, and lately it has gotten worse. This book helped me see that I am not alone. I recognized myself in a lot of the case studies. It has really inspired me to get treatment for my problem. I was also glad to see that she addressed the stigma hypochondria has in our society.

A book of knowledge
I start reading this book a few months ago mainly out of curiosity about hypochondria, but also because I had always being a worrier about my health and my friends were always calling me a hypochondriac. However, I never knew something really about this mental situation. It was time to start learning a few things about it so I picked the book and started my journey. Now that the journey is over I may say that the book is a real source of knowledge, encouragement and support. For those of us (and I know that there are many out there!) that have experienced hypochondria even if it was transient this book definetely gives some answers to questions that we are afraid to ask. A big thank you to the authors !

holy cow!
HOLY COW! I just came upon this book in the rehab section and had to get it. I've struggled through Braddom for three years now, and wish I'd had this little handbook. There's as much info packed in here as in Braddom, minus the fluff. This is about as much bang as you're going to get for the buck. GET IT!

A must have , gold medal book!
Physical Therapists and other rehab practicianers should buy this informative and well researched book. The book outlines and explains clinical evaluations, diagnostic tests, therapeutic measures, and various basis rehab problems. As a physical therapist practicing in an interdisciplinary setting, I find Dr. Tan's book extremely helpful in facilitating understanding and communication with other members of the rehab team. Dr. Tan, a physiatrist, physical therapist, researcher and teacher, deserves the gold for writing this outstanding interdisciplinary book. This book is a must-have for all therapists and rehab practitioners!

The best book of its kind; I highly recommend it!
Dr Tan's book sets a new standard of excellence in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The text is comprehensive, well-organized, concise, up-to date and practical. I find myself referring to it frequently in my daily clinical practice (especially the excellent chapter on pharmacology). I wish the book was available when I was a resident and when I was reviewing for the boards. The appendices which include plates of normal x-rays and MRI films (all clearly labeled), as well as a comprehensive updated addresses and phone numbers of important PM&R resources, are invaluable. At a popular price of 36.95, it is not only the best book of its kind, but the best buy of all time. I highly recommend it!

A great office reference book..
As an internist starting out, I found this book invaluable to my patient practice. It is well organized and concise. It gives detailed and well illustrated instructions on the various procedures. It is divided into :
**Dermatology procedures (suture selection, bx, skin lesions, nail, abscess, acne, keloids, cryo etc)
**Anesthesia (local, topical, peripheral nerve blocks, trigger points)
**ENT
**Cardiovascular/REspiratory (art line, central line, Swan Ganz, intubation, pacing, PFT etc.)

**Urology (catherization
**Gyn
**OB
**pediatrics
**GI
**ortho (splinting, cast, dislocations, joint injections)
**Misc (abx prophylaxis, informed concent, LP etc)

Each procedure section is further broken down into clinical indications, contrditions, equipment needed, procedure process, tecnique, complication and CPT/billing code. It is a comprehensive book that contains more than you need to know--which is always good. Well worth the expense.

A must have for providers of family or adult primary care
Illustrations are the pinnacle of the book. It is well organized and the procedures are clearly spelled out in a step-wise manner.

Concise explinations, drawing, addresses, and billing codes!
This is a great book to boost your office procedure skills and cut down on referrals for minor procedures. I found the book helpful with short and concise explinations, diagrams, and addresses of manufactures of products medtioned. The billing codes are also helpful when training billing staff. Very comprehensive and well worth the cost!

These are the best recipes
I normally don't write reviews at all, but this book certainly deserves one. The highlights:

* It doesn't consists of all these sweet recipes but has great tasting alternatives (I could never get into all that sweet stuff); there are no dates, bananas, etc., and there are some good explanations as to why
* The recipes don't require a lot of strange ingredients of which I never even heard before; ingredients are easily found
* You don't have to plan days ahead of time to just produce one dish; a lot of it can be put together quickly
* It does have its share of nuts, but for some reason I don't resent that here as I did in most of my other books; they don't seem to be everywhere
* There are NO wheat recipes (yeah!); I'm terribly allergic to that... Instead there are lots of recipes with flax seeds, and there is a very good explanation as to why wheat/grains are not used.

I ordered two other books at the same time I got this one and I already owned two raw food books, but this one is the only one I use. The recipes appeal to me much more than the ones in the other books. There still are tools that are necessary for the raw food kitchen, like a dehydrator, juicer, high-speed blender, etc., but there is a section in the beginning that outlines which ones they recommend.

The Quintessesntial Raw Book - You Must Have It!!!
My husband and I are transitioning to raw foods. We have ordered several books, only to find the unlimate source for raw food receipes in this book. Unbelievably tasty and ranging from easy to prepare to somewhat complicated, this book is our new cookbook staple in the kitchen. Not only does Dr. Cousens explain his reasoning carefully and in depth, but he goes on to suggest ways besides food to create the best life you can have. He isn't just promoting his own work, either, but incorporates the latest work of Dr. Young and others who came before, like Bechamp. If you want the BEST recipes, tasty, wholesome and satisfying, do not miss out on Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine.

The book all Raw Foodist should have.
This book takes a lot of the complexity, days of foresight, and ingredients most kitchens don't have out of the confusion of a delicious raw food kitchen. I worked for a week at the tree of life and used this book as the guide to all our recipes. I found it a simple lay out to a delicious raw food daily eating regime. It has excellent recipes using more simple means and ingredients then I found in most raw cook books (and I own them all). This is the one to have if you want the simplicity in eating, along with a good meal, rather then another plain and simple salad. We often alter the ingredients if we did not have something on hand and always did a wonderful job. An easy to use, exceptional cookbook.
