The absolute definitive collection of his work.
M.C. Escher was a true genius. This book has every print he has ever done. Along with a comprehensive history and a lot of his writings, this book gives you the best insight to a mathematical genius who barely passed math in school.

This is the definitive catalogue of Escher's prints.
Illustrated are 448 (of the 449) original woodcuts, wood engravings, lithographs, linocuts and mezzotints by Maurits Cornelis Escher. An attractive volume, it virtually constitutes a catalogue raisonne. Each print is illustrated in minimum quarter-page format, with size, medium and date provided. Introductory chapters provide biographical and autobiographical information. In addition, the only book that the artist wrote, REGELMATIGE VLAKVERDELING (THE REGULAR DIVISION OF THE PLANE), which was published in 1957 in a very limited edition by a Dutch bibliophile society, is translated and illustrated in full. As owner of and dealer in the main body of Escher's original prints, drawings and watercolors, which were previously on loan to the Hague Museum, I make extensive use of this book and commend it to all. Published by Abradale at less than half the price of the out-of-print Abrams edition, but identical to it except for a different dust jacket, it provides good value, and is certainly less expensive than the signed original prints themselves, which cost more than ten thousand dollars each.

The other key books on Escher are VISIONS OF SYMMETRY; THE MAGIC MIRROR OF M.C. ESCHER; and THE GRAPHIC WORK OF M.C. ESCHER.

Trip out
This is by far my favorite artist. My Geomentry teacher would show these pictures in class and it was the only time I would pay attention. It's like being on drugs without ever taking drugs.
It will make your mind expand into a new realm. Trust me.

Wonderful!
This book is so beautiful and I am so fortunate to have found a copy of it! Ms. Ellison has captured the true feelings of Romeo and Juliet with her pictures! From the very tips of the dancers fingers to their eyelashes you truly believe that they ARE Romeo and Juliet, from their first meeting to the scene in the tomb. By the time you finish reading you are completely swept away to a world where true love is so beautiful and so inviting, you cry. Ms. Herrera and Mr. Corella are two of my favorite dancers and they fit the part perfectly! Ms. Ellison used the natural light given to illuminate the dancers and give an extra sense of feeling to the story. To everyone who buys this book take it to your heart and believe that anything is possible.

The World of Dance with Francis Mason
Fans of American Ballet Theatre will want to know about the new book ROMEO & JULIET: The Love Story in Dance. The photographer Nancy Ellison had the inspired idea of giving us in a picture book a photo narrative of the Romeo and Juliet story in Verona where it originally took place. The Romeo and Juliet are Angel Corella and Paloma Herrera who have appreared in the Macmillan Ballet about the tragic lovers. The photos are accompanied by Shakespeare's words. I never imagined it would be possible to find in Verona a balcony like Juliet's and other places that in these marvelous photographs frame the action of the tragedy. Looking at the great Staircase of Reason in Verona's public square where so much of the struggle between the Capulets and the Montagues took place, and seeing Romeo and Juliet dancing on a terrace in a real garden bring home the tragedy. For lovers of the ballet this Christmas, particularly young lovers of the ballet, there couldn't be a better book.

Bellissima!
I love this book, the whole idea of it - from the wonderful photographs to the amazing ballet dancers. I have looked at it many times and every time at a different level. First, the photos and the wonderful shots of Verona, second for the ballet dancers and then third for the writing. When books seem to be priced into the stratosphere, this little gem is a bargain and a great gift for the holidays for young and old.

The best speech path book
this book is an excellent resource for aspiring speech language pathologists.....it provides great charts in a convenient ring binder.....

Invaluable Resource for Speech-Language Pathologists!
I am an SLP and work in a hospital setting and have found this to be an invaluable resource while working with clients of all ages. It takes what you've learned as a grad student and sums it all up into a useful resource that you'll use over and over again.

Wonderful resource for assessing clients of all ages!
I use this as a text in my Diagnostic Procedures Class which I teach at So. Il. Univ. @ Edwardsville. This book has tables, norms, and forms for diagnostics in a variety of areas. I wish I had this book at my disposable when I was doing work as a staff therapist. It takes the best diagnostic information from a variety of texts and puts it in one book!

Relatively Good
This short book explains you what the theory of relativity (restrict) is. People who are curious about that, but unable to read Math, will find that in this book.

There are a number of fun stories about the great cientists. which makes it a very attractive book.

You won't find a good explanation for the General Theory of Relativity. In addition, Einstein's biography is not deep, but it is still interesting.

There is also short biographies of the cientists as well as detailed references about where to find formal explanations on the subjects treated in the book.

It is worth.

Great Book
Even if you are reasonably familiar with the backgrounds of the men and women who discovered Physics, you will find new and interesting facts about them which you did not know and which you will find facinating.

Great science biography
Fantastic idea to present a history of the mystical equation by looking at the key discoveries around each parameter.

Will be extremely interesting to historians, students of science and/or any Einstein fans.

I very much appreciated Bodanis' personal perception of the personalities of key scientists (eg how Newton's religious belief convinced him that energy could be lost as this proved that there was a god).

The book provides stories ranging from the discovery that the speed of light is finite through to the contribution of the equation to the second world war.

Get Rich Slow

I've referred back to this book over and over since 1990.
This is the greatest gift you can ever give to anyone you know who is just starting out in the world of handling their own finances, as well as someone you know who is already 'in the game'. Make sure all of your young loved ones get this BEFORE the college credit card offers start swarming them in their Freshman year! I wish the author, Tama McAleese, would read this to hear my thanks and my plea for another 'Get Rich Slow' that includes what to do with all of these new things that have popped up like 529 plans, Education IRA's, new IRA contribution amounts, new tax laws, etc. Her foundations are timeless, but I would still love to hear what she has to say about the new trends.

get rich slow
this book is a MUST READ. I am a financial planner and still find this book to be the most useful book on the market. It contains timeless concepts not the latest get rich quick schemes. If you buy a financial book buy this one.

My personal financial bible!
I have been reading this book for guidance in my financial planning, much like one reads a bible over and over for staying on track in life. It has been a great source for avoiding the pitfalls of finance that have been eating us all alive. I often find myself going back to certain chapters when I need to fine tune my planning and when I have gone through an 'expansion' phase and need to keep from getting into a 'recession' phase. I hope there will be a millenium version to cover new trends as the one covering Roth IRA's did.

Wynken, Blynken, & Nod is an enchanting, magical tale
that is as captivating as it is beautiful. It's a wonderful bedtime tradition, for both children and parents. This amazing poem is a timeless classic; there's always something new to discover from the entrancing journey of our trio of fishermen! It's perfect for people of all ages. Come along, and bring somebody you love on the voyage on Wynken, Blynken, and Nod; you won't regret it!

A Classic Must Have for Every Child
I was not introduced to this poem until I was 18. We were performing it in concert as a part of Midge of Gold which is a collection of children's tales set to music. I fell in love with it and when I found out it was an actual book, it became one of the first gifts I give to parents and children. The melody is one that stays with me and it's a great lulaby. This book is worth more than what you will pay for it. I have not met one person who read it as a child and didn't love it. The poem and illustrations are wonderful. Buying this book for your child, or any child, is a great investment.

An incredible and beautiful book, always to be remembered
This is a book that my father grew up on, and after having kids of his own, read it to us. As we grew up, this book had somehow disappered, and, having missed it so much, set upon looking for it on the internet. This is a beutiful children story, but not only for children... Don't miss it!

Richie rediscovered
I am Richie's cousin, a year or so younger; we were close in the early teen years, going to the same youth club dances and to pubs along Liverpool's dock road where Richie knew they allowed underage drinking in the backroom. We had fun; even took girls on dates to Formby beach together (still got the photos!), and I had absolutely no idea what Richie's real life was like. But Richie was charismatic and it was always great to be with him.

About 35 years later I recognised his voice instantly on a BBC radio interview and I got back in touch. I read his books and, as the university literature expert I'd since become, I recognised the brilliance of his literary talent. More than that, I recognised the integrity of his writing which exactly matched the integrity of the personality I began to rediscover. Richie had been a rentboy, but he transformed that experience not just into literature, but in his own daily life. He became a counsellor, and co-founded a charity to support others caught up in the underworld of male prostitution. But more than that, even as he was dying with HIV-Aids, he oozed love, compassion and saintliness in the most disarming, unassuming and matter-of-fact way imaginable. If there are saints, he was one even if he didn't know it: those who loved him did. And those who read him will share in the abundant love he had, in the wonderful way he had of ennobling and dignifying the human condition, however sordid it might have seemed at first blush. Read his books;do yourself - literally - a favour.

Emotionally Gripping!
Richie McMullen has so expertly employed the English Language to draw his readers into his struggle for survival as a 15-year-old London rent boy. Once I got started reading I was so drawn in that I almost believed that I was there with him observing first hand as a friend of his. I felt the love, the deep friendships, the fears, the frustrations, the hatred and the soul-searching that Richie experienced and it tore my heart apart. But, I glowed with elation as I read the last words and concluded it was all worth it.

This will be the first book I have ever read twice! In fact, I feel compelled to try to contact Richie directly to express my admiration. VERY good reading! Highly recommended!

INTRO HEALTH CARE ECON MC
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Education - Europe (01 November, 1995)
Author: SANTERRE

Average review score:

A Superior Text
This exceptional college level text applies economic theory to every aspect of the healthcare field. The authors' profound and insightful conclusions are drawn from real world examples that allow physicians, healthcare consultants, HMO managers, government officials and yes, interested students, to comprehend the implications of healthcare issues from an organizational and governmental perspective. Additionally, the authors' conclusions are applicable when analyzing the American macro economy in which 14% of GDP originates in the healthcare field. A more astute microeconomics text does not exist!

Absolutely and Unequivocally!
After several years of business school, I can sincerely attest to the usefulness of this text. By concisely analyzing and interpreting the challenging material, Santerre and Neun transform Health Economics into a universally interpretable language. Importantly, the plethora of insights and empirical studies enhance each chapter. Also, this powerful text negates the need for course enhancing supplementary readings. This is one of very few texts that is worth its weight in gold!

Recovery from Panic Disorder: A Therapist's Transformation as Both Patient and Healer
Published in Paperback by Amer Book Pub (24 January, 2004)
Author: Eileen Mc Phillips Portner
Amazon base price: $17.95
Collectible price: $19.01

A Book of Strenth and Hope to All
Recovery from Panic Disorder gives strength to all those who struggle to get from point A to B in their daily lives. Daily activities such as carpool, school, pets, driving and friendships can be interrupted by the crashing waves of panic. Those with panic disorder know how difficult it can be to accomplish and even function on a day-to-day level. Eileen McPhillips Portner, therapist and the author of RFPD, knows all too well what it feels like to be hit by this mentally debilitating disorder and has written a book from the point of view of both patient and healer.

Unlike other books written by therapists, Recovery from Panic Disorder is user-friendly and an easy read. This book speaks to you as a friend, giving you the knowledge and comfort and tools that you need to take the steps to recovery. Through personal stories and real life examples, Eileen McPhillips Portner bridges the clinical distance that is felt between therapist and patient, and her book creates an emotional bond between reader and author by beginning with the author's own experience with panic disorder.

Recovery from Panic Disorder offers the realistic hope of recovery for the many people who suffer from overwhelming, frightening panic disorder. It also offers practical and useful advice for those who suffer from general controversy and stress resulting from everyday life.

Must Read for Panic Disorder Sufferers
Recovery from Panic Disorder: A Therapist's Transformation as both Patient and Healer by Eileen McPhillips Portner is unique in that it covers a disease that afflicts thousands of people, but approaches it from the viewpoint of a sufferer and a therapist. Having family members and friends who suffer from this terrifying and debilitating disease, I know how important it is to have all the critical information on handling the disease that Ms. Portner imparts in her book. Her approach of using techniques that are both traditional and holistic makes this an excellent resource for both patients and therapists.

This book is written with compassion and humor that comes across through her very personal anecdotes. I especially liked the chapter written by her husband, as it emphasizes how everyone in a family is deeply affected by the family member with Panic Disorder.

I highly recommend that therapists who treat this disease read this book. It will make them better and more empathetic counselers.

This book gives all the aides you need to get through your panic attacks, but does it in such a warm, comforting way, that you know you're not alone and there is help out there.

Recovery from Panic Disorder by Eileen McPhillips
Recovery from Panic Disorder presents a vivid and candid
first-hand account of the hell one can live through when experiencing Panic Disorder. To the author's credit is the masterful way in which she engineered her own recovery and return to normalcy in her marriage and the successful continuation of her career. I'd recommend this book as a must read for anyone who suffers with Panic Disorder.
