Bringing Abundance into your consciousness
Abundance is a broader concept than just material wealth. The word itself is not limited to the connotations asociated with the words money, or fortune. It encompasses things like health, loving relationships, tranquil mental states and, of course, wealth. Shri Anandi Ma and Dileepji provide a powerful way to invite abundance into our homes with ancient mantras. Playing them in a quiet place with a candle and incense imbues the home with a divine radiance. If you're into meditation and the subtle power of sound you will love this CD.

Very Soothing Music
I found this CD very soothing, and the chanting voices very pleasant to listen to. I noticed that I felt more settled and less anxious after listening for just one evening, more in touch with my true self. There is something feminine and nurturing about its sound.

I really believe in the power of mantras to positively effect our lives. Other CD's that are good for this are Sri Siva's Sounds for Karma Busting, and Sounds for Manifesting.

Powerful healer
I was going through a period of my life where I was very frightened. I played the CD various times and I have felt an incredible tranquility. I highly recommend this as a powerful healing tool.

Winters Renders al-Ghazali Perfectly
I have read numerous translations of books from the Ihya and was absolutely amazed and pleased to come across TJ Winters English rendition of this classical work of Islamic philosophy. It is not easy endeavor to bring forth the essence of al-Ghazali's Arabic style into the European languages. But, this books has done it! Really protrays the message, tone, and intention of al-Ghazali for the English reader. A must have for all those interested in philosophy, especially Islam.

Timeless Spiritual Reading
Imam Ghazzali (Algazel) wrote this book hundreds of years ago, but the morays and virtues expressed in this text provide guidance that is much needed today. Read this book and you will find out why some regard this man as one of the greatest scholars of Islam, and his works on spirituality affected the Western world so immensely.

Excellent translation of a great book from a great mind
Ghazali is a master. Anyone who has read any of his works can appreciate the depth of his vision. This transalation does great justice to this particular chapter of his great work - the Iyha. Good translations of Ghazali's works are hard to find. This is an excellent translation and a remarkable find. Lucky is the reader who can find a copy. A sobering view of death and how the remembrance of death is something to be valued, not to be turned away from. Overall, very highly recommended.

Ian Myles Slater on: Identifying the Text
Prospective readers of this work may wish to know that it has a descriptive subtitle -- "An Introduction to the Nature of One's Own Mind from *The Profound Teaching of Self-Liberation in the Primordial State of the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities* A terma text of Guru Padmasambhava expounding the view of Dzogchen, rediscovered by Rigdzin Karma Lingpa." In other words, it offers itself as a "postponed revelation," a terma (treasure) re-discovered and offered to the world centuries after its composition. As such it is part of a large class of Tibetan Buddhist works.

The text had previously been translated into English at the instigation of W.Y. Evans-Wentz, who published that version in "The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation" which appeared in 1954 as the last of four volumes in the "Oxford Tibetan Series." It there followed an abridged translation of one of the traditional biographies of Padmasambhava, the legendary "Apostle to the Tibetans," and one of their patron Bodhisattvas, who is regarded as the author of this and other works. These texts were surrounded by commentaries by Evans-Wentz and C.G. Jung. The latter is probably important for students of Jung. Evans-Wentz's contributions generally reflect a lack of information about esoteric Buddhism, and a tendency to substitute material from Hindu and Theosophical sources.

Having compared the present translation (pages 9-28) with that offered by Evans-Wentz, I can say that it appears to be superior in clarity. Given the present, far more advanced state of Tibetan studies, it is certainly more likely to be accurate than the ad-hoc attempt provided by Evans-Wentz's translators. Additional features include the Tibetan text in transliteration, a glossary of Tibetan Buddhist terms, and an extended commentary. This is undoubtedly an advance on Evans-Wentz, although its devotional tone may seem cloying to some readers (including this one)

There are also extended discussions of the Evans-Wentz and Jung interpretations. The dismissal of Jung is particularly interesting; although I don't much care for Jung myself, I felt that he was not being given sufficient credit for trying to take Asian traditions as seriously as he took those closer to home. (Of course, given Jung's reductionist approach to religion, this may amount to 0 = 0.)

An answer for the restless mind
I discovered that upon reading this text, a part of my mind which was always seeking to understand this life had finally been satisfied! I do not consider myself a practicioner of buddhism, much less an expert, and yet what it had to say was clear and persuasive.(...)

Self-Liberation: Through Seeing with Naked Awareness
The only thing to add would be that this is a new addition of previously published "Self-Liberation: Through Seeing with Naked Awareness". The work itself is a terma(treasure teaching) of Guru Padmasambhava discovered by master Karma Lingpa. Personally, I found this book of a great value for the reason of a very lucid INSTRUCTION rather than just theory, which is sufficiently expounded, too. It gives a clear explanation as to why and how the principle of a spiritual teaching can be misunderstood and points out directly on the right method of application of this knowledge. I would recommend this book to everybody!

A WORLD CLASS MARKETING IDEA
MY WIFE AND I WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE HAD THE UNLISTED RESERVATION NUMBER AND ENJOYED THE WONDERFUL FOOD AND AMBIANCE OF MA MAISON.

THE FACT THAT THE RESERVATION NUMBER WAS UNLISTED AND THE STARS WERE THE INVESTORS AND PATRONS MAKES THIS ONE OF THE GREATEST MARKETING STORIES EVER AS WELL AS AFFORDING THE READER AN INSIGHT INTO THE HOLLYWOOD OF THE TIME.

WILLIAM REITER, TELLURIDE COLORADO

A restaurateur's outlook
Ihave rarely read a story of a restaurant that enthralled me from the beginning to the end. It was sincere, happy and sad. I learned a great deal of lessons both in management and in cooking from the great recipes. I recommend this book to all persons who enjoy dining out,so they can better undertand what it takes to run a restaurant.

A Taste of Hollywood
It was fun seeing the restaurant scene in Hollywood in the 70 and 80, as well as seeing the wonderful picture asnd recipes. I enjoyed seeing where Wolfgang Puck and many other chefs got their start. An easy read and fun holiday gift.

The best workshop!
Shery has outdone herself with this book! I took the workshop on line and am a proud contributor to the book as well. Any writer at any stage will enjoy each of the 52 weeks' worth of prompts and story ideas! The best part is being able to do any of the exercises at your own convenience.

I must say this book has brought out memories in me that I didn't remember I had! Most were good but it also helped me get some of the bad out and down on paper, which made them so much easier to deal with. I am proud to be a part of this, and I know you will be too!

You'll never have a bad experience working with this book. It is definitely one of the best writing books I have worked with and I know it's going to go far with writers all over the world. Enjoy it!

Looking for some freshness?
I took the workshop where this book was based on. I must say: this was one of the most inspired things I've ever done.
Writing was fun again.

Wow, Shery never continues to surprise!
I am a loyal reader/user of Shery's materials for writers. She never ceases to find new ways to open up the creative mind I never knew I had. This book is basically packed with one year worth of writing pleasures! If you're a new writer looking for learning and fun writing projects, this book is for you. If you're an experienced writer looking for self-actualizing writing projects, this book is for you. Or, if you're like I used to be, a nonwriter, this book can help you learn to find the joys of writing and self-discovery.

Ma~nana En La Batalla Piensa En Mi
Published in Paperback by Anagrama (October, 1996)
Author: Javier Marias
Amazon base price: $42.40
Average review score:

Me faltan estrellas

One of the best books I've ever read
I have read four novels by Marías so far, all of them are great, but this one is the best by far. I wouldn't call it a "mystery/thriller", it is a novel about decisions one's takes and it's implications, about unevitable things and about death. The technique is impressive, recurring phrases that seem trivial at first and make more sense every time they are mentioned. Shakespeare's quotes applied to the situations. If you would read only one book by Marías, read this one.

Magnificent book by one of the best current Spanish writers
The book is a magnificent piece of literature, an outstanding sample of the combination of styles and rhythms that makes of Marias one of the best current Spanish writers. Although frequently criticised in Spanish literary cliques, the very particular sense of humour and recurring style of Marias is captivating. Having a kind of film noir story background, Marias creates a set of curiously charming characters that develop through a catching story line. Special mention to a superb scene that features the king of Spain, Juan Carlos I, unfortunately not at the reach of non-Spaniard readers. Do not miss it, especially if you can read the original Spanish prose.

Essential resource
Natural Landscaping is an essential resource for anyone interested in landscaping with native plants. The importance of learning to use native plants is so important as we face continuing droughts in various parts of the country, including here in Williamsburg, VA. The book is so full of information that I find myself going back to it often. Many thanks to the authors for this fine volume.

Cogent, authoritative advice on how to restore wetlands
Now in an updated and expanded second edition, Natural Landscaping: Designing With Native Plant Communities by licensed architect and landscaping authority John Diekelmann and natural plan restoration expert Robert Schuster is a fascinating, "user friendly" instructional guide on basic landscaping principles, as well as cogent, authoritative advice on how to restore wetlands and introduce native plant species for wetlands, grasslands, forests, and more. Black-and-white photographs as well as an inset section of color plates wonderfully illustrate this meticulous, fact-filled, professional quality, highly recommended "how-to" guide for anyone aspiring to enhance or restore native plant communities.

This is a wonderful resource
I have the 1982 edition of this book - I stumbled across it and have been amazed ever since that such a book was written in 1982 before this approach to gardening/landscaping was popular.
It is tailored to the midwest, but the technical solidity and sound design concepts should apply anywhere.

Saipan: Oral Histories of the Pacific War
Published in Hardcover by McFarland & Company (October, 2001)
Author: Bruce M. Petty
Amazon base price: $55.00
Used price: $37.00
Average review score:

History comes alive
I found this book to be a very good read. I was born in 1960 and am not a WWII fanatic yet I still found this book very hard to put down. I think that part of the reason it's such a compelling book is because of the fact that the events are told to the reader by the actual people who lived them. That alone makes it a much more personal history. Any loose ends or questions that I had from reading the personal accounts were cleared up by the researcher's (author's) facts in the margin almost as soon as they posed themselves. With the pictures and maps included it leaves very few questions as to the events that took place on Saipan during WWII. It is an excellent historical reference.

Outstanding with Wonderful Personal Touch
I've always had an interest in the Pacific front and I find this book a wonderful edition to the previous books I have read. What I really like is the way the author brings in the personal stories. You can tell that Bruce Petty is a compassionate person who cares about the subject AND the people he writes about. I hope to see more work by this author and will definitely buy his next book.

War, up close and personal
Bruce Petty does a wonderful job of drawing people out and letting them tell their own stories about the battle of Saipan, which was one of the fiercest in World War II's Pacific Theatre. The narrators include both residents of Saipan whose peaceful existence was shattered by the war and American military men who came away from the fighting changed forever. All the survivors seem well aware that only blind luck separates them from those who perished. This book is a timely reminder that even a just war is truly Hell.

A VERY GOOD COOKBOOK!
I liked this book. It had a lot of good recipes in it and when you make the recipes they are GOOD!

A Great Taste of New England
Of all the cookbooks that my wife and I have, this is the one that we treasure most. Filled with traditional and non-traditional New England recipes that make your mouth water by just reading them. I strongly encourage everyone to purchase this cookbook first and then you will have something to compare all other cookbooks with. I especially like the Macaroni and Cheese!

an excellent collection of a communities favorite recipes
Since life (in rural Vermont anyway) seems to revolve around seasonal events, this cookbook was perfectly arranged for me. The recipes are grouped by month with each month represented by a type of food. For instance July is berries, August is the garden harvest, November is apples and pumpkins. This makes finding an appropriate recipe easy. A must try recipe is the Applesauce Raisin Cake. It is truly delicious! From the lovely cover, the interesting photographs of Ashfield MA, the weather statistics, the tidbits of information about the town, to the terrific down-home recipes, this book is a wonderful addition to my cookbook collection.
