Rand McNally Boston Ma Easyfinder Plus Map (Easyfinder Plus Map)
Published in Paperback by Rand McNally & Co (July, 1997)

Clear, useful, detailed and durable map
This detailed, clear map is practically indispensable for navigating in Boston, whether on foot or by car. The laminated format makes it not only very durable, even after much use, but easily folded to show the segment of the city one needs. The detail is really excellent, showing many things including large and small streets, parkway access roads, points of interest, surrounding communities, Logan airport, etc. The map's clarity is much enhanced by the use of well-chosen color. It would be helpful if the names of Boston's many squares were regularly included, as these seem to be a prominent feature of navigation in Boston, and if possible, to indicate more of the one-way directions of streets. All in all, I find this an extremely useful and well-made map, highly recommended for navigation in a complicated but fascinating city.

You'll cherish this one.
I've grown up around Serendipity books, and this is one of my favorites. The artwork, as always, is exceptional, and the story teaches a lesson to both children and parents. A young goat wanders off when he feels neglected and finds himself in a heap of trouble!

Rethinking Ethnicity and Health Care: A Sociocultural Perspective
Published in Paperback by Charles C Thomas Pub Ltd (July, 1999)
Authors: Grace Xueqin Ma and George Henderson
Amazon base price: $53.95

Exceptional in content and detail.
Rethinking Ethnicity and Health Care is a "must read" book on the complex subject of health care in the rapidly growing and evolving Hispanic, Asian American, African American, and Native American communities in the U.S. It sets a theoretical basis for discussion of this multidimensional topic, and provides the lay reader, service provider, and researcher with culturally sensitive and competent approaches and solutions to, and insights into the unique problems faced by these communities. Besides its didactic underpinnings, the book is enjoyable reading. I recommend it highly.

Schulz and Peanuts just get better and better!
While scrolling through the list of Peanuts books available through Amazon.com, I couldn't help but notice that NONE of these wonderful books has yet received any customer reviews. So let me be the first -- you will NOT regret buying a Peanuts book by Charles M. Schulz! In fact, my personal observation about Mr. Schulz is that his newer strips are even better than the older "classics"! This is a genuinely gifted person. Show your love and respect for "good ol' Charlie Brown" -- buy as many Peanuts books from Amazon.com as you can possibly afford! Your descendants will be profoundly grateful -- and you'll have lots of fun (re)reading them yourself!

Captivating...
I grew up in this town many years ago. I found the book interesting and hard to put down. The old names I remember hearing about (Lyman, Pomeroy, Clark, Frary and Searle) became a little more real to me. Looking at the old homes and trying to remember them as a kid is fun. It would be a great book to have on hand while driving through town. Thank you, it is a wonderful work.

Good for the time
I wrote this book (the portion to 1700) so I'm biased. More recent archive research would add to, although not change, the treatment.

Also, it's still in print.

A fun and wild ride
Okay, I'll admit that I watched the movie before I read the comic book. However, even though "Storm Riders" is one of the most awesome movies I've ever seen, the book, of course, is better. I'm not a big fan of this style of art, but I quickly got used to it. It's definitely not the slick and commercialized sort of art that a lot of the big companies produce. It seems more esoteric, flowing, raw, and especially well suited to the sort of universe presented in "Storm Riders."

As a big fan of wuxia/kung fu fiction and movies, I instantly fell in love with the story and the characters. I'm not sure what someone who wasn't familiar with the style would think, but even if you aren't, check it out anyway. The characters are solid, the action is well-depicted, and I was left wishing all of the volumes were available right now in the U.S.

Definitely worth it!

Another Epic Issue of Storm Riders!
For those of you who don't know by now, Storm Riders is an epic English-translated Chinese comic drawn by artist Wing Shing Ma. Wind Shing Ma's artistic style is very detailed and less exaggerated than most Japanese manga. Storm riders follow the story of stepbrothers Wind, Cloud, and Frost and their battles with their evil foster father Conquer. (Although it is not altogether necessary, its advisable to read issues 1-9 to fully appreciate 10).

In this issue, Lord Conquer's disciples Wind and Cloud are separated. Wind, suffering a devastating injury (see last issue) inflicted by evil lord Conquer, must cope with with the agony of his wound and a confrontation with an assassin band spearheaded by Immortal Taste (no, I did not make that one up, it really is his name!) Similarly, Cloud, must adjust to the use of his new arm (also last issue), and repay his debt to Red Yu.

This book deals with both heroes' loss they come to grips with their physical disabilities. This was a powerful issue, with some great character development for Wind and Cloud. In particular, Wind's devastating injuries and his nobility in the face of certain death were really gripping. Cloud breaks free of his mega jerk bad boy attitude to do a good deed, which had me gawking at the pages in amazement. (I'm not a huge fan of Cloud when he's in a self-pitying snit, which is most of the time, LOL). The scene between the two assassins "Harmony between husband and wife" was moving. (You'll know what I mean when you get to that part).

Another great issue of Storm Riders! (As usual), because of the violence (lots of death and mayhem), I recommend this for mature readers only.
