theories and opinions -- not scripture
Missler's book is based upon personal religious theories. Often, I think the author(s) take biblical scriptures out of context to prove their theories. Those theories seem to have some holes, in my opinion.

I think this book is best for people who are really struggling with terrible tragedies in their lives, and looking for a way to explain why bad things happen to good people, but keep in mind that it is not the Bible; just a fellow christian's opinions.

Oddly Legalistic, Poorly Edited
There are certainly some good things about this book, and based on limited exposure to Nancy's tapes I expected to like it far more than I did. First, I have a quibble with poorly edited scriptural references, something that always bugs me.

What bothered me the most, rather shocked me actually, is my feeling that Nancy has created her own theology here, another "God-in-a-box" way of looking at the scriptures. I'm glad to see that she refutes the fallacy that we sometimes run into, that when we have troubles it is somehow our fault, that we must be being punished for something. However, in place of that somewhat heretical but too common viewpoint, she has substituted a new rather legalistic and ritualistic program to somehow integrate onself with God and thereby get oneself "out of the valley". If you will do this, then God will do that... Examination of the biblical references provided (hampered by apparent editing problems) indicated to me that she was frequently taking verses and extending their meaning far beyond what is reasonable, and thereby creating formulaic "solutions".

It seems to me that God has gone to a lot of trouble to show, in the Bible as well as our world, that He is capable of anything, and that He cannot be expected to act in a way that is always consistent with our sense of order, or consistent from one person to another. In reading this book, I got the feeling over and over that in her anxiety to make sense out of the mysteries of our lives and tragedies, Nancy somehow lost sight of God's mystery and inscrutability.

close to the heart - the dark times
Nancy does a wonderful job of reminding her readers that not all the darkness in our lives is a result of hidden sin. She does a remarkable job of relating how God's actual deep abiding love for us brings us to and through the dark times so that we look more like His Son Jesus when we walk out the other side into His Light. Thank you Nancy!

Very disappointing -- expected motivational short stories
I expected a motivational book about mental, emotional and physical health for RE agents in the trenches, and got a new age manifesto of no use to me. I love all of Barb's other books on RE -- she is a gifted teacher. But in this book she has strayed from her area of expertise into personal, subjective, and in some cases just strange ideas about how one should live. Her thoughts on health are untested and experimental, and her musings on spirituality are so nebulous that she ends up saying nothing of import in that section. Too bad; I know she has many stories that would encourage and motivate many of us to better things.

If You Wear Out Your Body Where Will You Live
This a great little book that is uplifting, fun, inspiring, very informational and a good quick read. I especially loved the ideas she shared about creating the life you want and techniques to help acheive it. It is also a good basic tool to understand some of the most popular herbs that can benefit almost anyone's health. I have shared this book with friends and family and have gotten nothing but great comments from them as well. It is a wonderful motivational guide to reread on a daily basis.

Before Poetry Became Twaddle
Reading Macdonald's poetry is like taking a Mensa quiz---it's an interesting intellectual exercise, but one devoid of passion or genuine emotion. Her poems remain marred by bad puns, and she mistakes the gynecological for genuine inspiration. An attempt at poetic formality further distances the reader away from the reality the poems attempt to reflect. Artifical, superficial, overwritten, and best buried, her "Living Will" arrives DOA.

EXQUISITE!
This is an exquisite, finely wrought book...as intelligent and passionate as any of the author's others...pay no attention to the scorpion jeaulousy of "Mr. Brady", who envies merely envies this fine poet's books...

did not add much to most readers' knowledge
The book declares in the introduction that it is not a book for scholars or professional communicators. I wish I had seen this before I bought it. What I was really looking for was some help for my public speaking skills. The book really is a compendium of "common sense" that we should use when we communicate with others. We should have learned most of this through our own life experience while interacting with others, but it is all here in one convenient package so that we don't have to go looking everywhere for this information.

Even though the book is entertaining and it never purports to be the type of book that I was searching for, it really did not tell me anything that I already didn't know. It does give advice on how to "give a speech" for example, but the advice is too vague and not specific enough to be of great help (like, "legitimize your fear"; "illucidate you fear"; "embrace your fear"; "the best way to make an impression is by making the impression that you are not trying to make an impression", etc.) While the book is good so far as it goes and the advice is true, I just did not see that it added much to most readers' knowledge about the subject. If you do need a book with lots of awesome practical tips for public speaking then get Tony Jeary's "Inspire Any Audience".

I Come to Do Your Will: Christian Discernment Through the Heritage and Tradition of the Church

A Critical Approach to Discernment
Taylerson takes an academic approach to discernment in the Catholic Christian's life in "I Come To Do Your Will." He reflects on historical perspectives on discernment, including Catherine of Sienna and Saint Ignatius. He draws from Old Testament and New Testament stories of discerning God's will. The book is structured into a series of reflections.

While the content of this slim volume possess a certain depth and academic flavor, it neglects the aspects of inspiration. Taylerson writes that inspiration is the first step in discernment for the Virgin Mary, and presumably, for Christians. This book is not written to be inspirational. Instead, it possesses an analytical quality and tone. The occasional stories mixed in with the content keep it from being completely dry.

Not what I expected
I was looking for advice on setting up a trust, trying to keep attorney and other fees as low as possible. This book certainly does not do this. The recommendations of hiring an estate attorney, a financial advisor, and other advisors to form a team would probably eat up my entire estate. For me there are much better books available

Not very good..
I was disapointed with the choice of stories here. I understand that, 'Jesus Freaks' testamonies, the book, is much better. I didn't like this but I do like the Left Behind fiction series.

Still alive & upright in Lancaster, CA
I was disappointed in this book. It had many typos in the text that made me suspicious of the quality of the content. The only thing I got from this book is: Fill in a data sheet from your estate attorney before you go to the office and the book does not substitute for an attorney so do not use the sample formats. The other three books I've read have been far superior. I've read Beyond the Grave by Condon, The Complete Book of Wills, Estates & Trusts by Boyle and the 60 Minute Estate Planner by Kraemer and gotten much more from them.

Very Remedial Pamphlet
Using a small font this pamphlet could be paraphrased in this amount of space. Definitely not what I had in mind. Did not include enough developed information, lacked substantive information.
