Brilliant
I'm not normally a poetry reader, but I picked this up, and I was just blown away. Peter Meinke isn't afraid to be funny, but his poems are still touching and meaningful, and not at all hoity-toity. I especially loved "Supermarket" and "The Poet , Trying to Suprise God." I would recomend this book to anyone, even people who don't normally read poetry. Come on, give this one a try!

Valuable PC Resource Guide
If you've never used Liquid PC, get this book and get started! As a PC artist, I found the uses of liquid PC staggering. The world of the PC artist is a very sharing and caring environment. That's one of the reasons I enjoy the craft so much as the artists are all very generous with their techniques and knowledge. The authors of Liquid Polymer Clay are no exception and have a wealth of tips and tricks within the pages of their book. Novice and Advanced artists alike will benefit from the Mitchell sisters' wealth of knowledge. Kudos to you both!

I am happy to have a chance to read this book!
I am a LPE engineer and doing biz with LPE grown epitaxial wafers for various kinds of applications. Especially for opto-devices. In this book I hoped to get some information for GaP:N and GaP:Zn-O for green and red color LED during my developing stage. I hope to get some information in the next edition of this book about mass producing recent industrialized LPE technology and state-of the-art growth concept and technology.

Great Recipe and Good Learning Concepts
Lulu's Lemonade describes the tale of little Lulu who only wants a drink of lemonade and how her sister and friend make award winning lemonade while she teaches about liquid measures and fractions in a simple and concise manner. This is one of the best books I've seen for explaining fractions to young children. My seven year old understood the concepts and loved making the lemonade recipe at the end which was very tasty.

North American combustion handbook : a basic reference on the art and science of industrial heating with gaseous and liquid fuels

A Practical Guide to Combustion
The North American Combustion Handbook is a very worthwhile investment. It is a real time saver, as it compiles useful, useable information relating to gas burner design and operation, stoichiometry, basic heat transfer and fluid flow. A real plus and value is the units conversion section in the back of the book. Virtually any conversion you can think of is tabularized there. Although geared to industrial applications in some sections, the presentation is general enough to be of value to assist in introduction to or refreshing oneself with the combustion concepts involved.

A very helpfull and readable textbook
A few fundamental principles like Maxwell's equations are used in the book to develop successful theory. Thorough examples help to apply the theory to very broad range of actual technological problems of modern optical science. It makes the book of great use to graduate students and to anyone having good mathematical background.

Bible for liquid crystals!
Like every book by de Gennes, this book is a classic! This latest edition in a "must have" text for everyone even remotely associated with liquid crystals. The text is written in a self contained fashion, but the mathematics and physics is of advanced level, and to fully appreciate the content one must have some grip on statistical mechanics, tensor and vector algebra, electromagnetism and continuum physics. Thus it is ideal for physicists, a rewarding challenge for chemists and starting researchers.

To get a simple understanding of liquid crystals (without chemical and mathematical equations), a text by Peter J. Collins (Liquid Crystals: Nature's delicate phase of matter) is highly recommended. For people interested in synthesis of liquid crystals, this text has almost nothing to offer and maybe another text by Collins is more useful. Another important text on the physics of liquid crystals is by Chandershekar. But bottomline is while you may want to look at other texts for specific needs (synthesis or display devices), The Physics of Liquid Crystals by de Gennes is the book one must have and one must read to make a living in this area. (of course, I will read the whole text too....)
