A must for practitioners of SEC
Even though over 20 years old, this text remains the standard in the field of SEC. The introductory chapters on retention, band broadening, and resolution not only are a must read but will be returned to many times. The sections on instrumentation, detectors, columns, and data handling are still useful, but are dated. This book could greatly benefit from a second edition, to include updated detection and column methodologies, as well as hyphenated techniques. As such, because it is not a cheap book, it is probably not the ideal textbook. However, academics, industrial practitioners, and anyone who is seeking either basic or advanced SEC info will probably find what they need here. It should also be mentioned that the treatment of solution thermodynamics (i.e., the combined effects of solvent and temperature on dissolution and dilute solution properties) is above average for an SEC text. For a 20+ year old book, the treatment of the subject matter has held up extremely well.

Non-Homogeneous Liquids Near the Critical Point and the Boundary of Stability and Theory of Percolation and Superconductivity of Ceramics (Soviet Sci)

Fascinating and Entertaining.
Although you wouldn't know it to read the title, which is a job on its own, I admit, this book is essential reading for anyone involved in the percolation sciences. And what's more, the authors bring a lively sense of humor to the subject that is rare among Soviet authors.

Enjoyable Spoken Word with Beautiful Language
From what appears to be a first effort, this is an interesting chronology. A mix of poetry, spoken word & autobiography, Pala is aesthetically pleasing in concept and execution. The dedication picture of Muhammad Ali was a pleasant surprise and the illustrations and cover pics are great!

How About A CD With XML Formatted Data?
Generations of engineers, and not a few chemists and physicists either, have depended on this book as the standard reference for the properties of water.

This is the 1969 edition, and there is no more recent edition. Which should give you some idea of how definitively the authors described their subject.

Perhaps the only suggestion for improvement is for a CD version that has the tables in some XML format that can be easily integrated into a computer program. Notice that this is different from other books which might have a CD version that duplicates the contents of the hardcopy. There, the CD's main advantage might be the ability to have a comprehensive all-word index. Here, where most of the book are tables of numbers, that need is not really relevant. Instead, where there are tables, the best use of CD would be to hold XML formatted tables.

Ultrasonic Liquid Atomization
Published in Paperback by Partridge Hill Pubs (01 March, 1998)
Author: Harvey L. Berger
Amazon base price: $70.00
Used price: $187.64
Average review score:

A Good Start
Berger gives a good introduction to ultrasonic atomization, a relatively new topic of interest in the scientific community. It is well written and understandable in addition to having in depth technical information. If you are lookng for more information about ultrasonic atomization than is commonly found in journal articles, this is a pretty good book.
