Ken does it again, great message
Ken does a great job of telling stories from his life and relating them to his topic in this cassette. He mixes very funny comedy into his serious topics very effectively. In this instance, Ken tells us to see the funny side of things once in a while in life and not always take things so serious because God gave us a sense of humor for a reason, he wants us to enjoy the live he has given us. Highly recommended!

For the whole family
Ken Davis' Lighten Up was great for the whole family, including parents and children aged 8 and 18. Very nice for long trips or for listening while working around the house.

Funny and Thought-provoking!
Ken Davis does a fantastic job of telling true stories which anyone can relate to. His overall messge is powerful and positive. He urges each of us to be true to ourselves, and to see the humor in life all around us. Davis has a strong personal faith in God, but he doesn't hit you over the head with his beliefs. My 8 & 10 year old children were laughing out loud and (I hope) absorbing the underlying message as well. He is terrific! I am eager for the next one!

Down to earth and real - the book and Ms. Beach!
I just had the pleasure of attending one of Ms. Beach's workshops in Virginia Beach at the Heritage Store (one of my favorite places!), and I have it say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I left with a clearer understanding of why I have issues with food, a real desire and excitement in making changes, and positivity in myself that I had not had before. Ms. Beach states that "self talk is hynosis" and it sounds so simple but think about it - if we constantly cut ourselves down consciously, then our subconscious has no choice but to listen! The book is a gem, short and to the point, in a laid-back tone that will appeal to readers, as if a friend is talking to you. I also purchased her cd and plan to start my program immediately. Ms. Beach is very personable and seemed to truly care about her workshop members, asking questions and acknowledging feelings, in a very warm environment that made you want to share. I only wish the workshop could have been longer! Please check out her website as well (http://www.en-trance.com). A wonderful experience all the way through, highly recommended!

Missing Ingredient
With all the hype surrounding Dr. Phil's "ultimate" solution, this gem of a book provides the missing ingredient. I loved the step-by-step approach and guidance in how to rally put the power of my mind to work for me. Not just talk, this book gave me the exercises and scripts I needed to take even Dr. Phil's good ideas and do the actual programming he talks so much about, but doesn't really give the hands-on tools to pull off. Thank You, Ms. Beach.

Excellent and easy book to follow.
This book was a life-saver for us. My husband was put on a low-fat diet due to an unexpected and life-threatening event. I had no idea how or what to prepare for him. Because of this event, he was out of work for 6 months and I was trying to work more to keep up with the finances, etc. I was able to quickly prepare this recipes and as his strength increased he also was able to easily prepare these recipes. We found them not only easy but also delicious. I have shared this book with many friends and relatives and I believe at least 20 people at work have bought this book. I am in the process of buying another copy to give to a friend whose husband just had heart by-pass surgery who had three children and also works outside the home. I would love to personally thank the author. This book allowed me to have one less thing to worry about in a really stressful time in my life.

A lowfat cookbook for everyday use!
This cookbook was excellent. I was not looking for a "diet" cookbook, but a "lifestyle" cookbook. I want to be happy, healthy, and enjoy food. This book shows you how to enjoy all of your favorite foods (including desserts) without all of the extra fat and calories. In this cookbook, Mary Ross talks about proper portions and servings. She helps you determine how much fat, carbs, and protein you need. It is full of great receipes -from simple to gourmet. I highly recommend it!

A decent book for stress management
After taking Bob's course and using this book, I have learned new ways to manage stress which has helped increase my overall life enjoyment. The book is easy to read, has pictures, and diagrams to help clarify different areas. He includes situations to further describe his points. I highly recommend this book for those who are stressed out or just interesting in learning new techniques.

Help for your entire lifelong journey!
I took the course from Bob, the author of Slow Down & Lighten Up, and to say that he has a firm grasp on how to teach others how to deal with life's stress, is an understatement. He is emphathetic to people's problems, but has a strong ability to help you with behavior modifications , instead of the much easier pity-party ways.He will help you to take these new tools and integrate them so that they become second-nature, instead of reverting back to one's own old and destructive patterns.I would highly recommend this book for anyone , not just those that have suffered from prolonged anxiety. Very helpful, Bob--you definitely get a 5 star!!!

Excellent resouce for Anxiety/panic disorders
I have read numerous books on Anxiety/Panic disorders. I found they were lengthy and time consuming. If you find yourself lacking in patience as well as time like me, you will find this book a gift from above. Bob Van Oosterhout has given all the tools you need, from understanding stress, how to restore and maintain balance and dealing with day to day situations. The entire book is rich in content and very well written. It will get you moving torwards success right away.

Excellent self-help for all levels of clutterdom.
Who hasn't wished for a fairy godmother to come to our homes and, with a tip of her wand, transform our overstuffed closets into streamlined wardrobes, and our uncontrollable papers into files that actually help us? Well, with this book she has arrived, and I expect she will stay in my own household for some time. I have read many, many books about how to simplify and organize your life; Lighten Up! is one of the very best. Its tone is logical, thorough, practical, and compassionate. Author Michelle Passoff leads you step-by-step through the dreaded process, however long it will take, of reclaiming your home and the objects within it. But she offers far more than that, by linking physical de-cluttering with the metaphysical process of surrendering your old emotional and spiritual "baggage" and opening up your life to the miracles that will surely follow. Don't expect to dive right into your closet during the first chapter; instead, Passoff starts with a grand overview of the most important questions, such as: what do you want from this life, anyway? From there, she helps you attack your clutter methodically, from surveying your home (without scolding yourself), to learning the vocabulary of clutter, to aquiring the correct receptacles and storage options, to actually dismantling the clutter, one item at a time. Throughout the book, she graciously lets YOU take the lead, deciding what to approach, when, and how long it will take. I highly recommend this book to people with all levels of clutter: there is something for everyone here.

Great book! Helps you recognize & tackle clutter hang-ups!
I've already sent an email to the author thanking her for writing this very enlightening book. I got the book, read it, and used it that weekend as my aid in decluttering our messy home office. The office is now a clean and effective place to work. Now on to the other rooms...

This is the first book I've found in my years-long search for answers to clutter-cleaning problems. The most profound thing this book did for me that no other has is that the author helped me weed out and address mental or philosophical issues that kept me from effectively dealing with clutter. After offering different ways to address those issues, the author then shows--step-by-step--how to work through clutter in each room in the home. She wisely instructs you not to buy anymore filing or organizing apparatus until you've decluttered. She encourages you throughout the book, repeating ideas like "leave no stone unturned" to help you forge through the decluttering process. She even recognizes that you'll need to keep the book right there while decluttering, and tells you what sections to read for mental reenforcement when tackling tough decluttering issues--like items belonging to deceased loved ones.

Throughout the book, the author is very warm-hearted and positive, and offers unique alternatives for dealing with clutter that we are sentimentally attached (or tied down) to. It's a great tool, and gives you the mental resources needed to EFFECTIVELY recognize and deal with clutter both at home and at work. I plan to buy this book for my mom, brother, friends...

You need this book
This book is amazing. It walks you through every obstacle to clearing your clutter. I wouldn't part with it because you can pick it up again and jump back in when you are starting to slide back into your cluttering ways!

Intellectual Property
This book is entirely too similar to C.W. Metcalf's 1992 book,
"Lighten Up: Survival Skills for People Under Pressure." Mr. Braverman should find his own material.

Get over it!
I found this book to be a great resource for getting over anything in life, be it a bad relationship or tough business times. My PR firm is using some of Terry's ideas from the business chapter; whoever thinks work cannot be fun must read this book!

Braverman's book is superior
I strongly disagree with a previous reviewer's assessment that Braverman's book is similar to Mr. Metcalf's. This book is chock full of ideas to implement in everyday living with levity, and a great asset to have in my clinical practice. Thank you Mr. Braverman!
