My first animal lift the flap book
This book is wonderful. My child absolutly adores this book. It is perfect for teaching him about animals. I highly recomend it for anyone with young chidlren.

Fun photos and flaps!
If your child is a fan of the other My First Word books, this is a definite must have.

Featuring the photographs that make the other board books in the series so appealing, this one adds flaps which always manage to capture my toddler's attention. Included in such groups as food and animals, the photos are also used to teach such concepts as tall and short, inside and outside.

My only wish is that the publisher would come out with a second Lift the flap board book!

The Only Boobs in the House Are Men: A Veteran Woman Legislator Lifts the Lid on Politics MacHo Style

Author: Maxine Berman

Representative Maxine Berman's account of life in the male-dominated Michigan State legislature. Saucy, shocking, outrageous, but never dull. Here is the story of one woman working with the good-old boys--whether they want her around or not.

Berman takes us behind the scenes as issues unfold and deals are made. The legislative process is described from the inside out, along with all the dirty little secrets. She exposes the fraternity of male lawmakers who are uneasy and unsure of their female counterparts--who resent their presence, and hardly know what to do about them or how to act.

A veteran of over ten years in the Michigan House of Representatives, Berman has faced the deceit and prejudices, the games and ambiguity, the blatant sexism that runs wild within the political power structure. And she tells all!

Interesting
Although I don't agree with some of what the author says, she says it well. This book is funny and insightful. The author has written about women and their place in politics and how many important issues are overlooked by men in politics. She was very direct and to the point that there all issues are important to women although not all issues are important to men (such as mammogram scanner machines). She talks about how she overcame some of the preconcieved notions men had about her as a woman and how she learned to survive in politics. Very interesting.

enjoy.

Great woman, great book.
Maxine Berman's inside view of the workings of the Michigan Legislature is funny, insightful, and interesting. An easy read, this book is full of biting commentary that forces the reader to think about political issues from a different perspective. Read it and weep tears from laughing so hard! Refreshing perspectives.

There's No Place Like Home
Another beautiful production from English publisher Dorling Kindersley, "Open House" features sumptuous, action-packed illustrations, a pithy text, and more than 90 durable flaps revealing the interiors of eight different historical structures: A Roman sidewalk and upstairs house, its 19th century American West counterpart, a 15th Century Scottish tower, an 18th century "Country Mansion" (in the Roman style), a 19th century French farmhouse, a mid-nineteenth century Japanese home, and (from the 17th century) a French farmhouse and a Dutch home. Three of the eight illustrations are two-page spreads, including the tall Scottish tower.

Daily life is described briefly, and the flaps open to show more detail about the various occupants and their use of each building. Open one of the tower flaps, for example, and you see the Scottish lord's servants and soldiers eating in the great hall, and read that meals were "served on a slice of stale bread, instead of a plate." Peer inside the French farmhouse to view a boy lifting a heavy sack of grain, or find the patchwork quilt in the house above the Old West general store. The slim book provides a snapshot of both the delights and the hardships of life in earlier times. This is an excellent book to explore for fans of flaps, history, architecture, and culture.

Open House
This is a terrific book. It has so much detail behind each "lift-the-flap" that each reading shows something missed before. From a "Roman Street" house to a western "American Store" each page is interesting, factual, and entertaining. I have been searching for another book like this for years! My kids' favorite page has always been the "Scottish Tower" from the 1500's that shows the "bathroom facilities"!
Enjoy.

This book is wonderful!
My son who is 10 months old loves this book! He will sit and flip through the pages all by himself. A MUST have for all babies.

My 1 year old twins LOVE this book.
My daughters love it when I open the page size flaps to reveal a photograph of a happy baby, sad baby, angry baby, silly baby, etc. while exclaiming "Peekaboo!" It's absolutely their favorite book and we read it several times a day.

A great lift-the-flap book
I bought this book and another similar book from the same author a while ago when my daughter was only several month old. At the time, it is difficult to share it with her because she is too young and not gentle to the books. These books are combination of lift-the-flap and pop-up. On each page, you lift a flap and something pops up, which is quite neat. Recently, when she turned a year old, they suddenly become her favorite books. She is eager to turn each page and find the surprise (the flap). She tries to be gentle with them too. I find that she is more interested in the books that only have one flap per page than the books that have several flaps per page at this age.

Beautiful and educational book!
My 2.5 year old daughter and I have read this book at least once a day since she received it for Christmas and she just loves this book. It is a beautifully illustrated pop-up book that introduces very young children to the wildlife of Asia as it tells the story of little Ping Ping looking for bamboo with the assistance of the friends she meets along the way. Every child who picks up this book at our house has been immediately enchanted with it. When we actually saw the Fairy bluebirds and pandas at the San Diego Zoo recently my daughter was SO excited to see her book come alive. This book has been a wonderful addition to our already BIG toddler/preschooler collection.

Flaps are great for infants and toddlers
Great book. My son, 11 months, loves Elmo and loves this book. The flaps are laminated and so are great for little hands. he loves lifting up to see the puppies.

Great Book for Toddlers
This book is a must have for any parent of a toddler that loves Elmo and also loves dogs! My 15 month old can't get enough of this book! The hidden pictures are a plus too! Enjoy!

Best beginner board books
My mother bought all four of these books for my daughter when she was less than 6 months old and she has loved them ever since. (She is now 17 months.) She takes them with her everywhere, and loves to have them read to her over and over. Her first word, was in fact, "book", so she could get us to show them to her. She especially loves the lift-up flaps and soft inserts, which she rubs on her cheeks. Highly recommended!

One of the Best
I am a children's book fanatic and I LOVE this book. It has been a big favorite in our family and is even my secret weapon for long flights and car trips with my babies. For an interesting, interactive baby book, I highly recommend this one.

Delightful birthday surprise!
The only drawback to this delightful pop-up party in a book is that some of the tabs are difficult for young fingers to pull.

A favorite, again and again
For the parents who loved "The Wheels on The Bus.." pop up book, this is a must. Get two, before they run out. My 14 month old won't go to sleep without at least three encores.

My son loves this book
This book has been a favorite of my son's since we have been reading to him. At first, he was fascinated by watching the spider pop through the pages on the book. Then, he loved to try to find the spider as it hides throughout the book. Now, he takes the spider through himself. This is a very interactive book and a lot of fun. We can't read it just once, it's at LEAST twice. The only drawback is it gets a little old for me! But he enjoys it so much, I don't really mind.

Delightful peek-a-boo style fun for a wide variety of ages.
My 18-month-old daughter "inherited" this book from her 7-year-old cousin, who really enjoyed it. It fast became her favorite book and she'd spend lots of time tucking the cardboard "silly spider" in and out of his hiding places. I bought a copy for a friend's daughter and she loved it, too. Try it -- you'll get a real kick out of the bright illustrations and the "peek a boo" interactive spider!
