very helpful informationI read this book after starting my new job as a debt collector and it helped me to triple the amount i was collecting the month after I read it. I only read the areas that directly affected my specific job, so I can only speak for some of the book, but what i did read was well written and very informative. A definite for anyone collecting or dealing with credit collectors.

A great how to manualFor those thinking about treading the water as a trading company or for those who work in the industry, this book is absolutely superb at offering specific case studies and detailed resolutions for each case. It includes even the faxes and email communications that happened verbatim, and certainly gives one a level of understanding of the complexity involved in moving goods between countries. Worth the time for anyone interested in international trade.

LETTERS OF CREDITLetters of credit is a complex subject - it involves international and domestic commerce: merchants, banks, and attorneys, in all countries of the World. The first letter of credit was issued hundreds of years ago, and in the US the first recorded one is from Thomas Jefferson to Lewis and Clark. Mr. Hartfield wrote this excellent handbook for (commercial/documentary) letters of credit in 1979 which is still as good as it was then. I recommended a copy for every practitioner.

A classic book on letterform constructionWalter Tracy's "Letters of Credit" is a classic book on the construction of letterforms and typefaces. It includes historical information on each of the type families and designers it examines. The chapter that discusses the correct spacing of letters is a classic. Highly recommended to anyone with a strong interest in typeface design (along with Alexander Lawson's "Anatomy of a Typeface").

A practical guide to using and writing Standbys. The earlier addition (1989) was tremendously useful during a consulting assignment in Cameroon in 1992-94. Isolated in Bamenda among the small coffee plantations of the Northwest Province, I drew upon Wunnicke to understand SLCs in detail and draft a master UCP standby letter of credit that served as a framework to enhance lending to a privatized coffee industry by a consortium of local banks. The book has good explanations of the rights and obligations of the various parties, different sections of the LC and legal points of a SLC and some useful templates. Had the book contained more cases and some descriptions of operations and processing flow at issuing banks, it would have been even more illuminative. Cary Wingfield Raditz, CFA

Very, very basic bookUpon receipt of this book I was very, very disapointed.
If you are looking for a collection letter book that gives solid, indepth letters that include FDCPA tags and other inportant collection letter information, this is not the book to buy.
The letters are very basic (people with zero experience might find this to be a starting point) and it glosses over many topics. OR does not address them at all. (If you need letters for accounts more than 90 days past due -- there is no help here.)
I will be very wary of what I buy on Amazon based on this experience. If you are doubtful about buying it -- don't!
