Factual, acurate and in layman terms
I am experiencing some Deed problems in California and to try and get detailed information from the clerks office is impossible. This book has all the info you need. I highly recommend it!

An unbelievable bargain
If you need to change a deed on your house or other real property -- changed your name, separated, married, adding a survivor to inherit -- don't pay a lawyer or title company hundreds of dollars to do it. Buy this book. Read the instructions carefully, fill out the forms and then go to the county recorder's office and file it yourself. Even if you have to pay for parking.

If I can do it, anyone can do it. After finding this book such a great help, I have turned to Nolo Press time and again for self-help legal books. Written my will, created powers of attorney for my domestic partner, even helped my folks set up living trusts. If you read the book and decide you do need legal help, you'll be better prepared to ask questions and direct the professional to do what you want, and to do what you can yourself to save dollars. Just shaving a half hour off a lawyer's time spent more than pays for the book.

Good Overview
I bought this and two other books on the same subject. This is the one I read first. It covers 9 different aspects of the subject so you only have to read the chapters that are applicable to your situation. Very readable. A good place to start.

Great resource
This books includes alot of great, sound information, and is detailed enough to allow a person to discuss the options with their attorney/CPA. It does not provide enough info to allow the nonprofessional to draft any documents. A little disappointed that nearly all of the wealth transfer techniques deal with CRTs. However, they are described in the context of their application in different scenarios, which provides a clear illustration of their benefits (which are significant). In summary, this book provided a number (about a dozen) great ideas for using ones assets to generate income while alive and transferring the assets to children with reduced estate taxes.

Lean, pragmatic approaches to complex estate problems
Mr. Shattuck's book, "Estate Planning for Small Business Owners" is the best practical resource I found on the topic of preserving and protecting assets owned by entrepreneur and/or small business person. He offers cost-effective methods for dealing with practical problems that are unique to small business owners. As an attorney, I have gained valuable practical insights from this book. Surprisingly comprehensive for a paperback book.

Worth the Investment
Considering the cost of a good IP lawyer, this book is well worth it.

It is written in business terms and covers many important topics. It was especially useful to see what is common in agreements, what is desired, hard to get, and common resolution approaches.

I found it very useful in developing a long term relationship with a company interested in licensing technology from my company. It is especially good for business people (like myself) who are need to understand the important parts of a licensing agreement during business discussions.

The sample agreement at the end of the book alone is worth the price. I adapted it for our use and know a lawyer starting from scratch would have invested many hours to develop it.

Land Transfer and Finance by Axelrod et al.
This book contains much detail on the technical aspects of
real estate law. It describes rights, duties and obligations
of brokers. In addition, the authors cover different mortgage
amortization assumptions and secured transactions. The concept
of depreciation and tax-sheltered income is explained. The
whole area of title insurance is explained together with
illustrative cases and citations. The benefits and pitfalls of
condominum conversion/ownership are explained. Overall, the work will benefit anyone seeking to explore real estate as an
investment.

Authors: Regis W. Campfield, Martin B. Dickinson, and William J. Turnier

Outstanding for classroom use
This is an outstanding book. I teach a course for undergraduate and graduate business students to teach them how to naviate the gift and estate tax waters. I have used several textbooks that did nothing but confuse most students. This is the most helpful book I have found, and the students generally like it, too, once they learn how to read legal cases. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the laws affective gift and estate taxes.

Valuation and Pricing of Technology-Based Intellectual Property

Some thoughts from a competing author
Dr. Razgaitis has tackled an area that contains the most difficult question facing professionals and intellectual property owners - how to value and price embryonic technology.

In recent years many have attempted to educate us on the subject of valuing intellectual property. Complex financial theories and spread-sheet models emerged, especially during the e-business bubble as some strove to explain the unexplainable valuations of enterprises whose only assets were intangible. Dr. Razgaitis obviously knows and understands the theories, but doesn't let the reader escape into flights of fancy, instead bringing one back to earth gently, sometimes with humor, sometimes with real-life anecdotes.

This book allows the reader to seek information to a depth that he or she wishes. As an example, the Monte Carlo technique is presented in all its complexity for those willing and able to study it. At the same time, mathematically challenged readers can still come away with an understanding of what is going on. The author is skilled in clearly explaining complexities and the many well designed charts and tables greatly assist the reader.

These are just some of the features that set this book apart and give it a strong practical value to all of those who create and exploit technology assets, and to those who advise them. Anyone in those roles should have this book within easy reach.

Outlaws
Published in Hardcover by Andrews McMeel Publishing (March, 1996)
Author: Tim Green
Amazon base price: $22.95
Used price: $1.99
Collectible price: $2.99

Average review score:

Green's football formula begins to slide
Green continues the NFL/scandal formula but adds a new dimension with attorney Madison McCall, who gets drawn into defending high-profile NFL players accused of heinous crimes. This time the plot is even more far-fetched connecting a rogue intelligence operative, nuclear material, a gang shooting, and two star NFL players and their wives. The book just does not work that well; Ruffians and Titans stick to what they are supposed to be, yet Outlaws tries to go in a direction that it really cannot go in and be true to itself.

outlaws
I really enjoyed reading "Outlaws". It was very exciting and entertaining. A very Easy read. With excellent charecters. And twist and turns on every page. I believe this is a book anyone would enjoy reading.

Grisham of the gridiron strikes again!
Once again Tim Green strikes paydirt in his action thriller involving football. This book more than his others actually works without the football twist. Certainly something that I would not suggest, just proof that this author can if he wants remove the football crutch. His best effort yet. When is the next, i anxiously wait
