This is a beautiful book that must be read over and over during different times in one's life. It is uncompromising and honest. It is about people, not characters. It will deliver as much as the reader is willing to receive.

I think this book was very descriptive and a well writen book. Its perfet for research for anything and my kids loved it. They read it for a week then they asked if there was a nether "Forces and Movement" out that they could read! Thanks, Jeremy Lacocque

I'd taken a class in Situational Leadership years ago when I was at IBM. Having taken nearly every management course that's come down the pike I can tell you it was the only that I could use at the end of the first day of training . . . and use at home! This little book, The Situational Leader has all the same material that was in my class: how to vary your style to meet the needs of people you want to lead, how to diagnose readiness, how to develop people and what to do when performance slips. I use it in my consulting practice now. This material is over thirty years old and more useful now than ever before! I gave it 5 stars and recommend it to anybody who wants to be more successful and effective at leading up, down, across and at home.

Leading a small group bible study for the first time can be intimidating. InterVarsity, a ministry centered on these groups, recognized this and took action by publishing this book. The SGL Handbook starts out by outlining the components of a good small group in-depth. But it doesn't stop there! It explains the different phases small groups experience and how you can be prepared for them. It deals with conflict head-on and encourages small group leaders to do the same. The last few chapters address issues of leadership. If you are leading a bible study for the first time, you need this resource! It will prove invaluable to you as you journey through leading a small group.

Whether historical fiction, or the biography of a previous life (as claimed by the author), this book is well written. It describes the life of Pharoh and the politics of the Egyptian Court just prior to the birth of Moses. This is an entirely different account of Moses' birth than the one we are accustomed to reading. It is most entertaining and quite believable. I enjoyed the book very much.

Women are leaders too, and all women have leadership potential and abilities. This is the message of this new book by Joan Eleanor Gustafson.

Some Leaders are Born Women tells the stories of 37 female leaders from different walks of life - so the book is easy to read, interesting and down-to-earth. It tells you how these women got their feet wet! and rose to the challenges within each of their lives, communities, businesses and families. The stories of these women ar wonderful and truly inspiring.

Joan outlines the seven essential characteristics shared by women leaders in the world today and outlines the ways in which each of us can become more effective in our lives by building and developing the leader that already lives within us. Readers who enjoy self help strategies will find the advice here helpful and relevant.

Although most of the stories are about American women, some come from other countries. I enjoyed discovering the commonalities in the stories despite the diversity of occupation and location.

It is clear to me, from reading this book, the Joan Eleanor Gustafson is herself a dynamic leader and has a lot that is interesting to say about a topic that is still difficult for women to grapple with, acknowledge and own - that some leaders are born women!

The book is not perfect but is one of the best I have read concerning the personalities and stresses on political leaders in the former Soviet Union. A must read for those who desire to be a reconciling peacemaker between our two countries.

I read Carol's book before I met her at a retreat where she spoke. I can affirm that she is an exemplary speaker. She practices what she preaches. The book provided practical wisdom plus numorous asides on the art of communicating while still upholding the integrity of both the message and the message-giver. I've adapted many of her suggestions to my own speaking outreach.

This is a great series that was used in my youth group when I was a teenager in the late 80's. I am using it now as I teach a 9th-10th grade Sunday School class. It's really good and my kids are really learning alot about a personal and real relationship with God.
