The Leader's Imperative: Ethics, Integrity, And Responsibility edited by J. Carl Ficarrotta is a complete presentation of the Reich and McDermott lectures on military ethics and leadership given at the U.S. Air Force Academy from the years 1988 to 1999. Assembling the words and thoughts of more than twenty veterans of high standing, these twenty lectures combine to address the ethics of warfare, moral education, keeping a center of values in the midst of deadly combat, and much more. The Leader's Imperative is eye-opening reading and filled cover-to-cover with thought provoking testimony about addressing the practical and very real problem of balancing the necessary evils of war with the necessary virtues of respect for human rights.

This book greatly inspired me to greater heights. There is so much depth and easy to apply wisdom that it should be a must for every church member to read and study. It is a collection of many studies that inspire and have been a great tool in growing more muture in church life. Well done Dr.Gordon it should be on everyones bestsellers list.

As the Instructor of a course in Leadership at a major university in Philadelphia, I have found that Frigon's book to be the perfect text book for several reasons. First of all, it is an easy-reader, straight forward,not swimming with pretentious philosophical babble that could turn-off young college students. Secondly, it spells out with clarity the many important dynamics of leadership, team work, and visioning in a (step by step) process that clearly explains these concepts in practical, applicable terms. This is great for those who may be unfamiliar with the concepts of leadership and management, yet the book in no way oversimplifies these concepts for experienced executives or educators; rather it helps the experienced manager to redefine his/her pracitices of leadership by offering many hands-on techniques that will never become obselete. These principles and practices help to continually develop the skills that are needed to maintain the pole position in one's personal and professional life. Thirdly, Frigon's book is concise and precise proving that you don't need a whole lotta pages to get to the point. This is also great in terms of teaching. Students have read this book comprehensively two or three times per semester...on their own...as an on-going guide like none other. And lastly...the price is right... buy two.. give one as a gift to someone who is hungry for success...Excellent! Nothing more to say.

A very fine collection of short biographies of ancient greeks, including Solon the lawgiver, Themistocles the father of Athens' navy, Pericles who oversaw the building of the Parthenon, and others, like the macedonian king Philip and his son Alexander the great (who conquered the Persian empire and died at age thirty three). The author provides an excellent general background chapter about ancient Greek history that gives a nice context to fit in the characters in the bios. Really a fun book for folks who are into ancient Greece. Gets a thumbs up from me.

One of the best ways to learn about a subject is to talk to people who have been successful in the area. I enjoy the Leaders of the New Century Series because their interviews are close to having the conversations myself.

This edition has a strong orientation to the stock market / investment world. Between the interviews with Schwab and the heads of Nasdaq & the NYSE, I gained some real insight to the people controlling the stock market world.

There were some surprises as well. I have never heard Charles Schwab talk about how he had to overcome his learning disability before. It added some fascinating human elements to the leadership discussion.

I would have liked to hear more from Lance Armstrong. His segment was supposed to be short, but I would have liked even more.

This series is very strong. By hearing the actual interviews with these leaders, you pick-up much more than reading a summary.

This was a very worthwhile edition and I recommend it highly.

Herb Kelleher is a master of his craft -- having created one of the best airlines in history and certainly one of the most profitable of all time. His simple secret is to treat his people like gold, so they'll treat customers the same way! This series is a must-listen for any aspiring managers.

This is the most amazing audiobook I've ever heard on the topic of leadership. A refreshing approach to hear directly from artists, CEO's and even President Carter about what inspires leadership. Listened to it in my car and it set the tone for the whole week.

As a very well-written collection of stories, background information, life events, etc. of those individuals who played a crucial role in what would become the most prolific war in American history, Leaders of the North and South submerges the reader into information on almost any aspect of these great leaders' lives through a great deal of amazing pictures and an elaborate text. From Robert E. Lee to Dan Sickles to J.E.B Stuart, this chronicle is one of the most informative and indeed interesting works available concerning the Civil War.

I love this little book!!! I create newsletters, educational and training materials, and books for a variety of client organizations--corporations, small businesses, non-profits, churches and informal groups. This book is a great source for inspirational quotes for my different jobs--but it's more than that, too!

I personally love the way the book's quotes seem to have an orientation toward the human side of work, personal goals and working with other people and keeping a positive attitude about life, even when life and work can be so demanding and fast-paced.

I put this one on my bookshelf at work and have been digging it out a lot lately!
