Leadership in the Classroom
"Learning to Lead" is an incredible book that that breaks down the process of leadership and aids teachers in understanding how to be effective leaders. The book provides an easy to follow format that discusses leadership in early childhood education to becoming an effective leader. The author touches upon all aspects of leadership in the classroom and encourages teachers to build relationships with their students and the outside community.

The book's tone is very uplifting and encouraging which really makes it easy to follow along and understand the material presented. Sullivan takes the teacher from start to finish with describing what leadership is and how it can be attained. She provides answers to everyone's questions and includes real life stories at the end of each chapter to help the reader put the information into perspective. By being able to read someone's experiences and understand the measures they took to resolve the situation, the reader is more likely to confront the situations they are dealing with personally in the classroom. Whether it be from lack of confidence or striving for respect, every issue and obstacle is covered in this book.

While reading the text, I found it extremely helpful to go over the questions that are given after every major section. By answering the questions and going over my own personal responses, I was able to really gain a better understanding of the material and relate it to real life experiences. It is much easier to tackle a situation knowing that someone else has struggled in the same area.

I strongly suggest this book for all teachers of young children because it provides a foundation on which to follow to be an effective leader. It covers every possible situation or circumstance that a teacher could encounter and includes examples of how to deal with each situation. Being a good teacher means being a good leader. Read this book and take the lessons you learn into your classroom!

A remarkable summary of complex behavioral science research and precepts put into a context that is both interesting and practical. The apprach is light and personalized but, at the same time, an effective and concise compendium of many of the best thoughts on leadership. The organization is both attractive and logical. It could easily serve as a basic reference handbook for good leaders who want to know about getting better.

Maintenance-Free Batteries

An Excellent Introduction for Novice in Batteries!
I have been searching for a few books on batteries when I stumbled upon this book by Brendt. It contains very valuable information on how to characterize maintenance free batteries compared to other batteries. Starting from the fundamental chemistry of a basic electrochemical cell, the author then proceed to the various parameters and definitions, and also discusses at length the Lead-Acid and Nickel-Cadmium, and Nickel Metal Hydride Battery systems. The extensive discussion on internal oxygen cycle, the principle behind the above three operations is discussed in detail. It gives a very understandable introduction for the novice, without sacrificing the various technical terms used in describing this in detail. It then discusses the various operational requirements of the battery systems in a point by point manner. This book is really recommended for those who are embarking on serious research on batteries and even an excellent introduction for those who are confused on the various technical specifications for batteries.

A life story worth reading
This is a fascinating story of a life that meandered all over the world. The style is uneven, but the content is very interesting. Submarines, Sailboats and other less reliable means of transport are a focal point.

Practice makes perfect!
Practice makes perfect! (or at least makes you not look ignorant on rounds plus you're less likely to injure a patient!) This book gave a good review of the basics of the EKGs although this is already known if you've read Dubin's, plus a little more in do-able detail. Easy to find sections in areas you need more help for interpretting. The practice EKGs are ALWAYS helpful. You can never have enough practice before your attending asks you questions... Overall, this book is worth it!

Insightful!
As an Army Ranger, Dean Hohl endured Ranger School, in which he was forced to figure out how to survive 14 days in the woods with only 14 meals. He later parachuted into Panama during the U.S. invasion. Now a consultant who leads corporate types through Ranger-style boot camps, Hohl and co-author Maryann Karinch make a convincing case that business leaders can benefit from the same type of training Rangers are given. Organizations need leaders who are flexible and communicative, he argues in an engaging and illustrative way. Hohl resists the temptation to dwell too much on his own war stories, although at times he'd do well to rely more on his experiences and less on bloodless summaries of corporate problems seemingly parroted from the business press. We recommend this book to any manager who leads or works with a team. If you wish that your team could act like a Ranger platoon, start reading.

Ruined indeed!
A good read, informative and enlightening! This book was published after the author's death . . . to bad, I'ld like to thank him. We all need this kind of information in history so that we can avoid the same kinds of problems with mercury, arsenic and cadmium.

A useful book for all working women
The first point that is interesting about this book is the acceptance of the differences between the attitudes of men and women regarding their obligations at home and at work. Realising how we have been brought up, in a way that makes networking, taking risks or finding mentors much easier for men, is an important step towards changing our own attitudes that stand on our way to achieving our goals. One more point of interest is that the book addresses women not only in the corporate sector, but its concepts can be easily applied to all areas of emloyment. The book is highly readable, with many examples and success stories. For those of us using vision aids, note that the book's lettering is well thought of, not large print but comfortable, which makes reading less complicated than the usual overcrowded format used in business books.

I read it before giving it to my husband
I wanted to know more about Christian leadership... This book does just that. After I bought it and started reading it, I realized it was witten for men!! But it was too good to quit then! So I settled back and finished it... and THEN I gave it to my husband - with my first hand recommendation. Jensen is easy to read and gets right down to saying exactly what he means. But I can't say his advice and principles are just for men. They are for every Christian, men and women. This book lays out solid Christian ideas for solid Christian living. And as you know, when you're right, you're right. Nobody will go wrong reading this book.
