Death Plays the Lead is a wonderful journey to a real West Texas town. The sense of location is precise and eerie. An old rock quarry turned into an amphi-theater becomes the center of attention when a body interrupts the final rehearsal of a local group. The conflict between a single-focus director and the local sheriff's office trying to investigate the murder borders on comedy while the local citizenry rises to the occasion in a way only a small town can. Everyone knows everyone else's business and feels sure they know exactly who did it.The sheriff's office keep stumbling over every amatuer detective who is out to prove their own personal theory. Old skeletons keep falling out of the closets of the "local families" as the tentacles of the murder reach way back into the past. Long-ago cover-ups disintegrate and so do some families. I've lived in the area where the story takes place. It COULD have happened just that way. McMaster knows her location and knows the quirks of human nature and handled them both with realism and clarity. I'm looking forward to her next offering.

What a lovely piece of writing. Rosie Turner-Bisset has written a very readable book about the knowledge base that underwrites the teaching profession, in a way that engages the reader.

Being a principal is an intellectual activity and being a teacher is no less intellectual. In fact the author argues that there are twelve knowledge bases in expert teaching:
1.Substantive knowledge
2.Syntactic knowledge- the ways and means that propositional knowledge is generated and established.
3.Beliefs about the subject
4.Curriculum knowledge
5.General pedagogic knowledge
6.Knowledge of contexts
7.Knowledge of self
8.Knowledge/models of teaching
9.Knowledge of learners: cognitive
10.Knowledge of learners: empirical
11.Knowledge of educational ends
12.General pedagogical knowledge

The author's sensitive use of case studies elaborates and supports the epistemological and theoretical position she is developing.

This book is a good buy and is a worthwhile addition to any professional library.

Great learning series
Teaches you many essential riffs used in heavy metal and hard rock! Also touches on soloing. At the end of the book, a whole song is constructed using a typical heavy metal progression. Great!

Kathleen Keating gets us inside what's really going on in the latest about where our world is headed. The Gates of Hell: All Roads Lead to Rome is another fine work.

The book updates us on the latest attempts by the "powers that be" to launch our world into utter chaos and bring about the rise of the Anti-Christ. I suggest everyone read it. Some of you might not want to believe what's happening but Kathleen makes it hard to argue...since she gives proof of the sinister plans now going on around us.

You have to pick up this book!

"Getting the Lead Out" is an invaluable resource for parents with children who suffer from lead poisoning. It discusses sources of lead exposure, methods for preventing lead poisoning, and evaluation and treatment of lead poisoning. Critically, the book also provides parents with advice on how to cope with lead poisoning and how to protect their families. The text is clear, thorough, and not overly technical.

I work in the area of lead toxicity and found this book to be highly accurate and informative. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly to any friend or colleague who has a loved one with lead poisoning or who wants to learn more about the subject.

Hauke, a German Catholic theologian, has for some time been on the forefront of a Catholic analysis of the feminist movement. He is very conversant with modern English-speaking femism and this book provides one of the best summaries and analyses of the subject. All the main themes are covered in great detail.
This would be a good bookto read if you are reading Daly, Elizabeth Clark, Byrne, etc.

Hauke is sympathetic to the questions raised by so-called feminism, but he is by no means supportive of the majority of its conclusions. Worth reading if you are a novice to the subject or well-versed. Great all around introduction.

This 40 day retreat was a breath of fresh air to me. I used it for morning devotions and I'm still (three months later) trying to absorb all of JKD's insights. She writes with a passion for God and her spiritual thoughts are well worth your time to study. I am hooked. I'm in the process of reading all of her books.

This was a good spiritual book but the best has got to be An Encounter With A Prophet

This book is a dynamite for the beginner. The photos are so good and self explanatory in most cases. All techniques are covered with a simple explanation. The accompanying cd will give you a sense of how you should be sounding...You will benefit from the 87 exercises which are in both Tabs and Music notation. Gets you really started. Though the book is not promising to teach you any licks, you will appreciate this book. I know I did.
