I found this book to be very helpful. It walks through the steps of legal writing one at a time, in easy to read and understand plain English. There are also helpful examples. I had to use Neumann for my Legal Writing class, but ditched him and used this book instead. Now that I am in Appellate Advocacy, I find myself coming back to use this book again.

After his tremendous scholarly work "The Language of the Law," Mellinkoff wrote this gem. I really like it, and I wish I had read it 10 years ago. It's a book-length brief in favor of plain-English legal writing.

He takes strong positions on legal words and phrases that should be cut from legal writing, but he knows his stuff and backs up his assertions. He gives lots of practical advice for handling the challenges that come from trying to write clearly and simply. And he does it with a light and informal tone that is at once entertaining and persuasive.

An excellent book.

This is an excellent book for any college teacher to read. It was written by Mable H. Smith, RN, JD, PhD and a couple of other qualified contributors. It has three parts: 1 The Legal Framework of Higher Education Environments, 2 The Professional Framework Governing the Educator's Role, and 3 Ethical Framework of Higher Education. Part one has four chapters: 1 The Legal Rights of Students, 2 The Legal Rights of Faculty, 3 Faculty Protection Against Lawsuits, and 4 Faculty and the Employment Relationship. Part two has four chapters including faculty relations in academic environments and the teaching, scholarship, and service/practice roles of faculty. Part 3 has the ninth chapter, Ethical Considerations in Education Environments.

Each chapter starts with an outline of the content, introduction, case study and critical thinking questions followed by the content and then ends with professional dimension, ethical dimension, implication for educators, strategies to avoid legal problems, responses to the critical thinking questions, annotated bibliography, and notes. Case law is referenced throughout the book. There is a glossary and an index. Appendix A is How to Read a Legal Case. Appendix B is How to Research Legal Topics.

While the book was intended to be used as a textbook for graduate students studying education, it is an excellent resource for faculty. It has some examples of nursing situations, but is still appropriate for any faculty member or education student. I highly recommend this book for information about legal, professional and ethical issues related to higher education.

This got me through labor law. You can't just ditch your casebook, but if you read this and then the case, it's much easier to see the forest for the trees.

I love this book. It is really good about setting out the rules and what you're supposed to get from the cases. It's the most helpful when read after reading the full cases, but can help you on those too busy weeks. Great for exam review.

Legalines does a great job of giving you the blackletter outline + the applicable case brief. Their format is like a gilbert's & casenotes rolled into one.

This a great supplement for Real Property. The cases are hard to understand so having someone explain it in plain English is really helpful!

Ably translated by Carol Scherer and edited by Karl Schleunes, Legislating The Holocaust: The Bernhard Loesener Memoirs And Supporting Documents is the direct, recorded testimony of Bernhard Loesener. This is the man who personally drafted much of the legislation that disenfranchised and dehumanized the Jews of Nazi Germany. He also kept the minutes of inter-ministerial conferences concerned with the "Jewish Question." In 1950, Bernhard Loesener penned a memoir in which he sought to explain and justify his actions, as well as professing his horror of the Final Solution to which he so thoroughly and directly contributed. First published in 1961, Loesener's memoir has never appeared in English until now. Also included are an introduction and lengthy notes by editor Karl A. Schleunes, as well as Loesener's testimony before the Nuremberg Tribunal. An invaluable contribution to Holocaust studies and reference collections, Legislating The Holocaust is a stark and revealing insight into the banality of evil, and the bureaucratic mechanics of facilitating mass murder.

This book is so original and carefully thought out that it is more like reading philosophy than a book on constitutional theory, except that Kahn is a much better and more lucid writer than most philosophers. (Kahn has an odd habit of writing elusively short sentences, and then piling them on top of one another.) The book is really an intellectual history, showing how each generation of judges in US history has come to grips in different and characteristic ways with the problem of applying the Constitution to new problems. The theme of the book is the illegitimacy of judicial review, and more precisely of the idea that true self-government can be made consistent with constitutional governance, in the US or anywhere else. It is a perfect book for curious, intellectually ambitious lawyers and esp law students to become acquainted with the big questions and big theories in constitutional law (at the end of the book, Kahn critiques all the major theorists). You won't think in the same way about the law after you've finished this book, and it is the one of a handful of law books that does not read like a few law review essays strung together. The book received one or two rave reviews but so far as I know is not read outside the law world (say by intellectual historians).

This is a really helpful book. It was great to have when I chose a new health plan during Open Enrollment at work. I wish I had this years ago
