Delicious!
I'm a mystery lover, and my significant other gave me this book for Christmas. It is loaded with recipes provided by some of the leading mystery writers of our time. Included in this book are recipes by authors such as Robert Bernard, Linda Barnes, George Pelecanos, and, believe it or not, Dick Francis! Recipes from merging crime fiction authors such as Elaine Viets, K.J.A. Wishnia, Marilyn Meredith, Twist Phelan, Kent Braithwaite, L.C. Hayden, and Irene Marcuse are also featured. Edgar Allan, Raymond Chandler, and Agatha Christie have additional recipe suggestions in the book. Jo Grossman and Robert Weibezahl did an amazing job pulling these selections together. A Second Helping of Murder is a fun cookbook, suitable for the mystery lover and non-lover alike.

Fascinating reading
I highly recommend Shroyer's Secret Mesa. In a thought-provoking way, the author introduces the reader to the fascinating world of Los Alamos, research center AND town. Never dry, the book relates history and present day projects with a human interest focus. Frankly, I couldn't put the book down, and learned a myriad of new things by reading it. If you're looking for a unique read, pick up this one.

Well, when I started reading this book, I wasn't so sure, but I thought that Aldar was really understanding and nice, and the levitron was really cool. Finally I started to understand it, and I thought that the way all the fururistic stuff described was fantastic. there was pleanty of adventure and romance in it. I can't wait to read the sequel, and soon as i can pay for it. i recomend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi/romance and people who don't mind reading certian things. this was a great book!

A trustee's recommendation for "Shared Values"
Kidder's book gives serious food for thought. Our world is very diverse. People come with different needs, different agendas, and different cultural backgrounds that color their understanding of others. We seem to disagree on so much and have minimal interest in working together. Kidder stresses that our world is getting smaller and to survive and grow, we, as a world need to find a common ground from which to work together. We need to find "universal truths". There is too much at stake if we don't: concerns that affect everyone, from damage to the environment to economic issues between the haves and the have nots. Without a common ground from which to talk, to trade, and to understand each other, we, as a species are bound to fail.

In his book, Kidder interviews 24 highly respected people from a variety of backgrounds for their perspective on universal values. From these interviews, Kidder identified several important ingredients. The eight values that most often appeared were love, truthfulness, fairness, freedom, unity, tolearance, responsibility, and respect for life.

Part of our job as community college trustees is to help our school, our administration, and our students meet the needs of a growing, changing, and ever more diverse society. How will we meet those needs? What do we need to consider? This book gives some key insights to ponder and gives me personally a much broader appreciation of "diversity". I recommend it.

Singing is Natural

Real help for aspiring singers
Jo Rainbolt's book is a treat. She teamed up with her voice teacher, Bonnie Jean Triplett, to create a work that is part autobiography, part instruction manual, and thoroughly delightful.
Singing Is Natural poses the question "What keeps us from singing?" and comes up with some intriguing insights into our need for self-expression. Jo describes her own rediscovery of singing, beginning a few years ago with a birthday gift of voice lessons. Her enthusiasm for learning and sharing "the gift of song" is bound to inspire all of us would-be warblers and kitchen-sink crooners.
The book is warm as a wood stove and bracing as a winter breeze. It's peopled with early opera singers, old-time cowboys, friends and neighbors from the small town of Hot Springs, Montana -- all of them illustrating the many ways that singing can enrich our lives. And for readers who want to take inspiration a step further, Part Two is a detailed, nuts-and-bolts lesson in vocal technique.

An excellent novel
I am not a big fan of romance novels, but I did enjoy this one.
With San Francisco as her setting, Jo Ann Watson tells a heart breaking story about love that was never meant to be.
Moving and emotional, Solstice is an excellent book.
And unlike most of the nonsense on TV, that is passed off as entertainment, this book was well worth my time.

Synopsis
Lights, Camera, Action...

When Caitlin Clark arrived in Natchez, Mississippi, to assist the producers of a TV movie, she was impresed by the waythe locale had been transformed to resemble the Civil War era. Storefronts had been painted in the style of the 1860s. Women in hoop skirts swept down the streets, passing men in Confederate gray jackets. Romance lingered on the set, along with the heady scent of magnolias and tea roses.

Caitlin had to keep reminding herself that they were filming a movie- especially when she caught sight of Luek McKeever. With chiseled good looks, deep blue eyes and a tall, muscular physique, Luke had the charisma of a movie star. But he was the special effects man, the crew member who created the ilusions of flying bullets and exploding cannonballs.

From the moment they met, Luke had a special effect on Caitlin's heart. Sparks seemed to fly whenever he was near. But Caitlin had know men like McKeever.. great looking guys who broke women'd hearts into tiny pieces. She had to play it cool and keep things on a professional basis- before Luke started a fire that threatened to burn out of control.
