ON GUARD by Donna Jo Napoli

A good children's book follows the same rules of writing as a good adult book and even if the plot is not omplicated, it will keep you wanting to know how things turn out. That's the case with ON GUARD. It's about a young boy who wants to find a way to be special.

He thinks that becoming a good fencer will be the key for him. He finds out that fencing is more than an athletic activity and comes away with much more than the skills needed to face an opponent on the strip.

This book has a nice view of the main character's family life and displays some very good values for children. I read it to evaluate it for kids who attend fencing classes at a fencing salle with which I am associated and I thought it was a good one to suggest they read. It's a good story even if your child is not a fencer. The main theme is one to which anyone can relate.

Absolutely wonderful!

This is a new author for me, but from now on, she's an automatic purchase. What a great book! I read it in one sitting. It was fun, intelligent, and sexy as all get-out. Wow! If you like snappy dialogue, sexual tension and laughing out loud, you need to read One Wicked Night!

Great Young Adult Novel

This is an easy to read, fast-paced young adult novel that's especially good for young women. It's an adventure story that stresses trusting your intuition and owning your power. I especially liked the descriptions of Hong Kong.

Awesome guide - Excellent information!!!

I just bought this book a few days ago and it's already dog-eared! I am so thrilled! The format is supberb, the information is right on and it's detailed but not overwhelming or overly technical. Great photos, too!

I can't say enough about this book. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone even if you don't have a deck, patio or balcony! The info can work for backyards, front yards, whatever!!! Go get it! It's worth the [money].

Literature about work that really works

This collection from Bottom Dog Press is excellent for anyone who's been looking for a good college-text to get students talking about literature and work. In these stories, students will find their fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, and even themselves. Literature about work provides a rich opportunity for discussion and learning, and this book is definetely rich in its potential. Bret Comar's story is especially breath-taking.

Highly recommended

This book was the next best thing to reading "How to win friends and influence people". It helps me understand difficult people, and I'm not angry when I deal with them. The facts are very new, startling, would have taken me years to figure out by myself. Also, it is a readable book.

Great Book

I thought this book was really intense and very passionate. This is not a fluff book. It has alot of intense emotions and lots of passion. The book is about an actress named Katy Dakota, who years ago, betrayed the man she loved and sent him to prison. He comes back and is intent on seducing her to get back at her for what she did. This is a great read.
