This book is a must for all Art Nouveau jewelery lovers. There is no collection of this kind in the world. The illustrations are exquisit and a joy to look at every time I open this book. My admiration for people like Dr. Karl Kreuzer is off the scale.

Jo Nelson presents a profound, yet simple method to help teachers, administrators, students and others effectively think, learn and work together.

The book opens with this quote from John Ralston Saul: Thinking, questioning, and imagining are the tools of human consciousness, the things that make us different from animals or machines. These are the tools of initiative; the initiative responsible individuals need in order to participate and to construct their lives.

The book proceeds to offer a process in which we can begin to use these tools of human consciousness. The text identifies five functions of the method which have the potential to: ·extend thinking and learning capacity. ·make learning meaningful. ·make communication in groups effective. ·help prevent and solve problems. ·strengthen the effectiveness of evaluation.

The focused conversation method uses questions at four levels: 1. The Objective Level- questions dealing with data and sensory observation. 2. The Reflective Level - questions related to personal reactions and associations. 3. The Interpretive Level - questions about meaning, significance, and implications. 4. The Decisional Level - questions concerned with resolution.

Canada's Institute of Cultural Affairs refined the focused conversation method as part of its Technology of Participation, which leads people through certain phases of reflection, enabling them to process their experiences as a group. A leader/facilitator asks a series of questions to elicit responses that take a group from the "surface of a topic to a topic to its depth implications for their life and work."

The book is divided into three main sections: theory, application, and examples of focused conversations. The book presents over 100 examples of planned focused conversations that address: ·Making learning meaningful ·Making communication effective in groups ·Preventing and solving problems ·Creative applications

There are examples of the method for use in the classroom, with parents and the community, teachers and staff.

This method has a great potential for use in the education profession.

Fast-talking restaurant heiress Grace Haley is on the run from her overbearing family and down to her last few dollars when she bursts into a Chicago pub and convinces Tyler, the manager (who has planned his grand opening for that night and has just had his entire staff quit) that he needs to hire her. All of Cousins' characters are well-developed and likeable, but the women stand out- they are a lot of fun to read about. The restaurant industry provides a fast-paced setting and hilarious unexpected disasters. A great read!

Bad Sex is an anthology of short stories, each about bad sex. The stories are entertaining, sometimes funny, sometimes rebarbative; never dull.

It is a refreshing book, if only because, our commercial culture (which is the same thing as "pop" culture) is so intent on selling sex as a Good Thing, and using that Good Thing to sell so many other things (most of which have nothing at all to do with actual sexual behavior), that any discourse about sex as other than good, wonderful, and immaculately satisfying, has been obliterated.

It is also true that the Devil really does have all the best tunes . . . bad sex makes a more interesting read than good sex.

Which brings up this question: (you have to be old to remember when all sex used to be bad) Wasn't sex more fun when even good sex was risqué . . . bad?

This was the first book I read by Clayton and I have been addicted ever since. An in depth look at addiction with lots of twists and turns. It really keeps your interest and is an excellent read if you can find this work. One of my favorites.

You can tell that these recipes have been successful throughout a community. Some of the best cooks are from the South and from the church commuinity. Some of the recipes are simple yet elegant. Helpful hints on entertaining are a must. This book is for the experienced cook as well as the new bride or groom.

I love all of the books of this series and this one was no different. I thought it was a truly touching book.

I own several of the Peter Pauper Press Guided Journals, and love them all. This is no exception - it's a sturdy spiral-bound hardcover, with a cutout "frame" on the front cover that opens onto the full color inside page, which is a painting of a flowering tree. This journal is actually thicker than some of their later journals - 160 pages. The lined paper inside the journal is a good quality, a cream color that is thick enough so that you can't see your writing showing through on the other side. A small tree is printed at the top of each page. Like all of the guided journals, this one has quotes inset on every other page, though this journal doesn't list sources for each quote. Here are two of my favorites: "Don't wait for your world to change. Change it yourself." ... "Taking charge of your life takes time - and a bit of faith and courage."

Excellent Aerobic excercises for in the pool, easy to follow instructions, good workout and starts the morning off great. I Highly reccommend Wet and Wonderful.
