Excellent American History Resource
History textbooks are usually inadequate and painfully boring. This book is exceptionally well-written, accurate and interesting. It's great!

This book is awesome.
I am a secondary education history major and I use this book in my US history class. I find it to be simply outstanding. It reads like a novel and not like a text book. This is a must have for any history buff.

Palm Springs: The Landscape, the History, the Lore
Published in Hardcover by Ironwood Editions (01 November, 2001)
Author: Mary Jo Churchwell
Amazon base price: $25.00

Now THIS is Palm Springs
Mary Jo Churchwell's history of Palm Springs touches on the familiar Palm Springs of old ....a Palm Springs populated by the beautiful people like Bob Hope and Gig Young, Lucy and Desi, and yes, the lovely Miss Dinah Shore. BUT, Churchwell's Palm Springs is so much more: The canyons, the desert wildflowers, corny street and condo names, and above all, the sunshine that just won't quit.

All I can say is WOW! I want all my friends to read it - very moving. This reads as if I'm chatting with an old friend that grew up in Palm Springs as I did. I remembered things I thought I had forgotten. Let's hear more from Mary Jo Churchwell!

Finally, a book on the REAL Palm Springs
If you've dismissed Palm Springs as a soulless wasteland fit only for golfers, gamblers and creaky celebrities, this book will change your mind. With Mary Jo Churchwell as your good-natured guide, you'll discover the things that truly make Palm Springs unique in the world. This is the first book to focus on the area's awesome natural wonders and its bold past populated with writers, eccentrics and explorers. Whether you're a visitor or a lifelong resident, this book will quadruple your enjoyment of this desert town.

Patch and His Favorite Things : A Touch and Feel Book
I was upset to find this book out of stock. I was ordering for a friend because my son absolutely loves the Patch books. At age 1 he could do every task on the pages and loved to participate in the reading of them. I know he will enjoy telling the stories to his new baby sister!

Better than "Pat the Bunny"
This hands-on book has bright, simple graphics, perfect for my eight month old. With lots of tactile and visual stimulation, this is a winner.

The best of several available
We bought several review resources. Peterson's was the best. It offers extensive guidance about preparing for the test and had lots of hints for success in taking it.

Its practice questions were right on in level of difficulty. Questions in other resources were too easy or too hard. Several only provided limited practice questions.

Our daughter scored in the 99th percentile. While we think she would have done well anyway, the Peterson materials boosted her score a good deal, we are convinced.

A GREAT BOOK TO HELP YOU ACE THE TESTS!!
I think this book is a great way to prepare for the SSAT and ISEE. It provides lots of great information on the test and it gives you tips on how you can do better on the test. I had to take the SSAT and I don't know how I would've done so good if I hadn't read this book. You should check it out!! It's really worth it!!

Fantastic Book!
This book was a revelation to me. The idea that stress can be a positive force in my life is something I never realized. These two women have really caught the essence of true empowerment by teaching us how to change a negative emotion into something positive and useful.

The Positive Stress Factor
This book offers an alternative to all other "how to deal with stress" books - it really works! It is a positive, realistic approach to recognizing the stress in your life and learning how to change that stress from within. Stress is all around us but what matters most is how we learn to use our own positive energy to either conquer the stress or accept it in a new format. It will change the way you see stress and the way in which you find solutions to it. Drs. Holmes and Webb are two incredible women who truly have the gift of being teachers. They will teach, inform and delight you as you learn that stress really can be good for you - really!

Finally, the REAL Midwest!
Although actually inspired by the Canadian prairie, the intricately-detailed drawings in this book reminded me unmistakably of the four years I lived in Kansas. It really captures the unique beauty (and architecture and weather) of the prairies, and of real farm and ranch life, and would be a great addition to any Midwestern school or public library collection as well as the family's. Children (and adults!) in other parts of the country will find it fascinating, too -- the drawings are very authentic, detailed, and full of fun surprises that kids will love. Also, instead of representing each letter of the alphabet with just one word, it uses the letter several times throughout a complete, entertaining sentence. I plan to send it to all the children I know in other regions of the country, and perhaps even abroad! A lovely, very educational and fun book.

Even an adult would love this one!
The illustrations that accompany each letter are amazing. The pictures are beautiful and will keep a child's attention while demanding the appreciation of an adult reader. The sentences using the alphabet letter give an accurate descrition of prarie life and go well with each beautiful picture.

Prairie Alphabet
The art work of Yvette Moore is very realistic and portrays the Prairie people, their families and lives exactly as it happens. The realism makes me feel as though I can relate to the people in the picture. I am from the Prairies of Saskatchewan, and am very proud to know that Ms. Moore has the talent to share with the rest of the world how wonderful it is to be from the Prairies.

Yvette has outdone herself!
Yvette Moore's paintings are absolutely beautiful and I am proud to say thay she is from my hometown in Saskatchewn. The detail and colour capture so much of what life was like for me on the prairie. As if the painting themselves were not enough, the text completes the experience of life on the prairies through its page-long descriptive passages. This is a great companion book to The Prairie Alphabet, done by the same two women, but more detailed in the text.

The first book in by Mary Jo Putney. Justin has just become the Duke after his brother's death and must marry for money. Having remembered meeting Sarah he arranges to marry her. The two struggle to overcome the difficulties of marriage and love.
The second book is by Kristin James. Amy went out one night alone with Charles Whittaker. Though nothing happened, thanks to Jesse, a hand who works on her father's ranch, Amy's reputation is ruined. Jesse, who has loved her ever since she and her father saved him, offers to marry her. The two try to figure out a way to get the other to love them.
The third book is by Julie Tetel. Mistakenly taken from her bed one night Anne Chisolm must marry Alexander Sutherland in handfast for one year and a day to save there reputation and honor.
I enjoyed all three books, though I wish "The Handfast" characters could have more depth and motivation. Fans of Mary Jo Putney will notice that "The Wedding of the Century" is different from her other books but still well written. I loved "Jesse's Wife." The characters were so enjoyable as well as funny.
If you can find it, this will make for light and easy reading.

Great reading! Synopses here

Will require parental assistance or good reading skills
Mary Jo Roberts illustrates this celebration of the Pumpkin Fairy, who discovers her magic powers in defense of the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch. The Pumpkin Fairy will require parental assistance or good reading skills, but presents a fun and different story of Halloween and magic which will intrigue parents and kids alike.

Finally a Halloween Story that won't scare the little ones!
A sweet story, my three children love it! The illustrations are amazing! Beautiful, bright with vivid color and wonderful detail. In a world where Halloween has received such a bad rap, finally a book to restore the magic of Halloween. I bought several for gifts. I Highly recommend it!

Condensed and easy to read / understand
This book definately takes all the stuff from our big texts and condenses it and makes it much easier to understand. The helpful hints in the margins are great. This is makes pharmacology much easier to apply to clinical. I highly recommend it!

I also purchased Clinical Pharmacology made incredibly easy---have really enjoyed both books.
