5 Stars, Hands-Down
This idea-packed publication veers away from the all-too-common avant-garde and 'cartoony' style of scrapbooking. The styles presented herein are elegant and classier than most. The pictures are fantastic, and are an inspiration to the scrapbooker.

Contains a number of patterns, directions and templates (which requires enlargement) for the reader's use.

Beautiful, inspiring; a joy to page through
This is for those who aren't into cute, cartoony looking scrapbooks. I have never really gotten into scrapbooking before, because the examples I've seen just aren't my style. This book has changed my attitude 180 degrees. If you love beautiful, elegant artwork, this book will inspire you. Anyone familiar with the magazine Somerset Studio will feel right at home. Your memory albums don't have to be childish or tacky...buy this book!

I'm so glad I bought this book
Even if I never did any of the beautiful art work described and shown in these pages,I'd still be happy to own this book. The author goes beyond the mundane, childish and in my opinion, artless arrays of photos mounted on various colored papers that I've seen in several other how-to scrapbook books. Each of the scrapbook pages and covers she describes and shows are truly works of art that might even be good enough to display in a museum one day. She describes how to use various media (watercolors, textured and handmade papers, decoupage, etc.) to make a memory book a veritable art collection. There is quite a bit of information on handling antique photos. In fact, many of her backgrounds seem geared towards old photos, although the techniques covered are also suitable for modern ones. The clip art at the end is pretty helpful. Definitely a very inspirational volume and well worth the price!

A young girl has to leave Tibet to get an education
Under the occupation of the People's Republic of China, school in Tibet is too expensive for most families to allow their children to attend (Tibetans normally have large families while the Chinese are allowed to have only one child per family). Of course, for those who can afford to attend, the traditional Tibetan teachings are banned. Consequently, the Tibetan Children's Village was established in the city of Dharamsala in India with the motto "Others Before Self." "Our Journey from Tibet" is based by Laurie Dolphin on the dangerous journey taken by a young girl named Sonam to travel from her home in Tibet, through the mountains of the Himalaya in Nepal, to India. There, with other children who had taken a similar journey, Sonam learns about the language, religion, and history of her homeland. Dolphin, who has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for several years, was inspired by the plight of these children to write this book as a means of helping to preserve Tibetan culture. "Our Journey from Tibet" is illustrated with photographs by Nancy Jo Johnson, who has produced several stories for "Life" and "National Geographic." The book also includes a message from Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, and an afterword by Rinchen K. Choegyal, Minister-in-Charge for Education for the Tibetan government in exile. As much as the story of a young girl having to take a perilous journey, the efforts of the people of Tibet to keep alive their Buddhist religious traditions, to reestablish in exile the monastic institutions destroyed in Tibet under the Chinese, and to teach their children their culture as part of a modern education is equally inspirational. Young students researching the land of Tibet for school would be well served by looking at "Our Journey From Tibet" as well to really get an idea of what live is like for children only slightly younger than themselves living on the other side of the world.

Excellent book for all ages
Although the book was written for children, as an adult I found it very interesting. The color pictures on every page bring the story to life. I liked the book so much I ordered another one for my niece. She is 9 years old, and is anxious to bring the book to school on a "show and tell" day.

Heart Warming and Courageous
I am 33 years old. I read this book for the first time today. These child's courage and bravery in this journey outshines all else. From the beginning to end this small child went through more hardship than most people I know of. What brings this book to light with most people is the quality of the pictures and the words. To be able to put the images that come to mind with pictures of such a dangerous journey is VERY Commendable. It also brings home the environment of what Tibets' children are facing each day. Makes me want to reach out to this child and hug her and tell her that it's over and it wont happen again.

A MUST-READ FOR WOMEN and MEN!
This is a definite must-read for any person who knows a rape survivor or who is a rape survivor. Not only does this story detail the journey to healing for Aimee, but it also chronicles the feelings and emotions which changed her life. For those who want to support a survivor, and you don't know what to say or do, this is an important story to read. It will help you develop compassion and a better understanding of the challenges that survivors must face in the healing process. Truly, this book is a source of inspiration and hope for all. One can only admire how she found the strength and compassion for others to share her story. This story will have a positive effect on you. I know it did me. It changed my life, my attitude, the way I see things. May Aimee, and all other survivors, find the peace and love that they so richly and truly deserve, and may they see themselves as the most beautiful work of art as Our Creator intended them to be. I know that is what I see.

Peaceful Heart/Strong Heart
Aimee Jo has touched upon a subject many women are so scared to share with others...She opened up her heart, her soul and her gift of writing to show her walk into the valley of shadows..What a BRAVE and lovely woman Aimee Jo is...We always think something like this happens to the other person...but when it hits home..and becomes a reality...people tend to withdraw into themselves...Aimee Jo has showed us all the spirit, determination and unselfishness in sharing her story...What a wonderful gift she has given to women everywhere...showing that life can and will go on...Thank you Aimee..I intend to read it again and again...and have books for my two daughters for Christmas.

Human Spirit
Aimee Jo Martin and "Peaceful Heart" opened my thoughts and my heart. The strength and courage with which she wrote this book is amazing. Overcoming and rising above the traumatic ordeal of being raped and savagely beaten, Aimee proved to the world that the "human spirit" does prevail. Everyone could benefit by reading this excellent book.

Poems for the Common Man
Betty Jo Mings has a inspirational book of poetry that shares her heartfelt thoughts in many areas of life. Her walk with the Lord throughout her poems is evident and a powerful tool for encouragement to those who need a nudge. For others it is the perfect gift and a book you can read over and over and feel Betty's love for life and the one who gives it.

The Perfect Gift to Give or Receive, June 29, 2003
I love books that can be picked up for quick inspiration and decorate end tables in my home with them. 'Poems for the Common Man' is a 'perfect coffee table fit'. More importantly, it contains a poem entitled 'Faith'. I have read this poem over and over again as I walked through the death of my two grown sons eleven months apart. This poem brought me strength and comfort. There are many other poems in this book that will do the same for you if you are walking through a crucible of life. Not only does this little volume contain poems of comfort, it is full of poems that cover the gambit of life. It is a perfect gift to give yourself and a perfect gift for a friend. I have given this book to several friends ' it has been a gift genuinely and gratefully appreciated!

An Outstanding Family-Oriented Book
Seldom have I come upon a book of poetry that has pleased me as much as this volume.
Betty Jo is a master wordsmith, a sensitive writer who presents her poetry as beautifully as a symphony or as comforting as a lullaby. Her poetry has natural progression and flawless meter. Her subjects deal with every facet of life from birth to death, the joys and sorrows of living, the foibles of human nature. But she always offers hope. "Inspiring" is too simple a word to describe her work, even though it was indeed inspired. I prefer "magnificent." This book rests prominently on my coffee table for all my guests to
view.

Excellent
"In reviewing this new colorful pictorial biography of Pope John Paul II, I felt immensely inadequate to express myself, something which comes strangely to someone who has been in the publishing business for over 40 years. Jo Garcia-Cobb has entwined dates and facts of Pope John Paul II with sensitivity and an insight one rarely sees in recent publications. To say that this new coffee table pictorial is outstanding would be selling it short indeed. As owner of a bookstore, I can tell you that the copies have literally flown off the shelves."

Magnifico
My good friend and I are happy to be a part of a very special
display on Pope John Paul II. The exhibit features 25 six foot tables with over 500 pictures and over 50 books. This book just added to our collection is oustanding. A great and easy read with wonderful pictures. I have been a radio announcer for over 20 years and we always had a top 10...this book would be in our top 5. Better Than "Pope John Paul II Life : A Tribute"
This is probably the best of the Pope picture/biography books. I've never seen Pope John Paul II pictures as good as this. This is a must buy for all you fans of the the Holy Father. I strongly recommend it.

Comments on "Rebecca"
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel - it's a real page turner that gripped me from beginning to end. The story was original, fresh and exciting as you follow the lives of Rebecca North/Wythe and her "husband" Lord Nicholas Wythe in their quest for love and happiness. Rebecca met Nicholas as a child when she found and looked after him in her family's barn when he was injured during the war - even though he was a 'red coat'. Thinking that he was about to die Nicholas married Rebecca so that he could repay her kindness by leaving her his wealth. Of course he doesn't die but vanishes. It is years later when Rebecca has grown up and forgotten about the soldier she saved, that he comes to interrupt her wedding to another man... As his legal wife Rebecca has no choice other than to leave her home, family, friends and the man she thinks she loves to travel back to England with her husand to his home the Foxbridge Cloister. A very inhospitable reception awaits her - after all she's an American! Complete with an unfriendly mother-in-law who wants her son to marry a well-to-do Lady, a jealous charlatan in the form of her husband's ex-lover Clarisse who will stop at nothing to gain back her lover and became Lady Foxbridge, and an unknown scheming rival looking to take control of the Foxbridge Cloister, the action never stops right up to the last page. Once you've started reading you won't be able to stop until you find out whether or not there's a happy ending...

My Favorite book of all time
I love this book. I read it several years ago and have now began a frantic search to get my hands on the entire series. Forget the other Rebecca, this is the Classic!

I have recently purchased extra copies after an extensive used bookstore seach for my sisters because we "argued" over whose book it was!

I humbly beg the publishers to publish this book again! I have never met a person who read it that did not love it.

Loved it.
I have three copies of this book just in case I lose one. I have lost track of how many times I have read it but so much happens in it I'm always surprised again at the bits I've forgotten. I don't know what else to say without giving too much away except beg borrow or steal a copy of this book.

The Best book on Ajrak
Ajrak is a traditional shawl used by both Sindhi men and women.Making of Ajrak is a very long and tedious process. This book provides information about Ajrak and how it gets its final shape. This is perhaps the only book of its kind.

Uniquely Sindhi!
I just received a much anticipated copy of the second edition of "Sindh Jo Ajrak". This is one of the few books I have seen in a long time, that I didn't even have to open to be overcome with sheer joy.

The book has a cloth binding, with a 3"x4" piece of the famed Sindhi Ajrak very tastefully framed into the the cover itself. When I did get myself to open the book, I found page after page of absolutely beautiful color pictures detailing the ancient tradition of Ajrak making, showing artisans hard at work, and putting it all in the context of the Sindhi landscape. The book is appropriately dedicated to "all the anonymous artisans of Sindh, who over the centuries have contributed to the creation and perpetuation of a rich and sensitive art-form -- the making of an Ajrak."

The significance of the Ajrak to the Sindhi society and culture is described very nicely in the introduction:

"The continuity of Ajrak production and use over the centuries is maintained only because it is an integral part of Sindhi culture. Its usage is evident at all levels of society, and the cloth is held in high esteem, with the utmost respect given to it. I trust the world will give protection to preserve this incredible process and this precious ancient craft tradition."

Readers may also want to look for a film on the Ajrak apparently produced by the author, that was shown at the South Asian Film Festival in Nepal last October. The film is titled: "Sun, Fire, River: `Ajrak' - Cloth from the Soil of Sindh".

A Gorgeous Book On Pakistani Textile Printing
San Francisco, CA , August 12, 1997 This book is a marvellously illustrated history of Pakistani texitle printing from the area of Sindh. Anyone interested in textile design, printing or dyeing or art history of South Asia will be fascinated by this book. The Ajrak printed textiles have been found in the tombs of Egypt but are still being printed today in Pakistan. The use of indigo and alizarine is outlined as well as the development of the designs

A super guide for young adults starting out in the real life
This book is of great assistance for young folks starting to enter either the business world, college or for young marrieds. Should be part of every job service office. Takes the time to explain in easy to understand language the important requirements like getting a job, budgets and even finding and caring for an apartment.

If you are a first time job seeker, you need this book
As an owner of a professional typing service, I type resumes for a variety of people. However, the young people who are starting out have no idea what is necessary to write a good resume, or what is necessary to get their first interview and land a job. My time is limited, so even though I previously spent a considerable amount of time trying to assist these young people,I can now refer to them to this wonderful book. It is written in language that all teens can understand, with lots of humor, recipes, helpful hints about dressing for that all important interview, and sure fire ways to land the job you want. I loved it.

An indispensable guide to life after high school!
This little book is packed with helpful, no-nonsense suggestions on everything from getting a job to how to prepare nutritious, economical meals.
