Finally, a book that acknowlleges people did not "allow" Clinton to do whatever he wanted because they were bribed or threatened, but because he was no different from other presidents and we are no different from him.

I am sick and tired of the right wing perpetually lambasting us, the American public, about Clinton's morals when they also lack a perfect personal track reccord. Although all of this was exposed in the now infamous witch hunt, the Republicans kept on plugging, happily oblivious to the actual desires of the American public

While there is no doubt what Clinton did was wrong, the American public realized that the best person to handle it was the president and his family. This was never on par with international espionage or other matters that would have actually warranted a constitutional crisis.

Mr. Brown clearly explains why the American people give President Clinton such high approval ratings: It's because the American people (to some extent) share his values--that whatever a person does privately is his or her own business.

The quote on the back cover from a USA Today writer sums this ethic up best: "'We the people' don't elect our presidents to be our moral leaders. We'd probably give the president low marks in the morals department, but then we don't see him as our moral leader. He was elected to run the country. We'll worry about our morals ourselves, thank you very much."

Mr. Brown examines what causes us to give our leaders "a pass" on issues involving morality, showing that the morality of our leadership is a mirror image of the morality and virtues of "we the people." In fact, as he points out, it is actually the "amoral" precept of our postmodern political culture that is at issue--that a person's private conduct doesn't shape his conduct in a public office. The American people have been willing to serve as the president's co-conspirator in his role as First Sex Addict. The line of reasoning, as Mr. Brown points out, is "If 'we the people' tolerated this behavior in former presidents, how can we confront this president on the same issue?" This quote on the back cover says it pretty well: "Are we the people content to have a president with a low moral aptitude? If the president of the United States is guilty of using women and then trashing them, should he be allowed to get away with this? If President Clinton has taken his inspiration from John Kennedy and this travesty is the result, what will it be like when future leaders of postmodern America take their inspiration from him?"

What really makes the book interesting is that it is full of quotes from friends and associates of Mr. Clinton--quotes that are pretty caustic and not to kind to the President. For instance, Katie Couric on the Today Show said, "How is it this intelligent, ambitious, politically savvy man can be so foolhardy and such a slave to his libido?"

And there are several great quotes from George Stephanopoulos, including "Right now, I don't know whether to be angry, sad or both. But if the Lewinsky charges are valid, I know this: I'm livid. It's a terrible waste of years of work by thousands of people with the support of millions more."

Probably one of the best, though, is from the liberal syndicated columnist Ellen Goodman: "Why haven't the soccer moms decided to throw Clinton out of the (White) House? Why are the Democratic women pols who shot off their mouths about Clarence Thomas holding their tongues about Bill? And, above all, why aren't feminists who put sexual harassment on the office bulletin board standing by their Monica?"

This is a really great read--and a fast read as well!

A truly dynamic and comprehensive look at the issue; the author has done a great job defining these issues for those interested or not immediately aware of the public policy issues. Strong recommendation!

Another essential read from Sabrina Freeman. Any parent or advocate fighting for the necessary treatment for people with autistic-spectrum disorders must get a copy of this book. It is frightening to see how easily the science can be misquoted and misused in the effort by some to avoiding paying for scientifically-validated treatment. When you have to prepare yourself for the fight, this a resource you must have.

Inducting the reader into learning about chakras, creative visualization, guided imagery, the power of thought, and much, much more, The Science Of Medical Intuition is an enriching and rewarding self-teaching guide to extending personal awareness into scientific and metaphysical realms alike. The Science Of Medical Intuition would make a welcome and highly prized addition to dedicated Alternative Medicine and Metaphysical Studies collections.

This is the most involved CD and Workbook set from Caroline that I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It is a very detailed tool box, and one that will provide hours of opportunity for self-reflection and awareness. Caroline Myss and Norman Shealy (MD) speak on the CD's. Dr Norm Shealy has some fascinating medical details concerning the visualisations contained within this series and their effect on raising the levels of Calcitonin and DHEA (as well as some other hormones) for example.
It is not a series that aims to teach you how to become a medical intuitive to read other people's energy. Rather, it aims to teach you to be more perceptive and intuitive about your own physical, mental and spiritual/energetic body.
It has some good Visualisations within it, that last ~ 30 mins each. The Ring of Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Crystal are great.
Interestingly, the Ring of Crystal Visualisation seems to go along almost the exact same points of focus in the body as I learnt through Healing Touch in a treatment known as the CHAKRA CONNECTION. This technique is acknowledged by Janet Mentgen founder of the Healing Touch program to have been learnt from the renowned Dr W.Brugh Joy (Author of "Joy's Way"). I have found the CHAKRA CONNECTION to have powerful and beneficial effects,both for people I work with and when done on myself. Although I have only done the Ring of Crystal visualisation a few times now, you can feel the points Norm Shealy focuses on to really be connecting.
I can recommend this series to those interested in energetic medicine and healing, and for those who have enjoyed previous Caroline Myss CD's. This Series can help empower everybody who chooses to use the tools given within it. For those with or without a medical background, the visualisations are clearly explained and diagrams given in the extensive 92 page workbook.
I think I will be re-listening to (as with all Caroline's CD's, because each time you listen to it you hear different gems of wisdom) and benefiting from this series on The Science of Medical Intuition for many years to come.

I read this book within 24 hours. Once you start you can't put it down. Just knowing that it is a true story and being told by the person who lived it is fasinating. My 13 year-old son is going to read it as a history book for World War II. What better way to read it than from a first-hand account. If you don't like the truth , don't read this book. If you want to read about history in a way you will never forget, read this book NOW!!

Secrets to Eternity is filled with so much light,that it is a blesing that God has given us all the imformation that we need to know in this book, as in all of the books Annalee has written with the pen of heaven.

As a former pastor who has endured the devestating effect of a superior's distorted view of God, I know all too well what becomes of personal faith (and that of an entire congregation) when God is viewed/presented as distant, untrustworthy, fearful, and yes -- arbitrary and cruel. I have witnessed enough resulting hardship to last my lifetime.

In "Servants or Friends?", Graham Maxwell has managed to keep his eye on the ball -- to keep his clarian voice faithful to the truth. God is not as so many within the church have adopted. God is not as so many in church leadership today would have us believe. God is in fact our friend...approachable, dependable, faithful, trustworthy...friendly. This fact (though muddled so terribly by so many within contemporary Christianity) is never-the-less the heritage of God's children.

In simple and plain language Graham Maxwell restores the kindness of God to the faith. At every turn he encourages honesty, free questioning, and the intelligent, thoughtful consideration of his readers. This is not a book for those who's battle cry is "God said it, I believe it, that settles it!" -- for such banners deny one of the greatest gifts of God...friendship. God offers a honest friendship and He desires a trust who's foundation is understanding...rather than a threatened or coerced trust resulting from the blind obedience of a slave.

On the other hand, perhaps this is just the book for such servants -- they deserve so much more.

I recommend this book to all who have suffered under the lies of those who wish to dominate the children of God. The truth will set you free.

I recommend this book to those who have lost their way. Who can't deny God, but can't experience an encouraging friendship with God. You are not alone.

I recommend this book to those souls who are crushed by the demands of obedience, who fear God, and who know there must be more. There is.

Friendship with God is the key to any real relationship with God...Some would not want you to know this. Maxwell has dedicated his life to spreading the good news.

Whatever your reason, or background, read this book with honesty in your heart. There is still hope.

In Servants or Friends, Graham Maxwell illustrates the core of the Gospel: that God wants us to be his friends, not his servants. This radical idea was stated by Jesus in John 15:15--"I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." (NIV)

For those who think Jesus is on their side, but are not so sure about God, it is comforting to know that the Father wants to be their friends. In clear, simple language, Maxwell shows how salvation is not a matter of "blood" or "legal justification," but is a matter of maintaining a loving, trusting relationship with God.

This book transformed my view of God; I know that God is on my side, and I never need to fear.

This book was awesome. It really made me look at myself as a woman and a wife and realize that I needed to make some changes. It is a good book for Christian women that want to truly live life as it should be.

I highly recommend this book for women wanting to build a closer relationship with God and themselves. This book offered eye opening points that are happening in my life at this particular time. The information Mrs. Wilson offers can be used by any women in any stage of your life I have passed it on to someone else so that they to can be blessed and helped. Also, this book is a keeper and can be reflected back upon at any given time when the secrets needs to be refreshed.

I have always thought that there should be bumper stickers that say "Christians make the best lovers". This book would be a defense of that statement. Marva Dawn uses her skills as a biblical scholar, counselor, and insightful commentator on the human condition to write a book that shows that we are not creatues that "have sex", but rather are sexual creatures. THis is a good thing, says Dawn, buut our sexuality needs to be in function of God's design. She outlines this plan in several chapters that focus on the marks of a virtuous sexual relationship.

She also covers topics like homosexuality, abortion, marriage, celebacy, divorce, nurturing children, etc. All with great tact, compassion, and insight. She is really really good at making virtue both exciting, realistically achievable, and fulfilling.
Great for groups or individuals (the book, I mean!).

It has been over a year since I've read Marva Dawn's Sexual Character but it still has left an impression on me. Her prime characteristic is an ability to present a very clear and well thought out explaination of what can be a very emotional and cloudy topic. Her personal examples also shine with relevance and authenticity. If you are looking for a thoughtful and intelligent discussion of Sexual Character, you won't find anything better.

Tim Bowler has created a story full of pain, abuse and despair but also full of friendship, love and hope. These great emotions and the protagonist's personal development from the oppressed son of an ambitious father to an independent, self-confident young man fascinates the reader and the tension that can almost be sensed physically will keep also you reading.
